Title: Mars Mission (2007–2008)
Post by: Tommy_60 on September 19, 2009, 08:57:25 pm
What are your guys' opinions on the recently discontinued MarsMission theme?  It is my favorite theme EVER and I have all the sets other than the Alien Jet which was sadly not available in the U.S.A.

I thought it was an awesome theme, the colour scheme was great and I loved the glow in the dark aliens.

Mars Mission was one of my favorite themes(among Technic and Star Wars), and I was very sad to see it go.

It was a very well thought out theme, and the sets really complemented the plot.

But one of the things that made it a very good theme was one of the best lego.com games ever, Crystalien Conflict.

It is one of 2Mak07's favorite themes as well. I think the designs and concepts were great, but I don't think the sets offered any real opportunity for creative building...

Crystalien Conflict was one of the best lego.com games ever!

Yeah, I loved Crystalien Conflict, one of the three good games on LEGO.com (other two being Star Wars: Quest for R2-D2 and Glatorian Arena ).

I got that with the remote control and power functions... so much fun driving it round the house.

You non assimilated yet human, this counts as a general discussion topic/official topic, so no archiving!
Not my fault that nobody ever bothered to sticky it.
Plus, I kinda hoped you were reviving the forum, not sending it to the recylce bin. >.>
Meh, *Returns it to the Space forum*

Dude, people can just discuss this in the stickied lego space discussion. But I guess if you really want it, it can stay...

If that was the case, most forums would come down to a single topic.

In any case, what do all of you think abouth the MM Colors?

I loved the MM colours, orange and white, it's kind of what I imagine space sets to look like. I loved the green and black alien ships as well, I've still got some intact.

I also loved the marsmission storyline, but i didn't love that it's already stopped...

The colors and designs were cool, but the sets kinda fell apart a little.

Yes, I had the biggest set in Mars Mission, you know, the one that could split into several vehicles. Well, I was pretending to fly it around by the handle that it has, then suddenly, the elastic band came off, the wings then fell off and so did the platform. The elastic band made the platform go up and down, it took me ages to fix. Then it did it again, so I just made something else from it.

Liked the theme, a lot. Though the vehicles, especially the 07 Alien vehicles, fall apart a lot, annoyingly.

Yeah.. and what good is a ship if you can't fly it??

Well, they seemed to make up for it slightly with the cool colour scheme.

Very slightly.  But you wouldn't think so if you had seen 2Mak07's face when it fell apart right after he built it!

I thought the color theme was great but that the sets were a little cheesy cause I would often get them and they were made out of mostly large pieces hard to use in MOCs

MarsMission was the theme that introduced me to Lego.com, thus resulting in coming here!  I remember in November of 2007, my mom allowed to me to get the Claw Tank Ambush set.  Once I got home, I started building the alien ship.  I finished it that night.  I was about halfway done with the tank as well.  The next morning, I rushed downstairs to finish building it 'cuz the astronaut needed some defense from the alien ship.(He was hiding inside toilet paper rolls.)  After a month or two of playing with the set, I wanted more.  So I looked all through the instruction booklet, and then I found a little section of it talking about a 'lego website'.  On January 25, 2008, I joined Lego.com, all because of one Lego set.

The wheels of the rover look really cool. The accessories of minifigs are excellent IMO.

It's safe to say that theme was AWESOME, considering I collected so many of its sets, including:

    • Recon Dropship
    • Astro-fighter(2)
    • MTX Alien fighter
    • Alien Mothership

I'm thinking of rebuilding my astro fighters, since I had previously taken them down and attempted to put them together in a failed attempt (I saved the instruction booklet, lol).[/list]

    I save all my booklets.

I guess many people fight and crash with these fighters. Lego should say "Safety first."

The accessories of minifigs are excellent IMO.
The helmets are especially good. Gold masks.
