Interesting little thing - the 'grids' on the Fallout games' maps and the cells they cover differ in each game. A square on the FO3 map grid corresponds to an area of 3x3 (9) cells, a square on the map FNV grid corresponds to an area of 4x4 (16) cells, and a square on the FO4 map grid corresponds to 2x2 (4) cells. For all DLCs between games, one square corresponds to an area of 1x1 (1) cells.

Gotta say, Oblvion's map looks really dull from above compared to Skyrim'sor Morrowind's.

And out of pure curiosity, Truth - what mods are you using?
