The General, caught completely off guard, just stands there in shock as the child babbles on...and on...and on...

He senses..... two and a half lifeforms? maybe a small child, a teenager, and an adult?

The child clings to the general's leg tight and continues babbling.

Regulus steps back from the door, then calls the General.
"General?"
*child's babbling*
Regulus hangs up.  "He's fine.  That wasn't the room.  Let's assess the situation...this is the most "normal" room...if Matthews is in there, he's got a teenager and possibly a child in there with him."
"Sir, perhaps we should have our men move in on Room 103?"
"Do it.  Go with them.  I'll stay here.  There's just something...off here, and I need to figure out what."
Jarvis nods and heads downstairs.

==Room 103==
"All right, boys, Lord Regulus says it is a go."  Jarvis uses the master key the hotel had surrendered to the team and unlocked the door, drawing back and allowing the three soldiers to enter.
"Hands in the air where I can see them."  The man was coldly dangerous; he had no need to shout--his tone alone would stop them in their tracks.

==Room 463==
The general pats the kid's head idly as his eyes begin to glaze over.

Three teenagers, holding beer bottles were in the room. One had his laptop hooked up to the TV and it showed a very lifelike simulation of the desert, with soldiers in it. "its just COD man!" one shrieked. Another shouted "Don't taze me bro!". The last one threw his beer bottle at the soldier, but it missed and went out the window.

The kid starts gnawing on the general's leg

Tyler clamped his hand over daniel's mouth and woke him up. Wordlessly he pressed a M-16 into daniel's hands, and picked up a m-16 and a kal-tek KSG for himself. "don't shoot till the door opens" he mouthed.


OOC: the third lifeform is the symboyant, btw.

"Oh, dear, very sorry, chaps.  Our apologies.  We recieved a tip that associates of known terrorist Kaze Hikari have been spotted in the building, and...well...you can understand how we might have misinterpreted your...conversation.  While we are here, have any of you seen this man?  Do you know which room he's staying in?"

==Room 213==
Regulus suddenly gets a sense of foreboding.  He stands well back from the door, and waits, his finger poised over the push-to-talk button on his phone.

==Room 463==
Muttering something about "Shiza", General Carter walks back to the lobby, kid still firmly attached to his leg.

Tyler sensed the people standing outside. what? that.... is that a symboyant?

Regulus felt the sudden urge to summon his men, but he pushed it down.  Something was going on, and he had to speak to Matthews alone.  Or at least, away from ordinary humans.  He wouldn't mind having Jarvis at his side, but the secret of his kind's existence had to be his first priority.

==Room 103==
Jarvis knew a dead end when he saw one.  "Thank you for your time."  He led the men out of Room 103 and on to the other room on the first floor.

OOC: 138, I believe?  I'm too lazy to look back a page.

==Lobby==
"Don't think your 'dada' is gonna take you back unless you get to sleep, kid."  He stopped in his tracks, barely recovered from the shock of the incident.  "Who throws a little kid, anyway?"  He shakes his head and continues pacing the lobby, hopefully calming the kid a bit.  It seemed to be working so far..."

Tyler slung the shotgun over his back and aimed his M-4 to shoot the leg of whoever came through the door first.

Regulus decides to risk knocking on the door.

Tyler stood daniel over into a dark corner, breathed "wait for my signal" and shoved his guns under the mattress. he pulled out a handgun and laid on the bed, yawned, ans sounding groggy, said "yes"

"ok. are you going to still be here tomorrow?"

"Possibly, we recieved an anonymous tip and came to follow it up.  You understand why it's so urgent that we find this man," Jarvis said, again holding up Matthews' photo.

"Tyler Matthews?  This is the man you've been following and spying on for the past week.  I want to know why."

"Thank you for your time, ma'am."  Jarvis tells the troops to go report to General Carter, and heads back upstairs.

Regulus decides to try a minor bluff; he was becoming more and more certain this was the room.  "Really?  Because there's no one else here who looks like you, Matthews.  I know you're tracking me; you showed up at Infinitus right as I called, and soon after someone of a similar...lineage...contacted MI5 about us.  Then, I go to meet with Wright in Colorado and get caught up in a CIA chase of a terrorist named Kaze Hikari--your alter ego, perhaps?  And then, I see you in the lobby--there's no way the CIA or MI5 got their acts together that fast--unless you were already trailing me.  If you're working for them, I want to know why you're trying to expose us all, and if you're not...well, if that's the case, then I at least owe it to you to warn you that someone IS coming after us.  Leonard Strallnoth, Alexandre Martins, Clive Smithson, Chris Johnson--those are only the last five.  I don't know if they really were like me, but they showed all the signs.  And now the CIA's after some mysterious terrorist who's almost certainly another one.  No matter how you look at it, Matthews, something is seriously wrong here.  I can use all the help I can get, and even if you aren't involved--you will be.  We need each other, Matthews.  Work with me, here."

Tylers eyes widened. "Daniel STAY HERE" he whispered, geared up, and slipped outside.

"I have an... innocent in there who's this close to discovering the truth, so keep your voice down or let's go somewhere else."

Regulus nods.  "Let's go to my room, my men will keep us safe."  As Jarvis appears at the top of the staircase, he motions to the door.  "Jarvis, there's an innocent inside.  Make sure no harm comes to him, Matthews and I are going upstairs to clear a few things up."

As they climb the stairs, Regulus asks, "So, first thing...ARE you following me?  Why?  Who are you working for who's so interested in me, my work, and most importantly, our kind?"

"Im not following you. I took a job from Infinitus, but I don't work for them. Im a lone wolf at its best.  I know no human, other than daniel in there who suspects, that knows what I am or we are. Happy?" He said in fluent Demotic

"More than you know.  Let me explain.

"You may or may not have heard about my...experiments.  As we are nearing the final stages of my project, I've been tracking down as many of our kind as I can and bringing them onboard--it's complicated stuff, and pitifully few humans are competent enough to even sweep the floors in the place, especially what with the sabotage and assasinations we deal with.  For a while, it was normal stuff--once in a while we'd lose a symbiont, but nine times out of ten they'd take on a host already working the project, and that was that.  But lately--things have gotten bad.

"My host's name is Amarus Zagrene, Lord Regulus.  It's the first time the title's been passed to a member not of the Regulus line, and the first time in 150 years I had to take on a host that I did not help create.  When it happened...let's just say that if it weren't for Jarvis and the others of our kind on staff, I--the real me--would not have survived.  Someone's figured us out, and they're targetting, and killing us--permanently.  Those names I mentioned, I was considering inviting them into the program when they were killed.  Someone does not want this to go through, and more specifically, they don't want us to be involved with it--unjoined human deaths are down almost ninety percent from ten years ago, and falling.  That'd be a god thing, except the total number of deaths--including my own--have risen since then.

"That's why I called Wright at Infinitus, I arranged a meeting in Colorado, someplace I knew neither of us could be assasinated, and I was going to give him some very explicit instructions as to my requirements.  He's said to be the best, and I had hoped that he could stem the tide long enough to finish the project and catch the killer.  But somehow, someone managed to reverse-track my call and give the number to MI5.  The director--who's a complete buffoon, by the way, or at least he was--has been taken by a symbiont, according to my intelligence, an unusually uncooperative one.  If he's somehow in league with the killers, he's in a prime position to expose us to the world, and, more importantly, to the intelligence community.  If worse comes to worse, I'd rather the world know than just them; in public, we can appeal to the idealists and philosophers who would argue for our rights, in private, we'd be completely at their mercy.  Add to this the nationwide manhunt for terrorist Kaze Hikari--who almost HAS to be a symbiote if half of the things the CIA knows about him are true--and we have a perfect recipe for the destruction of our species.

"So, now I must ask you: do you trust Infinitus?  If he's trustworthy, then he's our best bet for protection; at the very least, he's someone we want on our side, not the enemy's.  What job did he ask you to do, anyway?  In case you haven't noticed, I've got a special forces strike team at my disposal, and I can keep them active out in the field for up to three more weeks."

Tyler started laughing hysterically. "The MI5 is no threat. I called you with that number trying to figure out what you were. And you're far too conspicuous. Finding out your true. identity was too easy. And I think we might have met before..... you were there at Churchill's speech, weren't you?"

"As for Chris Johnson.... that was my previous lifetime. I still haven't uncovered my killer" he answered, still in demotic.
