Title: LEGO Kid's Inner Circle allowed to Alpha Test!
Post by: Kritzelei on December 09, 2009, 12:37:47 pm
Source: jamesster, LUO
The Beta Test is now open to members of the LEGO Kid's Inner Circle. Unfortunately, as lindavz rightly pointed out (thanks for that ;)), I'm not really allowed to copy and paste articles from the website, as they like to keep it to just members. Sorry to anyone who is not yet a member.
Sign up now if you haven't already signed up at the LEGO Kid's Inner Circle! May only be open for 7-13 year olds though... :-\
TBD

Please note that I would advise not copying anything from the KIC website.  The rules explicitly say that.

Apparently it is, according to jamesster, but you may be able to get in.

You're an Alpha tester too, 8?

We can't discuss things here... but In game? With the chat option, if we ever meet wwe might be able to talk.

...You sure it's only for people that are 7-13?

I was able to join using my Rahkshi8000 LEGO.com account, and I have the age set to 14 years...
ditto, I wonder eh, I've never heard of Lego limiting age for entrance

Post by: lindavz on December 09, 2009, 01:01:53 pm
Yes the KIC has age rules.  You can *JOIN* the KIC, but only those 7 - 13 were sent the alpha email.  The term for KIC is a calendar year, and thus everyone 're-applies' every year.

Also as for the tell everyone part...here is my interpretation.  They are asking for comments on LU to be posted on the KIC Blog - as they preface it by saying... to get things started on the KIC blog tell everyone [on the kic blog] your experiences.

I think this topic merits a news topic. Moving...

And yes, us KIC are lucky.

I posted about the KIC on that other forum I am on, back in August.  For those that are not members there, here is one of my recent posts on that topic:

For those that missed it - here was the link to the Kids Inner Circle. Those that enrolled are now Beta Testing LU! Congrats to them.

My two cents? Expect some stuff to happen somehow on the LMBs in... *Checks watch* Next time they mod the forum. =P I mean, most the people may know not to, but everything gets info leaked somehow. Everything. Look at HGSS...

A 14 year old on BZP said he was invited to beta test, so never mind about the age limit...

They probably figure they've got that one set by having the employee's families. >_>

Title: Re: LEGO Kid's Inner Circle allowed to Beta Test!
Post by: lindavz on December 09, 2009, 02:21:56 pm
Depends on 'when' they turned 14.

Also 'sworn' to secrecy depends on the contract between the 2 parties.  As it relates to not posting anything from their website to anywhere else - it's quite clear about that. See post below.  As it relates to interpretation releasing feedback on alpha testing, it's quite expected in 'traditional' testing to not disclose and if so, the account can be revoked.  Can LEGO track down people in hallways or in school talking, I don't think that is easy to do.  Can LEGO track down screenshots and copy / paste from their websites to outside blogs, forums and websites, yeppers.

They will likely do that after the Inner Circle has had a week or month with it, to get a genuine test. I think they are just promoting KIC at this point.

And Employee families are sure to say good things, probably being told to by the employee...

Thanks, Lindavz!

I will have to check it out...

EDIT: It says that I have to register for it, yet I already have a LEGO.com account. How do you get in, then?

Typically you can log off and then back in - and then it provides a questionnaire.  My son did not need to make a separate account.

Is there anyway to get the email+code?

nope, I'm still not allowed in. If only I could figure out the "adult" (weird thinking that I, at 14, will need to try the adult method =P) method....

Well, I hope that it won't be too much when it comes out! I have looked forward to this for ages now... :)

I have the LU alpha test and the LEGO team clearly thank the players for reporting this bug (something about moving images, I think).

Anyway guys, don't feel too bad. Some non-spoiling info but still worthy of note is that the game is only online during Tuesdays and Thursdays [2/7 days a week] and there's a play time which you must catch [it's not short at all though].

Oh and the alpha will be closing on December 19th, then reopen January 5th.

I just came back from alpha testing LEGO Universe.

So as to keep in the mind the declaration of secrecy, I'll just say... it was worth the wait, even in alpha test stages.

I too don't really get why they want the age limit to be 7-12. I'd say just rename it "LEGO Builders Inner Circle" and set it for anyone over 7.

Of course they wouldn't.

I can always give you screenies of the alpha test but I'd be violating the declaration of secrecy and you'd probably start hating me. So just be patient.

It's a good game, but it isn't THAT amazing and fun as has been suggested.

Sorry I haven't been on in a while.
But yeah. THE GAME IS GREAT! I've been taking screens and video, BUT NOT TO SHARE ONLINE UNTIL LATE 2010 - it's just to preserve things in the Alpha Test - For instance, let's say they redo the 3D models for the darklings and in the final version they look differant from the darklings in the Alpha Test (Things like that do happen). I know some people would want to know what they used to look like in the Alpha Test come 2010. So if some major change is made, I want it perserved. But if nothing drastically changes, then the screens and video will never be released in 2010. Ok? Or does that violate the decloration? I just wanted to see what you guys think.

Title: Re: LEGO Kid's Inner Circle allowed to Alpha Test!
Post by: lindavz on December 11, 2009, 10:38:44 am
@ jamesster That is probably a quest that should be posted on KIC.  Some tests allow you to do that, others do not.  There are some issues also on whether someone under 18 can give 'consent' anyhow, but that is another matter.  Essentially you are assisting them to ensure the game works etc.  And they are giving you access in return.  If it was leaked, then it could result in your account losing access.  Double check with KIC as they are the authority on really what is allowed or not.

Title: Re: LEGO Kid's Inner Circle allowed to Alpha Test!
Post by: jamesster on December 11, 2009, 11:06:10 am
As said before, I would only release the Alpha Test screens a good 2 months AFTER the full version is released, and only if there was a large change made. Anyways, I'll ask LUM about it.

Well, I don't know where PODS 4 through 7 are going.  My guess would be Windsor and Germany and California.  No idea on POD 5 though.

it is for 'Early Testing' which I believe is Alpha, however, I will double check.

Regarding KIC down: passed it on to the KIC team and got this response:

"Hi Linda
Have passed this on, but I think it's been fixed now. Let us know if you're still having problems.
Kind regards"

however when testing a few minutes ago was still down and resent response and got:

"Hi Linda
Will follow up on this again.
Thanks for the heads up"

subsequent updates will be sent to those PM'ing me that want an update about this.

To lindavz

I've sent a bug to the sametrix community.(sametrix = site producer) That's the reason it's down.

This is the message in return

Hi Sim,

Thank You for your concern in notifying us about this issue.
Currently the Lego Kids server is down due to some technical issues. We will let you know once the issue is resolved.
We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your time.

Yes, da bug...

It's a bug that let's you log in on every account on LKIC without a password of that user. With this bug you could post a comment, and look into the answers of the poll that the user has been filled in, even you could view his emailadress. I found it actually, it simply to find, or discover... But i'm not using it, it's kind of stupid to post comments with somebody others name...

Oh, and that's all i say...

Interesting... as this is what I got a few minutes ago.

Hi Linda
According the email we have received:

The site is not down. We have locked out users who do not have a parent registration.

I should check with my son's account...

Title: Re: LEGO Kid's Inner Circle allowed to Alpha Test!

@Master X - My assumption was they meant parent registration with the signed in lego account.  If you look at the top of the URL, the legokidsinnercircle redirects to an address with the userid in it.  I was logged into my account.  I'll have to wait until spykid gets home to see whether he gets it also.

LUM CONFIRMED age has NOTHING to do with not getting in invitation... So I wonder why Herochild didn't get one the first time?
And also, I found a way to get to 2 unfinished areas in LU yesterday via invisible launch pad in the Gnarled Forest, but fell off the edge of the map in one of the areas, so my minifigure - and all his items and achievements - are now stuck falling forever in an endless white void. No way to get out. So I have made a new minifig, named JamessterBot....

Jamester, per the LU Beta 'secrecy pact', you are supposed to leave your feedback secret.  If you think this is a bug, please log as such and email the appropriate people on LU.

Keep in mind that I didn't reveal ANY info that already wasn't made public by previews on gaming websites (or the LU website itself). And don't worry, I reported it. And if YOU lost all your items, achievements, and everything else you had done on LU, you would wanna rant a bit too... I guess I can edit my post, but I don't see why I would have to...

Today is the last day of testing before the Xmas break and will resume sometime in January.

Didn't todays testing already finish?

Nope - it goes on until 3pm EST I think.

I just heard this from Legouniversemaster:
Quote
herochild- When we send out the next round of LEGO Universe Alpha testing invites, we will send one to you at the parent email address we currently have on file for you. Apologies for the delay-- your case was a really tough one! And I can't thank you enough for being so patient.

Where did you hear that from?  What's his email address?
This comment was posted on the blog of the LKIC. The LEGOUniversemaster is active there. Emailaddress unknow...

Email Address Shown for KIC on the right hand side at the Help Button. Not sure if that is the same for Lego Universe Master

I didn't even play LU the last three available days. I felt like Burnout Paradise and some other sites instead.

I just hope they improve the graphics... they look like they're from a 2003 or 2004 game.

New KIC members may be getting them - so don't give up yet. Try emailing them like herochild.

POD 4 is in Germany...if you happen to be going there.

Go to a LEGO store and try to convince a LEGO employee to invite you.

I have also asked for them - for those on my staff that expressed interest and awaiting that news, so far it looks promising but not confirmed.
