Title: Malware Alert Post by: Legodac on December 12, 2011, 06:30:06 pm If this isn't news, then I don't know what is, perhaps we need an "ALERT" or "ALARM" section here to post things of this nature. I am cruising through our pages and looking at "Scavenger Hunt For Pictures", I then decide to go back to page one and start a view order, here is what I got, may be important to the mods here

Not doing it now, when I clicked the page one, it went there for a moment, then a warning of Malware came up, just thought you should know. Title: Re: TOWLER Magazine Post by: Legodac on December 12, 2011, 07:50:29 pm I guess this was a false alarm, seems Blade and the rest of the mods aren`t too interested.
Well then, here is something that they may be even less interested in. We all know LU will be put to a quick death in the new year, we also know that Design by Me will no longer be sending you your creations after you have designed them, that I can understand, and relate to as well. My boggle is this though, for the last few weeks, and you would only know this if you still played MLN, The ``Electro Pellet Module Rank 2`` no longer has a place to comment on the creation you are viewing. This module was related to LU and it offered the Lego Fan a way to show not only more than one picture, but lxf. files and even the odd cool movie. I am still active in MLN and I prove this by my Trades topic in the LMB`s. My cool friends there noticed this around the same time I did. I have sent my concern to the highest level and now one even higher.... :o Title: Re: TOWLER Magazine Post by: The Truth on December 12, 2011, 08:23:30 pm http://www.mlno.org/index.php/topic,5973.0.html Just checked the page. No sign of malware there. Not doing it now, when I clicked the page one, it went there for a moment, then a warning of Malware came up, just thought you should know. What antivirus do you use? Title: Re: TOWLER Magazine Post by: Legodac on December 12, 2011, 08:27:03 pm Perhaps AB-Z's application had something to do with what I saw
Title: Re: TOWLER Magazine Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on December 12, 2011, 10:40:17 pm NO.. I just saw it....

Thanks MsRR. :) Title: Re: TOWLER Magazine Post by: The Truth on December 13, 2011, 01:23:53 pm That's so weird that I didn't get the warning...
Title: Re: TOWLER Magazine Post by: Legodac on December 13, 2011, 01:30:52 pm Perhaps it wasn't a false alarm after all, whatever it is, it's doing a good job of hiding itself
Title: Re: TOWLER Magazine Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on December 14, 2011, 03:03:28 pm http://www.mlno.org/index.php/topic,5973.0.html Not doing it now, when I clicked the page one, it went there for a moment, then a warning of Malware came up, just thought you should know. I believe I have fixed the problem. I went in with Firefox with spybot and removed any image that did not show. I need someone else to verify that it's ok now. Title: Re: TOWLER Magazine Post by: Legodac on December 14, 2011, 04:45:11 pm If this isn't news, then I don't know what is, perhaps we need an "ALERT" or "ALARM" section here to post things of this nature. I am cruising through our pages and looking at "Scavenger Hunt For Pictures", I then decide to go back to page one and start a view order, here is what I got, may be important to the mods here Well MsRR, here's what happened, when I clicked the link from my original post, post 88 I think, the quote above, it went straight to the warning, then I did it several times more and it didn't happen again.http://www.mlno.org/index.php/topic,5973.0.html Title: Re: TOWLER Magazine Post by: Legodac on December 14, 2011, 04:47:25 pm However, when I logged off and then back in again, it went to the warning again, pretty strange eh?
Title: Re: TOWLER Magazine Post by: Legodac on December 14, 2011, 04:49:02 pm And again, yet when I click the second and third, it doesn't show
Title: Re: TOWLER Magazine Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 14, 2011, 04:51:34 pm It's still being worked on.
Title: Re: TOWLER Magazine Post by: Legodac on December 14, 2011, 04:56:39 pm NP buddy, I have become highly adept at restorations since I have destroyed 3 PC's in the last year alone
Title: Re: Malware Alert Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on December 14, 2011, 07:13:45 pm NOW SMF support says it is probably an ad. I have adblock so I do not see them.
Title: Re: Malware Alert Post by: Legodac on December 14, 2011, 07:39:50 pm Thank you, I was hoping you would do this, I was beginning to run out of ink
Title: Re: Malware Alert Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 14, 2011, 07:43:24 pm *Raises eyebrow* That shouldn't really make sense, though...
Title: Re: Malware Alert Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on December 14, 2011, 07:56:55 pm Furthermore, both Legodac & I have google chrome, I believe, while The Truth has a different browser, which may account for wht he did not get the message.. the warning appears to be a chrome feature.
Title: Re: Malware Alert Post by: Legodac on December 14, 2011, 08:04:35 pm Interesting MsRR, that could be, me thinks we need a few more guinea pigs
Title: Re: Malware Alert Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 14, 2011, 08:20:10 pm *Looks around* Why are you all looking at me so suspiciously. *Someone holds up a "Guinea Pig" sign and tapes it to Blade* ... Uh-uh, I'm not testing this. ._.' Much as I want to get to the bottom of this myself; I'm not risking this laptop to do it...
Title: Re: Malware Alert Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on December 14, 2011, 08:22:13 pm Which is why I think it might be wise to just delete the topic and move on.
Title: Re: Malware Alert Post by: mtmerrick on December 14, 2011, 10:40:35 pm have to agree there. chrome caught it for me too, truth's probably infected tho :/ and FYI it is atill doing it.
Title: Re: Malware Alert Post by: The Truth on December 14, 2011, 11:29:38 pm Don't worry, no infection for me- I have Adblock Plus, NoScript, and Microsoft Security Essentials. And I never miss a patch.
Title: Re: Malware Alert Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on December 14, 2011, 11:54:50 pm But you got no warning...
Title: Re: Malware Alert Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 15, 2011, 07:55:32 am AdBlock and NoScript likely disabled the thing from the start. xD
If we could track down the offending image and delete it, then we could get rid of it... Title: Re: Malware Alert Post by: Jade on December 18, 2011, 03:49:53 pm I'm using FF, with AdblockPlus and something AVG installed, and I'm not seeing the message.
Title: Re: Malware Alert Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on December 18, 2011, 04:14:53 pm It seems only Chrome users see the message...??
Title: Re: Malware Alert Post by: Legodac on December 19, 2011, 07:37:55 pm Well, first, thanks to the mods here and thank you for your efforts, I guess we can all relax now
Thank you again I'll take this issue up with Google |
