Anyway, here are my thoughts on that verse...
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever should believe in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” -John 3:16
"For God so loved the world... He gave His only begotten Son..."From what I take, is that God loved His creation so much, that He couldn't leave us to our own demise. Thus, He was willing to give up His only Son, the only perfect man.
Since He is merciful yet just, Jesus was our only chance of salvation.
"...whoever should believe in Him should not perish, but have eternal life."But, God made us with choice. Thus, it is our choice to accept His gift or not. If we should choose to accept His gift, eternal life is given to us. If we don't accept his free gift, however, our souls are led to perish in hell.
