Well folks, after fans of Lego and Minecraft begged for it for, uh, a month, official Minecraft Lego Sets are on the way.
The Lego CUUSOO program (which I believe was covered in a previous news posts) takes set ideas submitted from fans and turns them into real Lego products. If a particular product receives 10,000 votes of support, it is reviewed by the all-powerful Lego Board. If it passes the review product, it gets turned into a set, and the creator receives a 1% royalty from its sales.
You can probably see where I'm going with this one. The Lego Minecraft project was submitted back in December, and quickly passed approval. Here's a quote from the Lego CUUSOO blog:
“We're happy to announce that the Minecraft project on LEGO CUUSOO has passed the LEGO review and we are now developing a concept that celebrates the best aspects of building with the LEGO system and in Minecraft. We can’t wait to show it to you—but it isn't ready just yet. These things take time, so we appreciate your patience. More details are to come.”
