Title: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on December 16, 2008, 12:44:13 am Hey, Jas! Looks like I'm your first customer! ;D :o ::) 8)
Once I'm done with my current LU Creation Lab serial "The Mines of Doom", I'd like you to illustrate my next serial, "Ray of Hope". In a nutshell, it explains how me and several other LU users originally lived in an alternate Star Wars universe, and how we came to live in LU. It will explain Flipz' backstory as well as how he got his "Plasma Hand", and will also reveal the backstory of Obliteron and several other villains I've created. This weekend I should be able to get you the backstory and possibly some photos of the characters. FYI, a large portion of this story feature the "Exarthian" creations by Farplanet, as seen on the LU Creation Lab. Thanks for helping me out with this! I was worried I'd have to terminate the project due to MoD delays... you truly are a Godsend. :) Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations Post by: Flipz on December 25, 2008, 02:19:01 am UPDATE: Hey, Jas, since MaraJade312, {502}Venom312, MSROWDYREDHEAD, and Matchoupatchou#1 will be in Ray of Hope, could you draw them based off this pic so I can see the kind of style you'll be using?
(http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii33/poochythegenius/DSCF0209b.jpg) Also, I wanted to let you know that RoH will be a frame story. The "frame" synopsis is as follows: [SPOILER] Beeky31, Flipz, and Treecleaver have asked MSROWDYREDHEAD, Marajade312, and Matchoupatchou#1 to help them track down the thief or thieves who have stolen many items from the Order of the Cloven Tree (including the Golden Katana and the catastrophically dangerous Random Crystal). Howver, shortly before they depart, MJ has a disturbing vision of the danger they will be facing, so she asks {502}Venom312, Mindless1987, Jas765 and SpaceDude1234567 to accompany them. When they reach the thieves' camp, the thief uses the Golden Katana to disarm them all, before revealing that she is, in fact Luna Miyalu, who was not killed as originally thought. Before she can finish them off, however, her "Master" steps out of the tent...and it is none other than Obliteron! His companion, Cy Bourg also steps out of the tent, and the three villians taunt Flipz, MJ, Venom, Mindless, Match, and SpaceDude, revealing that they are more than just users...they really live within the game world! Luna thus begins her tale of their origins a long time ago, in an alternate universe far, far away... [/SPOILER] So, what do you think? I'll have the full cast of RoH photographed for you by the New Year (I hope), minus the cast of the frame story. If you want, though, look up pictures of Star Wars Imperial Knights for reference-several of the heroes of the story will be Imperial Knights, so this way you could get some concept ideas for LEGO versions. EDIT: PS, sould you add "--SPOILERS AHEAD" to the topic title? I wouldn't want someone to inadvertently stumble across the entire plot of the story without knowing what they were getting in to. Thanks! Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Jas765 on December 25, 2008, 09:19:42 pm Done. I'll get to work on the 'concept art' tomorrow, as my auntie's coming in around half an hour.
Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on January 11, 2009, 08:36:06 pm Hey, Jas, here's another big story update. FYI, MSRR knows this much, since it could affect her planned story.
in "Ray of Hope" I'm going to reveal that MJ, Match, Venom, and I originally came from an alternate version of the Star Wars universe, one in which the Sith rule the Galaxy and the Galactic Empire is a good force whose Imperial Knights fight against the Sith. MJ, Match, and I are part of a group of Imperial Knights who are going to stop the Dark Jedi Obliteron before he can complete the Mass Shadow Generator. With us are fellow Imperial Knights Cy Bourg, Shira Brie (known in LU as Luna Miyalu), and Princess Niobe Fel, along with MJ's Jedi/Bounty hunter boyfriend Venom, his Jedi partner Mindless1987, and their Mandalorian ally known only as "The Space Man" (Spacedude1234567). We infiltrate Obliteron's base, but unbeknownst to us former Sith researcher Krystal Duon has also traveled to the base, along with an army of Sith who now seek her and the Faynex Talisman that bonded with her over 3,000 years ago. A battle ensues, and Brie's reckless use of Force Lightning activates the incomplete Mass Shadow Generator, which opens a portal into the Zone of Darkness (a pocket dimension that acts as a portal to many other universes. The portal swallows not only the base but the entire moon before collapsing. Shortly thereafter, Obliteron is rescued when Dr. Destructo tests his Doomsday Device for the first time. The Device opens a portal to the Zone of Darkness, and Obliteron uses the opportunity to escape. He immediately allies himself with Dr. Destructo, and this leads to the events in my first story. Meanwhile, those of us trapped in the Zone of Darkness begin trying to repair the Mass Shadow Generator in order to escape. However, Krystal, who has used the power of her Talisman to infect most of the Sith with nanites to brainwash them, begins to ambush the Imperials. Bourg, and Brie are taken and infected, but before they can infect the others, a Kagharak in LU opens a portal to the Zone to threaten you and 2Mak07. MJ and Venom, who have just found their freighter, rescue us (the Imperials) and fly us out of the Zone (Unknown to us, Brie and Bourg tagged along on the exterior of the freighter). We spot you and 2Mak07 and rescue you, and in return you help us establish our LU identities and pledge to protect our secret. Some more stuff happens afterward (including Spacedude1234567 and me getting captured by Bourg and infected with nanites), but that's pretty much all the info that might be pertinent to the LU/MLNO/MLN Team story. Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Jas765 on January 11, 2009, 08:39:35 pm Ok, I'll keep that in mind.
Sorry for the long wait, It's hard to find time for it. Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on January 11, 2009, 09:36:31 pm Ok, I'll keep that in mind. I know what you mean. MoD took a two-month hiatus in November because I was so busy!Sorry for the long wait, It's hard to find time for it. Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on January 24, 2009, 12:20:47 am Hey, Jas, how's the concept art coming?
Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Jas765 on January 24, 2009, 01:36:44 am It's a bit hard to do, considering the camera angle of the picture. Could you give me a more face-on picture of the characters?
Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on January 25, 2009, 06:25:01 pm Sure thing, though it may have to wqait about a week (so I can finish MoD photography).
FYI, more story info: Someone helps MSRR and 2Mak07 rescue us Imperials, and is in on the secret (don't know why I forgot to put that in earlier... ???). He will help SpaceDude1234567 learn to control his powers (and get BTW, you and probably 2Mak07 will be based off their MLN 'figs, so that might make it easier for you. Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on February 21, 2009, 02:35:02 am Hey, Jas, here's an update on RoH. I'm almost ready to send you a sample script so you can get started. I'll try to get those other pics for you (sorry it's taking so long), but for now I'd like you to give me concept art for the following characters:
*Captain Peachbeard: A Pirate captain. I think you can guess what his beard looks like. ;) Anything's OK for him, but I'd prefer him to be dark-colored and not have a peg leg or eyepatch. *Peachbeard's assistant: A short guy with a long nose. He likes the color green a lot, and has a green bandana. *2-4 other Peachbeard Pirates: don't worry about these guys too much, they'll just be in the background holding a treasure chest, shortly before dropping it to run away from an avalanche of peaches. *Young Treecleaver: He should look like this (http://us.universe.lego.com/en-us/CreationLab/DisplayCreation.aspx?id=9c1ad96f-4d00-42b2-83c7-ccd66d764362&challengeId=&SearchText=&SearchIn=&Sort=oldest&MemberId=e560c4f3-3399-4a0c-ad46-f03f2abe079e&Tag=), but without a shield, and his bandana should be replaced with Dr. Inferno's hair (http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/dsvelte/agents-seabase/b-drinfernogreets.jpg), but in brown. Also, the "canister" on his neck should be drawn separately (he doesn't have the Retractible Spatula yet). *Young Beeky31: He should look somewhat like this (http://us.universe.lego.com/en-us/CreationLab/DisplayCreation.aspx?id=59e26466-cf19-4f06-a96d-4e5cbc858c6e&challengeId=&SearchText=&SearchIn=&Sort=oldest&MemberId=5a53e025-4c1d-40eb-b057-cf6dcaa38534&Tag=), but he'll only be armed with the dagger and a *small* hammer (or possibly a sword). If you can make him look younger and less experienced than that, it would be great; the idea is that these are the characters before the became the heroes we know today (indeed, this is a part of the story that takes place before Beeky and TC meet me or SpaceDude! Note: I plan to use Young Beeky and especially Young Treecleaver as previews for "Ray of Hope," so if you like how they come out please feel free to post them in the LU CL, just make sure to include "Ray of Hope Preview" and include my name in the tags. It might also help if you mention in the description that "Ray of Hope" will come out after I finish "Mines of Doom" and that you will be illustrating it. *Imperial Knight Flipz: I'll upload a pic of him to the LU CL by next week. *Shadow Warrior/SpaceDude1234567: The concept segment won't require him to have his weapons, but I'll include the links (http://us.universe.lego.com/en-us//CreationLab/DisplayCreation.aspx?id=c58e7c71-8c3e-4c82-9d0b-0b9dfb0b2771&challengeId=&SearchText=&SearchIn=&Sort=&MemberId=6bd06df2-b664-4ed2-8b8a-845b3a6a33c7&Tag=) to the pics with his weapons (http://us.universe.lego.com/en-us//CreationLab/DisplayCreation.aspx?id=752dd368-808a-4a42-be38-62e392fb14b7&challengeId=&SearchText=&SearchIn=&Sort=&MemberId=6bd06df2-b664-4ed2-8b8a-845b3a6a33c7&Tag=) in case you want to draw them, too. SpaceDude will be doing a running effect at one point very similar to Fox's B-side move in Super Smash Bros Brawl, and I would like to see concept art for that as well. ;D *I need to PM him to make his minifig as he wants it to appear in the story; once that's done I'll let you know. *raft: Beeky and TC will be tied to a simple raft with a small mast that has a crossbeam. The sails will have been removed, but a red bandana (yes, that one...) and the canister (retracted Retractable Spatula) will be laying on it. I'll get you the sample script soon, but until then, Play Well, and God Bless. -flipz Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on March 13, 2009, 12:03:57 am How is this coming along? BTW, I posted a pic of my Imperial Knight form in the LU CL yesterday, so it should show up soon.
Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Jas765 on March 26, 2009, 03:36:03 am Okay, here's a 'beta' for young treecleaver:
(http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/uu25/JasMart/Picture2.png) (http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/uu25/JasMart/youngtreecleaver.png) I don't really like how the hair turned out. could you post a more face-on pic? Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on March 31, 2009, 09:51:30 pm Hmm...now that I see it I'm not sure I like that hairstyle. Could you maybe try this one?
(http://fc07.deviantart.com/fs24/f/2008/008/3/6/Hungry_Luma_by_professorhazard.jpg) (BTW, TC's shirt should still be tan, just without the equipment on it. ;)) Also, could you do a hand-drawn version? I just want to see so I can make the final decision as to whether the story should be done by hand or by computer. In other news, here is the complete meta-framework for the entire story: The story will start in the present day, and will seem almost like just another adventure. However, after the heroes encounter the villian(s), a huge secret will be revealed about certain characters' past. At that point, the story will enter the first major flashback sequence, which will encompass the alt. SW arc. This flashback arc will also introduce the Exarthian Plague, though not by that name. Once that story has been told, we will return to the present, and a sudden catastrophe will put everyone in danger (heroes and villians alike). Everyone will get separated into smaller groups, and over the course of the rest of the present-day adventure, there will be two more flashback sequences (interlaced with the present-day ation). One will involve the Alt. SW characters' first few days in LU, while the other will detail Sam's adventures on the Exarthian, as well as the unexpected turn of events that lets him prove himself a hero. (A third, shorter flashback sequence explaining the true origins of the Plague may or may not be inserted/included as a bonus feature.) Finally, when everything looks hopeless (and I mean hopeless!), Sam will fly in and save everyone. However, the true villian will still be loose, and after an epic confrontation, the loose ends will be tied up and the story ended. Hmm... It's up to you. Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on April 11, 2009, 04:17:25 pm Hmm...try keeping the sideburns from the old version (as well as that bit of hair that hangs over the face) and then have the top styled like the new version. It should have a lot of volume (like the first one) but also be neat, clean, and easy to draw (like the second one). ;)

Should we change the colour of the beard, because he has brown hair? Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on April 11, 2009, 04:55:18 pm Good idea. Maybe it should have just a hint of brown in it.
Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Jas765 on April 11, 2009, 05:56:07 pm Like this?
(http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/rr191/Jas765/youngtreecleaver-2.png) Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on April 11, 2009, 07:04:59 pm Perfect!!! Could you post it to the LU Creation Lab under the name "RoH Teaser 2-Young Treecleaver"?
Here's a sample description; feel free to change anything that doesn't work: Quote After a series of unusual events, several heroes (and villians) escape the Zone of Darkness into LEGO Universe. Not long after their arrival, they meet Treecleaver, who is trying to secure his reputation as the greatest adventurer in the Universe, at an item trading event called "The Beta Bazzar". When disaster strikes the Bazzar, however, Treecleaver and his friend Beeky31 quickly team up with the heroes to defeat the menace... This is how Treecleaver will appear in the "Early Days" flashback sequence of Flipz' upcoming story serial, "Ray of Hope", which will be illustrated by me. EDIT: Quote tags added for clarity. ;) Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Jas765 on April 11, 2009, 11:05:53 pm 'K.
Could you make a description for Jas, so I can put that one up, too? Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on April 13, 2009, 11:34:22 pm 'K. Could you make a description for Jas, so I can put that one up, too? Sure thing! How's this? Quote It's me, Jas765, as I will appear in Flipz' upcoming story serial, "Ray of Hope" (which will be illustrated by yours truly)! An exceptionally gifted and mild-mannered artist, Jas starts the story as the bearer of bad news to Flipz, Treecleaver and Beeky31. Drawn into the investigation, he soon finds himself over his head in mysteries, secrets, and intrigue. However, when a simple confrontation becomes a struggle for survival, his ingenuity and old-fashioned courage keep alive the heroes' lone ray of hope... Jas is equipped with two main items of equipment (not pictured here): a Power Pencil he can use to make his drawings come to life and an Omni-Directional Sketchpad that gives him a stable drawing surface anytime, anywhere. Credit for the description goes to Flipz. Again, feel free to change anything you like (especially for this one!). Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Jas765 on April 14, 2009, 07:40:17 am Thanks!
I'd just like to ask first, could we change the power pencil to a sonic screwdriver, which has a power pencil on the end? I'm just checking, because it might change the plot a little bit. Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on April 14, 2009, 07:48:25 pm Thanks! I'd just like to ask first, could we change the power pencil to a sonic screwdriver, which has a power pencil on the end? I'm just checking, because it might change the plot a little bit. Sure-I think. Your drawings will still be able to come to life, right? If so, then it's OK if the name is changed. ;) Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on April 14, 2009, 08:09:35 pm Here's the a list of the rest of the characters we'll need done for you to be able to draw my sample script. Most are copied from before, but there have been some updates. The ones in green are the easiest ones to start with ;):
Quote from: flipz *Captain Peachbeard: A Pirate captain. I think you can guess what his beard looks like. ;) Anything's OK for him, but I'd prefer him to be dark-colored (in clothing) and not have a peg leg or eyepatch. If you can make him look younger and less experienced than that, it would be great; the idea is that these are the characters before they became the heroes we know today (indeed, this is a part of the story that takes place before Beeky and TC meet me or SpaceDude!). UPDATE: I have come up with a better costume idea for Beeky. He should have black pants, a white sleeveless shirt/vest with two pockets on it (these pockets should be represented as lines, much like the pockets on my LU version of the Mythbusters), and a white headband with a red logo of some sort on it (possibly the LU logo). Note: I plan to use Young Beeky and especially Young Treecleaver as previews for "Ray of Hope," so if you like how they come out please feel free to post them in the LU CL, just make sure to include "Ray of Hope Preview" and include my name in the tags. It might also help if you mention in the description that you will be illustrating "Ray of Hope". *Imperial Knight Flipz: I'll upload a pic of him to the LU CL by next week. I've posted him in the LU CL as "RoH Teaser 1-Imperial Knight". His face is blurred out, but I'm sure you know what his face looks like. ;) *Shadow Warrior/SpaceDude1234567: The concept segment won't require him to have his weapons, but I'll include the links (http://us.universe.lego.com/en-us//CreationLab/DisplayCreation.aspx?id=c58e7c71-8c3e-4c82-9d0b-0b9dfb0b2771&challengeId=&SearchText=&SearchIn=&Sort=&MemberId=6bd06df2-b664-4ed2-8b8a-845b3a6a33c7&Tag=) to the pics with his weapons (http://us.universe.lego.com/en-us//CreationLab/DisplayCreation.aspx?id=752dd368-808a-4a42-be38-62e392fb14b7&challengeId=&SearchText=&SearchIn=&Sort=&MemberId=6bd06df2-b664-4ed2-8b8a-845b3a6a33c7&Tag=) in case you want to draw them, too. The sails will have been removed, but a red bandana (yes, that one...[i.e. the one Treecleaver wears today]) and the canister (retracted Retractable Spatula) will be laying on it. Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on April 19, 2009, 10:15:50 pm Hey, Jas, could we put a rush on Young Beeky and Imperial Knight Flipz? I want to have all character profiles in the Creation Lab by Friday May 8th, but more importantly I hope to have the first sample script illustrated by May 22nd so we have time to have several parts completed by my projected release date of June 26th. Getting these three done will greatly speed things along.
Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Jas765 on April 22, 2009, 06:32:06 am 'k. I'll start with beeky. ;)
Argh, Jas was denied because it 'included personal information'. I'll try again, rewriting the description so it says I'll be called 'Jas', and see if that gets past. If that doesn't work, I'll just stick 765 at the end of my ROH name. Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on April 28, 2009, 09:25:18 pm So, how's it going?
Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Jas765 on May 02, 2009, 06:18:20 pm Sorry for the wait, school started again.
Here's young beeky: (http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/uu25/JasMart/beeky-1.png) Could you give me the transcript of the first part so I can work on that? Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on May 02, 2009, 11:40:53 pm Sorry for the wait, school started again. Here's young beeky: http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/uu25/JasMart/beeky-1.png Could you give me the transcript of the first part so I can work on that? Sure! Give me 5 minutes to create a couple of paneling layouts. EDIT: Here are the paneling layouts. It'll make it easier to read the script. ;) FYI, I have to make a new set of these for each part; the closest thing to a "Standard" panel layout would be the Even four-segment split in Image 2, and even that will change from part to part (notice, for example, that the reading flow differs between Images 1 and 2). On another note: Yes, I know that all the panel borders are straight; this is because I can't draw a square (or even a straight line) to save my life, so I just used the table functions in Word. Please, PLEASE add slants and angles as necessary to make things clearer as needed; we don't want to confuse the readers, now do we? And now, without further ado, the paneling layouts for Part 1 of the "Early Days" sequence of "Ray of Hope"! (http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii33/poochythegenius/Ray%20of%20Hope/Paneling/RoH_EarlyDays_Part1_A.jpg) (http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii33/poochythegenius/Ray%20of%20Hope/Paneling/RoH_EarlyDays_Part1_B.jpg) Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on May 03, 2009, 12:55:53 am (Double posting to keep the post size reasonable)
Also, you don't have to draw the word balloons if you don't want to. I'll be putting the text in them anyways so I can get the right font style, so as long as you leave room for them, it's OK. Either way works for me. ;) Image 1) I: scene: Captain Peachbeard stands gloating in the foreground while several of his crew carry off an overflowing treasure chest in the background. Near the crew are Young Beeky and Young Treecleaver tied back-to-back to the mast of a rickety-looking raft (Beeky faces downstream, which is to the right in this shot). Another crewmember stands near the raft with his sword out and a cut rope at his feet. He has obviously cut Beeky and TC loose from the rock to which the raft had been tied. CPb: At last! Captain Beardbeard the Great's legendary treasure, his Retractible Spatula, is mine! II: scene: First Mate Pit stands in front of Peachbeard, facing the river (Peachbeard himself faces the audience just like in the last shot). It is a closer shot (cutting both pirates off at the waist or maybe even higher), and the background is highly simplified to draw attention to Peachbeard's shocked expression. FMP: Umm...Cap'pn? Do you mean that grimy old spatula that was on top of the chest? Uh...we, erm, sort of...left it with the prisoners when we cut them loose. I didn't realize- CPb: Peaches! FMP: I'm sorry, Cap'pn! I'll have the men- CPb: No, not the Spatula- III: scene: An avalanche of peaches cascading down the mountainside from an overturned truck, with Peachbeard and the other pirates fleeing for their lives. (They are running towards the right-hand side of the panel; the edge of the river is just visible at the bottom of the panel.) CPb:-it's an avalanche of peaches! IV: scene: TC and Beeky tied to the raft as it floats downstream. The camera is facing the right-rear corner of the raft, so Treecleaver is facing the audience. TC: Uh...guys? A little help here? = TC: Anyone?! *Quick note: an = immediately between two consecutive lines of dialogue spoken by the same character indicates that the second line is in a second word balloon that is connected to the first. If the = is absent, the character will use two separate word balloons.* Image 2) I: Scene: the raft. The camera is facing the front of the raft, but is off to the raft's left a little bit (i.e. it looks similar to this: / /). Beeky's face is visible to the audience. B31: Oh, no! TC: Don't tell me. We're about to go over a HUGE waterfall. II: Scene: the raft. reverse of previous shot (facing Treecleaver). B31: Yup. TC: Sharp rocks at the bottom? B31: Most likely. III: Scene: Close-up of Treecleaver's face, with emphasis on his eyes. TC: Bring it on. IV: Scene: Wide shot of the waterfall. The tiny raft appears to have just begun to fall from the edge. TC: BOO-YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!! I'll give you the script for the rest of the images in a bit. ;) Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on May 03, 2009, 03:00:21 am Whoops, I made a mistake with the paneling for image3. There are actually 5 panels, not 4. Oops, and there are some more mistakes--let me fix this...
EDIT: Never mind. I just tweaked a few things in the script, so everything works now. Just keep in mind that Panel 2 in Image 3 is now split vertically into Panels 2a and 2b. Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Jas765 on May 24, 2009, 01:48:13 am One day late's not too bad :P
Okay, here's shot 1 I: (http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/uu25/JasMart/100_1240.png) EDIT: Shot 1 II: (http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/uu25/JasMart/100_1241.png) Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on May 25, 2009, 01:32:05 pm No it's not bad at all! Though for readability, the text should be in all caps, and the words "Retractible Spatula" in the first panel should be bolded. Nice job with the different font sizes-I would never have thought of that.
And, since I keep forgetting to give this to you, here's the rest of the script for this part: Image 3: I: scene: Stranger and SpaceDude1234567 entering a forest clearing where Flipz waits for them. (Stranger and SD are near the lower-left corner, and flipz is just to the left of center.) There are two ghost images of Flipz doing a backflip onto a high tree branch, and a solid (i.e. normal) image of Flipz perched on said branch. Stranger: OK, Flipz, we got your message. What's up? Flipz: I think it's time Alex-erm, I mean, SpaceDude-and I compare notes on our new powers. For instance--remember when SpaceDude discovered how to give himself a short burst of super-strength? Stranger: Vividly. And I have the scars to prove it... Flipz: Well, I've discovered I can alter other variables, such as mass-- = Flipz: --density-- = Flipz: --and surface friction-- = Flipz: --so I can do awesome acrobatics like this! *Note: Each of these connected word bubbles will also have a trail pointing to one of the ghost images of Flipz, i.e. he is saying them in mid-leap. IIa: scene: Stranger and SpaceDude1234567 standing on the forest floor far below (left side of panel). The camera is looking over Flipz' shoulder from his perch on the tree branch. SD: Sweeeet! Stranger: Impressive. Can you alter any other variables? Flipz: That's why I wanted to compare notes. Besides the ones I just mentioned, I've only been able to improve my reflexes, memory, speed, and-- SD: Speed? As in, I can do super-speed?? This I've gotta try! Stranger: No, Alex, wait-- IIb: Scene: same as IIa, but a blurred line of ghost images extends from SpaceDude's former position to the upper right corner. Flipz:...you think we should have told him we're right next to a cliff? III: Scene: Young Beeky and Young Treecleaver, still tied to the raft as it falls down the waterfall. The red bandana and the retracted Spatula are floating a couple of inches off the surface of the raft (to give the impression of falling). (Square caption box): Meanwhile... B31 and TC: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! IV: Scene: Same as III, but Spacedude, still going at super-speed, has rocketed (left-to-right) across most of the panel, shattering the raft's mast and dragging Beeky, Treecleaver, and the Spatula and bandana clear. (It should be apparent that SpaceDude is doing this completely by accident, and was not trying to be a hero.) B31 and TC: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH-urk! To be continued, I'm going to submit this post so I don't lose too much if there's a glitch... Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on May 25, 2009, 02:00:11 pm Double-posting again to avoid running out of characters/post. ;)
Image 4: I: Scene: a "hero shot" of SpaceDude standing on a rocky cliff next to the waterfall (which is right behind him). Young Beeky is laying on the ground at SpaceDude's feet (the camera is looking over his shoulder), and Beeky is reaching for SpaceDude's outstretched hand. SD: Here, let me help you up. B31: Thanks, uhh... SD: Ale--erm, SpaceDude. Spacedude1234567. B31: Thanks, SpaceDude. You saved both our lives. II: Scene: The rocky cliff, this time with the camera looking over SpaceDude's shoulder. Beeky is on his feet now, and is looking down with his hand in his pocket, presumably looking for some kind of reward. Treecleaver can be seen in the background retreiving the bandana and Spatula. SD: It was nothing. = SD: literally. B31: Well, I'm afraid I must insist on giving you a reward. Now, would you be interested in-- III: Scene: Same as II, but SpaceDude is gone, replaced by a "whoosh" sound effect. Beeky is still in the same position as before, but now he's looking at where SpaceDude used to be. TC is in the background, fastening the bandana onto his head. B31: --Where'd he go? TC: Hey, Beeky! IV: A "hero" shot of Young Treecleaver, now with his trademark bandana and Retractible Spatula (which is now extended instead of retracted). He'd look really cool if his pose weren't so rediculous. the profile of Beeky's face can be seen along the left-hand side of the panel. TC: What do you think? B31 (thought bubble): You really don't want to know what I think of that pose... B31 (normal speech bubble): I think we'd better get going, or we'll miss the Bazzar. TC: Yeah, I suppose you're right... Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on May 25, 2009, 02:09:00 pm Image 5:
I: Scene: The clearing. The camera looks over SD's shoulder. Flipz has come back to the ground; he stands on the left. Stranger stands on the right. Flipz: SpaceDude! You're back! Stranger: Are you alright? SD: Yeah, I'm fine. Just makin' a couple of friends. II: Scene: Waist-up shot of Stranger (similar angle to I, but focused on Stranger; Flipz and SD are no longer visible). Stranger: This is getting far too risky--what if they saw you and recognized you using your powers? This whole secret could be blown! No, there's no doubt about it. We need to get you guys some disguises. A new look to go with your new names. New armor, clothes, weapons... III: Scene: Extreme close-up of Stranger's face (on the right-hand side, to leave room for the word balloon). Stranger: There's only one place where we can find all this stuff-- = Stranger: --the Beta Bazzar! Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Jas765 on May 25, 2009, 04:11:55 pm 'k, I'll try to do these on the weekend.
Wait, what does he look like? I don't think you ever told me. Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on May 25, 2009, 04:24:10 pm 'k, I'll try to do these on the weekend. Wait, what does he look like? I don't think you ever told me. Whoops, forgot to say. He looks just like his MLN 'Fig: kinda like the minifig on the far right of my sig, but with blonde hair and the face he uses on MLN. Come to think of it... EDIT: (http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii33/poochythegenius/Ray%20of%20Hope/RoHBannerv4.jpg) From left to right: Master Cylar Bourg (Imperial Knight), Master Brisha Syo (Imperial Knight), Princess Niobe Fel (Imperial Knight/Princess), Master Jason Lavernious Williams (Imperial Knight) (a.k.a. Matchoupatchou#1), Master Amarus Zagrene (Imperial Knight) (a.k.a. Flipz), Master Laura Jade (Imperial Knight) (a.k.a. MaraJade312), Steven Skywalker (WIP name) (a.k.a. {502}Venom312), Alexander "Alex" Martins (a.k.a. SpaceDude1234567), and Minch "Mindless" Yoda (a.k.a. Mindless1987). And the ships are the Blue Shadow (MJ and Venom's ship) and the Exarthian Interstellar Explorer. Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on June 07, 2009, 08:12:35 pm Sorry for the wait, school started again. Here's young beeky: (http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/uu25/JasMart/beeky-1.png) Could you give me the transcript of the first part so I can work on that? OK, here's some profile information for Young Beeky: Quote This is Beeky31 as he will appear in the "Early Days" segment of Flipz' upcoming story serial "Ray of Hope", as illustrated by me! A trader and aventurer known Universe-wide for his honesty, Beeky is almost inseparable from his friend and adventuring partner Treecleaver. But when disaster strikes, the Beta Bazzar, he learns that his own destiny will lead him down a different path...and that his own unique skills could become the lone ray of hope for all humanity... BTW, I'm going to start a new topic to be devoted entirely to character sketches and concept art, so this one can be left to the story itself. OK? Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Jas765 on July 19, 2009, 08:16:36 pm I'm really sorry for the waiting, I've got 2 more done:
(http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/uu25/JasMart/100_1244.png) (http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/uu25/JasMart/100_1248.png) I tried a different font on these, so you can decide which one you like better. Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Jas765 on July 19, 2009, 10:29:13 pm I'm uploading images 2I-2IV now.

Could you please post pictures of it on as many different angles as possible?
Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on July 30, 2009, 11:14:21 pm Nice work on the new illustrations! However, I need you to put them aside for now--I have the script for the first part of RoH ready for you, so I'm going to type it up now.
Here's panel 1: Ray of Hope Act I: The Unforseen Quest: Part 1 1.) I: Scene: The exterior of the Kalmor Cantina, at night. The main sign has a light shining on it, as does a wooden marquee to the right saying, “Now Pl…JON…” (the marquee reads “Now Playing: Jonas Bros.”, but most of the sign is cut off by the edge of the panel.) Three silhouettes in the background are running near the left side, pursued by the silhouettes of a mob of crazed fans. (The implication is that they escaped from the back door of the Cantina.) Silhouette 2 (small text): Run for it, Nick! II: Scene: The interior of the Kalmor. Wide shot, towards the doorway. (The bar is in the middle of the left half of the panel, with the doorway in about the same position on the right half. The line representing the corner is just to the left of the middle line of the panel.) The Cantina is mostly empty, though the debris, overturned chairs, and damage to the stage and equipment indicate that it had recently been occupied by hordes of screaming fans who swarmed the stage not too long ago. Captain MacDonald, the bartender, stands behind the bar, cleaning the inside of the glass with a rag, and Beeky31, Treecleaver, and Bootsie606 have just sat down at the bar. CMD: Well, G’day fellas! ‘Tis been a Kracken’s age since I seen ye last, eh mate? TC: We’ve been kinda busy. Business has been slow these days. CMD: I don’t doubt it, wi’ the economy sinkin’ like a shipful o’ angry wombats. So, what’ll it be? B31: Oh, the usual. III: Scene: TC and B31 from Captain MacDonald’s view. CMD: All ri’, here ya go. A Cherry Root Beer for Treecleaver— TC: Yes! CMD: —an’ a steamin’ mug o’ Peach Cider for Beeky31. B31: Captain MacDonald, I keep telling you to call me “Beeky”. CMD: I’ll call ya “Beeky” when you call me “Roger”. B31: Fair ‘nuff. IV: Scene: B606 from Capt. MacDonald’s view. An empty barstool is to the left of Bootsie, and the cantina doorway is in the background behind said barstool. Flipz is standing in the doorway, holding a sealed scroll up in triumph (left hand). CMD: And what would you like, me li’l joey? B606: I’ll have a— Flipz: Eureka! I finally got it! Incidentally, I can't access my main computer right now (the motherboard died), so the photos will have to wait. Do you happen to have any Agents sets? Because Agents Chase and Fuse both have the same hairpiece, just in different colors. Oh, and I like the new font for the pirates, but I prefer the first one be used for the "normal" characters. If you have a computer-ish font, it might work well for thr brickghouls-essentially a cross between Rakghouls (from Star Wars) and the Borg, but done in a lego-esque manner. If you look at Farplanet's "Exarthian" creation, you can see them in the background behind Sam Magalore. Panel 2 soon... Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on July 31, 2009, 12:28:05 am Image 2:
I: Scene: Flipz standing at the end of the bar. Actually, he's leaning against the wall--and dangerously close to a wall-mounted torch... (NOTE: The shot shows the entire bar end-on. Nearest the camera is Beeky, then Treecleaver, then Bootsie, then the empty barstool. Capt. McD is even with Bootsie.) TC: So you got it?? The last remaining map to the Lost Treasure Caverns of Beardbeard the great? Flipz: Yup! TC: Wow! B31: You're on fire! Flipz: No, it was just a matter of paying the right people-- B31: No, I mean your sleeve is on fire! II: Scene: the end of the bar, with Flipz to the right (the wall with the torch is now the background). CMD is just setting a pitcher of water on the end of the table. Flipz is looking at his shoulder in confusion. Flipz: Huh? III: Scene: same as before, but CMD is no longer holding the pitcher and is looking at Flipz. Flipz' arms are flailing wildly, and he is trying to put out his flaming shoulder with the scroll (make this look as cartoonish and silly as possible). Flipz: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!!!!!! IV: Scene: same as before, but CMD is now looking at the scroll. Flipz' shoulder, while slightly blackened, is no longer on fire. He is sagging with relief. The scroll, which he is holding casually at his side, however, is now smoking ominously... Image 3: I: Scene: same as before, but now Flipz is looking at the scroll (which is now on fire) the same way he was looking at his shoulder... Flipz: Huh?!?! II: Scene: samee as before, but Flipz is now swinging the scroll up and down wildly in an attempt to make it go out. Flipz: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!! III: Scene: same as before, but now Flipz has plunged the scroll into the pitcher of water to put it out. The flame is gone, and a large amount of steam is emanating from the pitcher. SFX: Splash! SFX: HISSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! IV: Scene: Same as before, but flipz is again sagging with relief. Flipz: Phew! Image 4: I: Scene: same as before, but the view is shifted a little further to the left, so that Bootsie is now visible. B606: Hey, Flipz? Flipz: Hmm? B606: That's the last copy of that map in the Universe, right? II: Scene: same as before. Flipz: Yeah. Why? III: Scene: same as before. No dialogue. IV: Scene: same as before, but CMD is walking towards the left edge of the panel. Flipz is looking down at the scroll, worried (and a bit chagrined). Flipz: ...oh... CMD: I'll go get the hair dryer. Image 5: I: Scene: the outside of the cantina again, but this time without the mob. The lights on the marquee and the main sign are out, but there is still light coming out of the doorway. Also, it is now raining. A trio of silhouettes (actually Jas765, Sloopofwar, and LegoAlienGuy894, though this shouldn't be obvious) are standing in conference outside. Jas: ...and you're sure they're all in there? LAG894: Positive. Sloopofwar: Are you sure this is a good idea? Treecleaver's gonna roast us alive when he finds out. II: Scene: same as above Jas: Don't worry. If everything goes to plan, none of us will get hurt. Say, mind if I borrow your cloak? Sloopofwar: Not at all. Jas: Alright, then, here I go... III: Scene: Interior of the cantina. the left Half of the panel is blocked out by the robe of the silhouette (the camera is at a very low angle). The end of the bar is visible in the distance of the right half, where Bootsie and Flipz bent over the unfurled scroll, drying it with a hair dryer. CMD is standing behind the bar and looking at the silhouette's face (which happens to be well above the top border of the panel). The edge of the doorway is visible along the right border of the panel (i.e. Jas is standing in the doorway). CMD: Can I help ye? If yer lookin' for a drink, I'm sorry to say we're closed. IV: Scene: the lower half of Jas' face, specifically his mouth. (We're deliberately obscuring his identity to build suspense.) Jas: That's alright. I'm not here for a drink. = Jas: I need to talk to Treecleaver. = Jas: Alone. Incidentally, if you can improve your or Captain MacDonald's dialogue, please do so. I'm trying to make CMD sound like a cross between Steve Irwin and a pirate, and I want you to sound like yourself. I'm usually pretty good at making an accent apparent through dialogue, but since you actually live in Australia... ;) Also, If you need a reference for the good Captain's appearance, just look at my LU creation of the Kalmor Cantina. ;) Title: Re: Ray of Hope illustrations--SPOILERS AHEAD Post by: Flipz on September 07, 2009, 12:34:11 am Heeeeloooooooooooooooo?
