Title: Halo Short Stories Post by: LordVaderRulez on November 05, 2009, 10:20:58 pm This is a little Halo fan fiction I'm doing. Basically it consists of several blog updates by reporters detailing events in the Halo storyline. Enjoy.
Entry One: LSNBC special report:UNSC Outer Colony World "Charybdis IX" August 25th 2534 After several months I managed to get permission from the Office of Naval Intelligence to do a report in the corporate owned mining colony located in the Charybdis system. I began my report by meeting up with two ONI agents. They informed me of the massive Insurrectionist rioting that took place in the capital and the fact that Martial Law had been ordered last year. Surprisingly as I departed in a civilian warthog from a spaceport in the outskirts of Scyllion I noticed a very low military presence. I was later informed this was a result of UNSC military forces being stationed in other worlds where the Covenant had a large presence. An hour later I arrived in the capital city of Scyllion. As the skyscrapers shined in the center of the city I looked toward a group of concrete building with locked metal doors. These buildings like the rest in the city were corporate owned. Out here the mining companies owned everything. Workers lived in company owned houses, payed rent to them, bought food and supplies from them, but eventually it cost more to live here then the pay provided. This lead to massive riots and protests which was quite obvious here as across the building a group of protestors were gathered around a burning trash can holding various signs that read many messages such as "UNSC=Liars" and "Down with Capitalism!". As I drove by I felt a piece of trash hit the back of my car as a person called out "You look like a UNSC fascist in that car!' Ignoring the mishap I continued along the street towards the downtown area. Some 15 minutes later I arrived at the downtown section. Before I could get to the headquarters of a large local mining company I was stopped by what appeared to be a large group of rioters. This group was made up of workers, rebel, and refugees. After several seconds I begun to regret the fact I was using a civilian warthog. I ducked my head as bottles, wood, basically anything that could be found was thrown towards my car. I quickly drove off towards a different part of the city. I made sure to also avoid the warehouse district as that was also a commonplace of rioting. As I departed back to Reach the next day, I had a new gratitude of living in an Inner Colony world rather then a war-torn place like this. |
