Today, I am most sad, and ashamed to be an American. My fellow Americans are rioting in the streets.. protesting in some cities, but rioting in many. Buildings have been burned, and heaven help us, people have been shot. Just a few days ago Obama and Hillary were both talking about coming together as a country. And now this.  There has even been talk of assassination.     

I am not a Trump fan.. never have been, didn't vote for him. Didn't vote for Killery either. The third party candidate got my vote.  But Trump won. So the thing is to make the best of it.   

I think we will see cuts to welfare and immigration.   But I also think we will see more real jobs, so those who want to work can.   I do not think the LGBT+ community has much to fear, as Trump was a NY liberal most of his life, and in the real world has nothing against any of them.  His followers may be a different story, and I do sadly suspect some people will be harassed on the streets.. most likely foreigners. On other issues. no one can be sure what he will do.. he flip flopped on so many issues during his campaign..including the wall.     
Bottom line, I believe we can survive this. And I pray that I am right.

Is it really possible to create 'real jobs' the way that everyone thinks, though? And even then, what will happen with those jobs? There are plenty of jobs where I live, and tend to rotate a lot, but to even have a chance, you need experience, typically in that field, and that won't really help anything if there's not any chances given...

Like, I'd be all for people being given a shot, but I don't see how it can happen like this... especially if it comes at the cost to other people.

The followers thing can and has happened already, too. =/ People have just been looking for an excuse, I bet, especially given how nothing really went away, though it got quieter.

Another good point you brought up is how everything is unpredictable because he flip-flopped so much... That's... not really a good sign, IMO. =/

I'd love to be proven wrong with my current pessimism about Trump, I'd love love love it. And I do believe that everyone can eventually survive this. But you can't deny that people are scared for a reason. Not with everything that's been coming out recently about different things, and just... I don't know.

But the majority of people who voted R  did not vote FOR Trump, they voted AGAINST Hillary. The true haters are in the minority, as are the democrat protesters that are burning things and causing problems.
The majority of people are good, if we give them a chance.

One thing to bear in mind is that most of the people who voted R did not vote FOR trump, they voted AGAINST hillary.  The haters are in the minority, as are the dem protesters who are burning things and causing destruction.
Most people are good, if we give them the chance.

Oh yeah... this election was a real humdinger. I've never followed an election so closely before, and I don't think very many people have seen such terrible candidates before. But I'm hopeful that we can move past it. We've experienced worse, I think, but many people seem to have taken it as an indication that their hate for (insert group here) is warranted. That seems to be the most worrisome thing of all.

Not much else to say about the election that's already been said, but absolute 'safest' case scenario would be that everyone in Senate thinks his policies are too 'wacky' or 'extreme'  and they don't get voted through.

...On a brighter note Happy birthday Original Xbox! It gave us Ninja Gaiden Black and that's why I still have my Xbox HEUG and 360 for Ninja Gaiden 2 and Lost Odyssey.

These post election demonstrations (riots) are making me crazy. I don't like him but he's gonna be flying the plane we are all on, so why wish him to fail??

Some people are saying the people worried are like the 'OBAMA WILL TURN THE US INTO A MUSLIM CALIPHATE' people. Thing is, AFAIK, Trump actually said the things people are worried about.

And a lot of not very nice people now feel it's acceptable for them to be not very nice. Human empathy feels like it's at an all-time low.

And you might ask why I care? Because, despite the rhetoric of 'Make America Great Again', the USA is one of the most powerful and influential countries out there. Nearly every other country in the western world looks to the US in some way, and even some in the eastern world. If something major happens in the US, the rest of us will hear about it too. When someone like Trump wins - and considering the rhetoric of him and his supporters - there's a lot of good reasons why a good number of people are worried, even those not from the USA. Because a lot of not very people - not just from the US - will feel emboldened to do horrible things.

It's not the end of the world, true. But for a lot of people, it may very well be the end of a safe world.

I'm not afraid of him... and I'm Hispanic. I do feel sorry for our Muslim and LGBT friends though since it seems like they may be targeted and affected the most.

I'm not sure what all the racists and white supremacists are getting all worked up about; it's not like Trump is calling for the suppression of minorities or anything. He's already made the call that he's deporting undocumented immigrants with criminal records (and is undecided about the "terrific ones"), so it's not like this country is going to be free of minorities and segregation and the Jim Crow Era will erupt again...

Unless I'm missing something.

I am very worried about the future example Trump is setting. The white supremacists are not being backed by Trump, BUT. The message issued by people like him and Steve Bannon of Breitbart (I have another name for that thing) apparently matches the message of WS and racists around the country. Breitbart represents the maybe 1-4% lunatic right wing fringe that nobody really like, and Trump represents that. The only reason he won was (I hope) because he had such a truly reprehensible person running against him.
Muslims are worried. Hispanics are worried (Trump insulted the reliability of a judge because he was Hispanic). Normal people who don't hate and are generally good people, are very worried. Oh, I'm not worried about myself. Not really. I'm a white straight dude. Trump seems to LOVE my demographic.  Might be the only one he hasn't insulted.

Lel, well I'm in the bluest part of my state (within a red state) so it's pretty safe here from all the extreme racists and whatnot. Sure you've got plenty of bad apples here, but they'll get shut down quickly....

Maybe that's good reason to stay here and avoid going elsewhere when I graduate..

In the primaries, Frump only got about 3.3 million Republican Votes. The rest were Democrats, approximately 12 million of them. And Killery beat Bernie in the primaries due to super-delegates..
and maybe some arm twisting. Not many people really voted FOR Frump in the general.. they voted against Killery. They voted against sanctuary cities. They voted against illegal from any country given preference over Vets and other citizens, against the Govt being able to decide who we can and must do business with, against foreign aid when we have so many homeless and hungry here. Most conservatives have nothing against legal minorities from any country.
Frump is one person.. it is up to US to make sure we do not loose sight of why this country was founded.  He is only in it for the glory, no matter what he says. And DO remember tow things.. you cannot count on what he says..and whatever he says the press will  blow it out of proportion.

As for Breitbart.. Andrew must be truning over in his grave.

Agreed. Steve Bannon took Breitbart, which evidently used to be just a regular conservative news outlet, and then turned it into a Limbaugh-esque vitriol reel.

I'm not sure exactly why people voted from Trump. I think a lot of people were angry at the system and they thought he would be good at attacking it. Welp, we'll see how that goes. O_O
