Yep.
Dr. Gordon Freeman is the hero of Half-Life.
He does not speak a word, but lets his actions do the talking.
He keeps his head when others do not, and uses his brains and resourcefulness just as well as his brawn.
His presence alone is enough to spark fear in the hearts of a multidimensional empire that conquered earth in less than twelve hours, but brings hope to a rebellion that sees him as a messianic figure - "the one Free Man".
He's a pretty awesome hero.
