Of course, if they do, that's a nice bonus.

Go ahead and make an account on Minecraft.com and try Classic (Which is free). That should help gauge if it will work for you.

Given that pretty much any 3D effect gives off a black box(Unless it's the model, then it's a shadow black version of the model. =P), I doubt that it could handle that; especially since that's using Unity.(Aka, the Lego Star Wars game gives that effect)

If it wasn't for that; I'd definitely try Classic. =/
