actually, I disagree. Everything you listed there happened with the Toa v prank on bs01, and this hacker sounds almost exactly the same - uses a lot of the same phrases and references toa v did as well.

When websites pull pranks, they usually don't result in the disappearance of the front page, restriction of the forums and inconvenience the users by not allowing them to communicate or even visit the forums, and in the case of BZP also don't usually have a person bragging about it on Twitter.

And when Websites get hacked, one of the things you should never, ever do is simply go "oh it's a prank". You take it seriously. Black Six did. Gatanui did. (I can tell by their Twitter accounts.)

I should also mention that BZP's Pranks pretty much never get users irritated at someone. Usually it's something not at all malicious and rather something playful. (Hapori Tohu, Staff Name Changes, tame stuff like that.)

Not to mention, how in the world could this be a prank?

He didn't remove a single line of code. He did more than that. He removed the news (which is why they are recovering them), the staff bios, a lot of the things linked to on the front page.

Look, I don't know a lot about programming, but in my experience removing a few lines from a page would distort it like what you saw. He did remove the staff bios, but again, all he really seemed to do was remove the bios by standard text deletion(ie highlighting it and pressing the spacebar). What I don't get is why he wanted the forums opened. If he had access to the database, it seems like he could do whatever he wants to the forum. And if he wanted to broadcast some hideous truth about the staff, he could have done it on twitter.

As for the timer: at one point he said, "you have three minutes to open the forum or I'll escalate things." And in a minute he manually changed it to two minutes. Then one minute. Countdown programs aren't hard to do xD Heck, I've made them in the past.

Simply put, it makes no sense to me how this guy got the database in the first place.

No, not the ACP. Seems like it was even further in than that. You can't edit the News Page and stuff from an ACP like that.(The ACP only corresponds to forums, unless it's like this... Which is a different situation.)
