Title: NEW BANNER REQUEST Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on March 12, 2012, 05:23:42 pm OK creative people..
As DDude pointed out in staff today, LU is gone and most likely not coming back. Sadly he is correct. I would like to commission a new banner, keeping the name, but with clear emphasis on the words LEGO and Organization. I see maybe a brick melange background, and possibly minifigs.. no LU oval. Colors should go well FIRST with the TASoA skin. If there are multiple submissions we will most likely either have a staff vote or a full forum vote. Thanks in advance. Title: Re: NEW BANNER REQUEST Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on March 12, 2012, 05:54:41 pm We had issues with that causing lag in the past... but I will work on finding a solution.

I think there's a CSS equivalent...Title: Re: NEW BANNER REQUEST Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on March 12, 2012, 10:30:08 pm We tried centering with this one, and had uuber lag.. but if someone can code it so there is NO lag I am all for it!!
Alternatively, we might try a banner that is as wide as the box with transparent rectangles on both sides to force centering... Title: Re: NEW BANNER REQUEST Post by: Jas765 on March 13, 2012, 07:09:23 am From what I recall the reason centring stopped working with this banner was because it was resized and the centring code relies on the specific dimensions, which were not updated when the banner was resized. That or it required the right file name which changed when it was resized.
...or maybe it was lag, I can't remember. in all honesty, making a banner with transparent rectangles on either side is an extremely impractical idea, the most obvious reason being people have different dimension screens and there will be no perfect measurement. If we were to make a new banner, you'd have to consider what the 'edge' of it would be, and how that would be made clear. aka, would the background fade out, or will it be confined to a shape? And perhaps we'd want to take a slightly different route and create a logo that can be associated with MLNO and not just a banner, so the logo element can be taken out and identified as representing us. Or maybe I'm just tired and ranting about stuff without even thinking. I also don't entirely see the point of making a new banner, sure LU's gone, but we have heritage in it and perhaps it's worth keeping the LU oval as a way of 'respecting the past' as it were? And I'm not too sure if I'd have time to make a banner, maybe I'd give it a try but I've been pretty busy with stuff lately.I'm surprised I saw this on the day it was posted. MTM and a few others have expressed an interest. Don't feel obligated if you don't have time, but you are certainly welcome if you do. Why we are changing is multifold. Mainly this banner is too LU looking. LU is gone, and we are rebranding but not renaming. Truth.. I am not sure about code, the old banner was much too big before it was resized. Title: Re: NEW BANNER REQUEST Post by: The Truth on March 13, 2012, 06:38:09 pm Well, the code would be for centering. But you can resize with CSS too.
Title: Re: NEW BANNER REQUEST Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on March 16, 2012, 09:16:50 am If resizing/centering can be done with CSS, I can just send a copy/pasted update into each of the CSS style files. The reason it didn't work, was because of the loading factor of the header files, which aren't hard coded into the site... If it was hard coded, there'd be no lag for anything, styleswapper included. Or, at least, no lag for it appearing. ;)
If the centering can't be done, it can be sudo centered; by simply including transparent pixels in the image until it's centered... But, then it won't be centered on higher resolution displays. Title: Re: NEW BANNER REQUEST Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on March 16, 2012, 11:39:29 am The banner is not in the headers...
Banner lives here: Theme Options and Preferences Logo image URL: http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/7654/mlnonewwyellow5.png Title: Re: NEW BANNER REQUEST Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on March 16, 2012, 11:52:30 am I know. But there was a code option to center it, even though it was input elsewhere. Since, you know, you can't use the theme place to center it, even though it's odd you can't.
Title: Re: NEW BANNER REQUEST Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on March 16, 2012, 12:08:25 pm ok...
Now all we need is a banner! =P |
