Title: Re: First and Favorites LEGO sets. Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on March 09, 2013, 08:12:30 pm Indeed. Those were the good ol' days indeed.
I forget if I got that set or not; it definitely looks familiar, and I know I got a fair few of the Johnny Thunder set. One of my favourite themes from that era, aside from Johnny Thunder and RoboRiders of course, was Rock Raiders. That was awesome, since it seemed to futuristic to me, and the special actions were awesome. To this day, the minifigure faces are much preferred for some custom minifigures... I tend to alternate between the people from Rock Raiders, and that one guy from Dino Island. =P Title: Re: First and Favorites LEGO sets. Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on March 09, 2013, 08:25:44 pm My first LEGO set goes back quite a bit further..
(http://imageshack.us/a/img249/8477/legogarage1um9.jpg) My favorites include Johnny Thunder, OLD space, OLD Castle, Rock Raiders and more. Title: Re: First and Favorites LEGO sets. Post by: The Truth on March 09, 2013, 08:27:33 pm My earliest LEGOs...Johnny Thunder, Alpha Team, BIONICLE, and Galidor.
Remember that scorpion palace Johnny Thunder set? My great-grandmother got me that present right before she died....It was my favourite for years. I even had the Johnny Thunder board game. Still have it, actually. Kept all my old LEGO sets. My Kek Powerizer still works! Title: Re: First and Favorites LEGO sets. Post by: KnightsFan on March 09, 2013, 08:49:23 pm I honestly can't remember a time when I didn't have legos. I think my first set was a box of random bricks, maybe from a friend. Actually, more likely there were legos in the house before I was born.
As for favorite, it's probably this, for sheer awesomeness. I think I'll have to go build it now that I'm thinking of it. Title: Re: First and Favorites LEGO sets. Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on March 09, 2013, 10:17:45 pm Nice. I never got to get any of those sets, though they always looked so cool to me; that and the old Ninjas. Really, there were a lot of themes I thought were very awesome, back when they came out. ^_^ Another theme that got me really interested, was the Roborider's successor. Of course, it's still rather recent, since it lasted so long, but Bionicle was always intriguing to me. The idea was just cool, and although I was initially disappointed that there were no more Roboriders, it was pretty cool, and I got started collecting all six of the Toa back at the time. never got to the Turaga, though the Matoran were amazing, and I enjoyed collecting them whenever I could get a chance to. =) Still wish I could've gotten Jaller, or Jala as he was known back then, but it was cool to collect Kongu, Matoro, and Maku(Macku? I know one's the more recent spelling, but I forget if that one was changed too or not. =/). =)
Title: Re: First and Favorites LEGO sets. Post by: KnightsFan on March 09, 2013, 10:28:20 pm Yep, Bionicle. I never really got the sets very much (though I managed to recently pick up a few on eBay, including Turaga Vakama), but I loved the story. I'm really just impressed they thought up a new type of launcher every couple of years or so.
And Macku is the more recent one. ;) Title: Re: First and Favorites LEGO sets. Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on March 09, 2013, 10:37:18 pm Yeah, that was indeed rather impressive, and is in fact true if you think about it, since the first three years had their own launchers with the discs, the Krana, and the kraata. I honestly hadn't truly noticed that, but it's right, and is a very cool fact. I must applaud them as well for it, and Hero Factory kinda seems to be keeping that trend alive. Kinda. Even if they are mostly just Thornax launchers repurposed, but then again, Bionicle did that with the Zamor launchers themselves twice, and the discs were used as well. And I kinda liked the Thornax launchers, simply because you built them yourself; it wasn't premade like the Midak Skyblasters were.
Alright; that's what I thought, but it's been a while since I actually stopped to think about the old spelling of all the names, so I couldn't remember if she was one of the ones who had been changes, like Jala and Hali. |
