Please use correct grammar. It is hard to understand a review if it is in written in leetspeak, for example. Also, use legitimate Abilities and Natures SECTION ONE: THE REVIEW FORMAT The following format for my reviews go: Code: Name of Pokemon here, it is optional. * - The colors depend on the type of Pokemon type used. Explained in SECTION 2. ** - The colors depend on how high the Pokemon's stats are. Explained in SECTION 4. SECTION TWO: THE POKEMON TYPE FORMAT All Pokemon have specific types, and come specific colors to go with them. Here are the following legitimate types: ~ NORMAL Code: [glow=tan,2,300]NORMAL[/glow] Code: [glow=green,2,300]GRASS[/glow] Code: [glow=red,2,300]FIRE[/glow] Code: [glow=navy,2,300]WATER[/glow] Code: [glow=yellow,2,300]ELECTRIC[/glow] Code: [glow=turquoise,2,300]FLYING[/glow] Code: [glow=limegreen,2,300]BUG[/glow] Code: [glow=purple,2,300]POISON[/glow] Code: [glow=brown,2,300]GROUND[/glow] Code: [glow=tan,2,300]ROCK[/glow] Code: [glow=brown,2,300]FIGHTING[/glow] Code: [glow=violet,2,300]PSYCHIC[/glow] Code: [glow=lightblue,2,300]ICE[/glow] Code: [glow=indigo,2,300]GHOST[/glow] Code: [glow=purple,2,300]DRAGON[/glow] Code: [glow=black,2,300]DARK[/glow] Code: [glow=silver,2,300]STEEL[/glow] SECTION THREE: THE POKEMON INFORMATION FORMAT SECTION FOUR: THE POKEMON BASE STATS FORMAT SECTION FIVE: THE POKEMON MOVESET FORMAT Title: Re: Pokemon Reviews Topic Post by: . on November 03, 2009, 01:47:59 pm Omastar (sandstorm team tank/spiker version)
Type:ROCK/WATER Ability: Shell Armor - Blocks critical hits. Swift Swim - Doubles speed during rain. Tier: UU Stats:
Author's Opinion: Omastar can be an effective sweeper, but is even better on OU sandstorm teams. With a 50% boost in special defense, he can be a dominating special tank. He also has free fire switch-ins. he can be used as a sweeper on rain dance teams. I wouldn't recommend him on uber rain teams. However, his typing is a poor one defensively, with a 4x weakness to Grass, but regardless, he still does his job well done in UU. Recommended Movesets: Tank Nature: Calm Item: Leftovers EVs: 110 hp/100 defense/100 special attack/100 special defense ~ Ice beam ~ Surf ~ Ancient power/Earth Power/Hidden Power(?? ??) ~ Knock off This set will surprise a lot of people. with the boosted total of 105 special defence it can absorb a few blows. with its monstrous special attack it will OHKO unsuspecting enemies that think they can set up on it. Spiker Nature: Calm Item: Rindo berry EVS 252 HP/129 Def/129 Special Def ~ Spikes ~ Toxic Spikes ~ Stealth rock ~ Surf This setup is a very good spiker. It can last awhile with the boosts it gets in special defence. Surf is there for STAB and when you finished spiking/got taunted Countering Omastar: The tank set is destroyed by Grass moves. The spiker set is destroyed by spinners. Taunt can shut down the Spiker set and eventually get walled. Image coming soon. News and Improvements Section: My first real review. my ratata one doesn't count =P November third 2009 no updates =( Previous Reviews: No reviews =( was it a decent review? also i think alakazam got moved to uu... Title: Re: Pokemon Reviews Topic Post by: B~T on November 25, 2009, 09:16:05 pm In Thanksgiving honor, I need to think up of a bird Pokemon... Flying... I KNOW!
TOGEKISS!!! Type:NORMAL/FLYING Ability: Serene Grace - Doubles the side-effects of moves. Hustle - Physical attacks do 50% more damage at the expense of 2-% accuracy. Tier: OU Stats:
Author's Opinion: DUDEBOT TIME! Hey, he's the one who emphasized on why Togekiss is awesome... ::) 8) Dudebot: GGGGGRRRRRAAAAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGH HHH Wait, sorry wrong Pokemon. =P Anyways, Togekiss is an awesome Pokemon as you can see. With a stat total of 545, the second or third highest I forget, Paraflinch wreaks havoc on all teams. =D I use one to epically pwn Blade's team, old and new. As you can see, it is awesome. =D Recommended Movesets: Nature: Calm Item: Leftovers Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 252 HP/6 Defense/252 Sp Defense ~ Thunder Wave/Body Slam ~ Air Slash ~ Roost ~ Aura Sphere Dudebot: OMG This is my favorite moveset! =D Thunder Wave your opponent, and Air Slash and watch Body Slam is mentioned since it can Paralyze those Ground Types that are immune to it. D=< Note that you must transfer a Togetic from the 3rd Gen games in order for it to have it. But Thunder Wave is better though. Writer: Note that Nasty Plot is also viable, but it is an egg move. Countering Togekiss: Dudebot: Togekiss has no true counters. =D Nothing can stop the Paraflinch moveset. So I don't see why this section is necessary. Writer: Actually, it does. Electivire, Lanturn and Jolteon have abilities that absorb Thunder Waves and fire off their Electric moves and send Togekiss into oblivion. Not to mention higher Speed stats not names Lanturn. Dragonite is a counter thanks to Inner Focus, but Paralysis will cripple it for the rest of the match. Zapdos outspeeds it and cripples Togekiss with Thunder Wave and can ResTalk its way out of Status. Dudebot: Why did you have to ruin it... D= Image coming soon. News and Improvements Section: News section. What more? August 7, 2009. With his suggestion, I will add the Tier section to make things a lot helpful. It will be between the ability and stat sections. I will also link to previous reviews to make things a lot convenient in the section below. They will be listed alphabetically. Oh, and not to mention that this is also the first time I added the News Section :P. August 11, 2009 Added separate section for the previous reviews. August 12, 2009 Recolored Flying type. Title: Re: Pokemon Reviews Topic Post by: B~T on December 05, 2009, 04:32:30 pm It's snowing where I live.
To get into the holiday spirit (sort of), FROSLASS!!! Type:ICE/GHOST Ability: Snow Cloak - Doubles the side-effects of moves. Tier: UU Stats:
Author's Opinion: This is one of my favorite Pokemon, and it sure is one interesting Pokemon in battle. It has Destiny Bond and Spikes to make for an effective lead, and has the speed to be able to do so. Froslass should not be used as a sweeper, as Gengar and Mismagius outclass it, and using it as a Spinblocker is not a good idea as well since it has a 2x weakness to Stealth Rock. At least she gets STAB on Ice... Recommended Movesets: Nature: Timid Item: Focus Sash EVs: 4 HP/252 Sp. Attack/252 Speed ~ Spikes ~ Destiny Bond ~ Taunt ~ Ice Beam Froslass's good speed allows it to set up at least one layer of Spikes. Once it is near KO range, use Destiny Bond. Taunt slower leads to screw them over, and Ice Beam is there for your attack should the need arise. Countering Froslass: Tyranitar 's Sand Stream breaks Focus Sash and can Pursuit it to death, or use its STAB. Any other Pursuit user works as well. Azelf and Aerodactyl can Taunt the lead set and prevent Spikes and set up their own Stealth Rocks. Paralysis can cripple Froslass, and Stealth Rock prevents it from switching in too many times. It's below average defenses also mean that neutral hits are going to deal a ton of damage. Priority moves such as Bullet Punch and Shadow Sneak deals tons of damage and bypass its speed. Image coming soon. News and Improvements Section: News section. What more? August 7, 2009. With his suggestion, I will add the Tier section to make things a lot helpful. Title: Re: Pokemon Reviews Topic Post by: . on December 06, 2009, 09:45:06 am Shedinja
Type:BUG/GHOST Ability: wonder guard - only attacks that are super effective hit this pokemon Tier: NU Stats:
Author's Opinion: this pokemon may seem awful, but it can be a real threat if used right. it can almost always get in 1 boosting move. it is pwned by ttar, abomasnow, and hippowdon. Recommended Movesets: Nature: lonely/hasty Item: focus sash EVs: 4 special attack/252 attack/252 speed ~ agility ~ swords dance ~ x scissor ~ sucker punch/night slash/shadow sneak/shadow claw this meveset can lead to shedinja being a lethal force. though shedinja can be hard to set up. you may need a cleric, and you definately need a spinner. but this set allows atleast one boost by the focus sash, and probably two because of the need to switch in. the last slot is your personal choice. sucker punch or shadow sneak if you think you can't set up agility, but shadow sneak is more secure. night slash/shadow claw if you think you can, night slash for bett Countering shedinja: man pokemon can counter it. priority moves that affect it, entry hazards, taunt, weater, and status are the main counters. though this pokemon is devastating if you aren't prepared. Same goes for Abomasnow. ;)
Title: Re: Pokemon Reviews Topic Post by: . on December 06, 2009, 09:59:42 am changed it. i probably should mention how well it works in uber...
Title: Re: Pokemon Reviews Topic Post by: B~T on December 06, 2009, 10:07:11 am A Lum Berry is also a good item choice for Shedinja as it can remove it of Status.
Linking... EDIT: Also, wagner, I edited your Omastar review to make it better and to add a few things. Didn't change the movesets nor the EV Spreads... Title: Re: Pokemon Reviews Topic Post by: . on December 06, 2009, 04:42:11 pm idrc what you do to omastar. i used him and he failed
focus sash is also good, because it it is alive, it can take a super effective hit and survive. i probably should mention how good it is on a uber team. Title: Re: Pokemon Reviews Topic Post by: B~T on December 06, 2009, 05:27:31 pm Above Pokemon is the evolutionary counterpart... O_o
NINJASK!!! Type:BUG/FLYING Ability: Speed Boost - Increases Speed by one stage at the end of each turn. Tier: OU Stats:
Author's Opinion: At first glance, this Pokemon has no business in OU, because of its mediocre Attack stat and awful defenses. However, it has one move and an ability that gives it a good role for OU: Baton Pass. With Swords Dance and Speed Boost, coupled with that enormous Speed stat, Ninjask plays an efficient role in Baton Passing and can screw teams over if teams can't Roar/Whirlwind it away. Do not use Ninjask as a sweeper, since his mediocre attack stat hinders it, and Scizor and others can do a better job at it. Recommended Movesets: Nature: Jolly Item: Leftovers EVs: 176 HP/252 Attack/80 Speed ~ Substitute ~ Swords Dance ~ Baton Pass ~ X-Scissor/Aerial Ace Ninjask is so fast that only 80 EVs are needed to outrun the majority of the metagame. Substitute first, boost behind covers, and Baton Pass to another member. The bottom moves are there for STAB which can OHKO things like Tyranitar and Breloom if you have a Swords Dance up. Countering Ninjask: Ninjask's defenses are so poor that it takes over 90% damage just by touching a pebble. Priority moves can bypass its Speed and hit it hard. Scizor with Bullet Punch and Weavile with Ice Shard are examples, and Weavile can use Fake out to hit hard, and Ice Shard away to rid of it. If Ninjask is not used as a lead, Stealth Rock can leave a dent on it. Should it be used as a lead, Metagross can screw it with Bullet Punch, and Taunt leads bypass a Substitute and prevent it from passing to other teammates or boost from behind. Image coming soon. News and Improvements Section: News section. What more? August 7, 2009. With his suggestion, I will add the Tier section to make things a lot helpful. It will be between the ability and stat sections. I will also link to previous reviews to make things a lot convenient in the section below. They will be listed alphabetically. Title: Re: Pokemon Reviews Topic Post by: . on December 06, 2009, 07:10:53 pm ninjask could be a boosting sweeper, with swords dance and speed boost it could work.
also the move haze eliminates status. you should mention it. Title: Re: Pokemon Reviews Topic Post by: B~T on December 13, 2009, 01:58:04 pm However, he has a glaring 4x weakness to Stealth Rock, and his attack is only mediocre.
TENTACRUEL!!! Type:WATER/POISON Ability: Liquid Ooze - If the opponent uses a HP-Drain move on the Pokemon, the opponent loses HP, such as Leech Seed or Giga Drain. Clear Body - Prevents stat loss, however does not protect from self-inflicted stat loss. Tier: OU Stats:
Author's Opinion: One of OU's most underrated Pokemon. It has a lot of utility moves, and can act as a Special Wall, despite being weak to Thunderbolt and Earth Power. Maybe it can act a little like both! Do not underestimate this Pokemon. Recommended Movesets: Nature: Calm Item: Leftovers EVs: 252 HP/120 Defense/136 Sp Defense ~ Toxic Spikes ~ Rapid Spin ~ Surf/Hydro Pump ~ Sludge Bomb/Hidden Power Electric Tentacruel is one of the few Pokemon that can actually set up Toxic Spikes reliably in OU. Rapid Spin gives you support by getting rid of entry hazards, and Surf, Hydro Pump, and Sludge Bomb act as STAB while Hidden Power Electric acts as a check for Gyarados. Countering Tentacruel: Empoleon, Vaporeon, Swampert, and all other Bulky Waters makes Tentacruel's effort to sweep in vain. However, take caution with Hidden Power Electric if you are Gyarados and Giga Drain with Swampert. Salamence and Dragonite Earthquakes it for the OHKO if Tentacruel does not have Ice Beam. Dugtrio can trap and kill. Basically any Pokemon with good Attack and has Earthquake and is not weak to any of its moves can kill it off with it. Oh, right. It is specially based. That means Blissey and Snorlax can wall it, and so can Latias and Cresselia. Image coming soon. News and Improvements Section: News section. What more? August 7, 2009. With his suggestion, I will add the Tier section to make things a lot helpful. It will be between the ability and stat sections. So Uh? ... WEAVILE!!! Type:DARK/ICE Ability: Pressure - Moves that do damage towards the Pokemon lose 2 PP instead of one. Tier: OU Stats:
Author's Opinion: With Weavile, revenge killing will never be the same. With Pursuit and Ice Shard in hand, both helpful moves to repel Dragon types (*stares at Salamence*) as well as moves that complement a revenge killer, Weavile can get the job done well. Not to mention it's decent attack and blistering speed. On the downside, it doesn't have powerful STAB moves to use. And Choice Scarf users can still outspeed Weavile. Recommended Movesets: Nature: Jolly Item: Choice Band EVs: 4 HP/252 Attack/252 Speed 40 HP/252 Attack/216 Speed ~ Pursuit ~ Ice Shard ~ Brick Break ~ Night Slash/Ice Punch With two useful moves for revenge killing, Pursuit and Ice Shard, Salamence will flee for it's life. And even if it switches out, Stealth Rock foils it. Brick Break can get its way past Steel types who will wall it to no ends. Night Slash and Ice Punch are STAB options if you think the opposing Pokemon will stay in. Nature: Jolly Item: Life Orb EVs: 4 HP/252 Attack/252 Speed 40 HP/252 Attack/216 Speed ~ Swords Dance ~ Ice Shard/Ice Punch ~ Brick Break ~ Night Slash Your generic Swords Dance sweeper. Boost and sweep. Ice Punch for more power, Ice Shard to outrun. Night Slash for additional STAB. Countering Tentacruel: Scizor and Metagross can pick off an opposing Weavile with Bullet Punch, bypassing its high speed. Heracross, Machamp and other Fighting types can take a hit and deal high damage to Weavile with their STAB Fighting attacks. Lucario can do it too, but must be wary of Brick Break. Mach Punch ruins it as well. Gyarados can use Intimidate and OHKO with Stone Edge. Also beware of Choice Scarf Pokemon, as they can outrun you and deal a good amount of damage due to Weavile's poor defenses. Image coming soon. News and Improvements Section: News section. What more?
