Well, in the short story that is to come (once I get around to writing it, it will happen in between SW3 and SW4) Jade searches for new ways to use the force. She stumbles upon an ancient Sith lord, who promises her power in exchange for her help.
(now in SW4) He gave her the power, then "took over" her body after she was through with Marik. Now the Sith lord is in control, and is trying to ruin the peace treaty that just got signed.
