GREAT topic, Rakoua! I have watched this show since OS!

My parents are nuts about Star Trek!  I've already watched the original episodes(ALL) and we just finished Best of Both Worlds, Part ll with Netflix!  I love Star Trek!

I plan on updating the first post with links such as episode reviews, and actually getting the admins to make a forum for Star Trek if this gets popular.

Now, we have Star Trek every weekday at 4 PM or so, and then again the same episode after midnight, so I often have to record episodes due to school and or sleep.

For the next 6 hours there ts a TNG marathon on the SYFY channel...

I want to watch it, but I don't havethat channel...
I wish to buy some TOS episodes one day, when I find them in Croatia...


Star Wars is... alright, there are a few problems...
Too many battles really, and as far as battles go, I prefer Operation Return over the battle to destroy the Death Star...

we were trying to get my dad the complete series of DS9 for christmas... couldn't find it in time. :-/ pity too, because its a present as much for me as dad. :P

we already have all the ST movies ever released, and the entire series of TNG. i have the new ST movie on my computer, and i'm TRYING to get it to go on my iPod......

i occasionally try to watch an episode of TOS on youtube, but i never have the time... so i'm halfway through the episode where they first meet kahn (and no, i'm not going in order)

That's interesting... I found some Voyager seasons in Graz, but you know how that is, everything's probably in German.

Mine is The Next Generation. Voyager has good episodes, but they ruined the Borg.

why, by making them saveable/not indestructible?

The Borg we met in Q Who were a mysterious, powerfull race. In Voyager they're a virus.

Dark Frontier really ruined the Borg as a species, as the Delta Flyer managed to enter the Unicomplex and exit almost undamaged.

Cool!  I've only watched, like the first 4 Borg episodes on TNG.

Just watched VOY: Blink of an Eye.

Quite an awesome episode I must say, tho a bit of mystery could have been included (I mean, the start could have been with the natives seeing the Sky Ship for the first time, and the fact that the Sky Ship was Voyager could have been kept secret untill the civilization advanced enough to actually see it trough a telescope) but I guess that would exclude the actual cast untill The Doctor beams down...

It would have been more interesting tho. I did like the episode, yes, but still...

The Sci Fi channel has another marathon coming up.. and it will include all the series. I am hoping it is a rainy day so I have a legitimate excuse not to do yardwork, and can stay in all day and watch.

I just found out that SyFy has had a TNG marathon ALL DAY!!  Any how, it continues, so take advantage..watch or tivo.

I came across all DS9 episodes, the new movie in HD (8 gigs of pure epicness [Also Avatar in HD whichi is 12 gigs]) and maybe other ST stuff and lots of HD stuff.

Personally, I like Enterprise a lot . Much more realistic.

I don't have anything against Enterprise but a lot of the episodes are just plain bad...

Enterprise got cancelled just as it hit its stride.  It's rather saddening. :-/

That is true, the founding of the federation would be a very interesting period to explore, and so would the Earth-Romulan war.

i would love to see a series halfway in between ENT and TOS

I really liked the cast and plot lines of DS9.

As do I. We have the first three seasons of ds9, we're halfway through season 2. Good stuff. I like it better than TNG.

DS9 is my favorite series, apart from season 1.

I've only seen Season 1 episodes of DS9, maybe that's why I've never been able to stand it. :hmm:

My favorites remain TNG and Voyager, though TNG I prefer post Season 1 and Voyager I prefer around the middle (the beginning was a bit slow and a bit TOO sparse (you know, CONSTANTLY struggling for supplies and the like), and the episodes near the end don't seem to resonate as much as the mid-series eps.  Though the finale was AWESOME. ^_^

You should watch the DS9 finale, it was better IMHO. But it does have 9 parts =P

Anyone who has Amazon Prime.. they have most episodes on streaming vid.

Hmm... I'm not sure. That's a good question. *Looks it up* Amazon Instant Video, which is granted by amazon prime, is indeed US only. =/

Anyway, I've only really seen a handful of the movies, and that was about 2 years ago.(Yet another good thing about 2010. =P)

If you want a good Star Trek movie, you should watch ST: First Contact. IMHO that's the best one.

And I hate how a lot of things are US only... but I did find a place from where I can stream Star Trek.

Hmm... I'm not entirely certain if I've watched that one or not. Is that the one where they go back to Earth before First Contact right at the beginning, and is the one the Borg appear in? It's been so long I forget if that's the one I watched or not. xD

That's the one. I think it's pretty epic and has good acting. Frakes did a pretty good job directing it.

Also, you can bypass the region filter, but it really is annoying.

Also, I just watched the Augment arc of Enterprise, I think it's one of the best arcs in the series.

Brent Spiner (the guy who originally played Data in TNG) did a pretty good job depicting the leader of the bad guys.

Brent is a brilliant actor IMHO. It's probably very hard to play an android like Data. And he does a pretty good job playing members of the Soong family (Other then Khan, of course =P )

Wow. =O I hadn't really know that he had such a reach in Star Trek... Goes to show my knowledge of the series. =P

Most of the TNG cast have quite a reach in the later spinoffs. Some directed episodes (like LeVar Burton (Geordi LaForge) directed one of the last episodes of Enterprise), some kept their character (Michael Dorn as Worf in DS9, or O'Brien who is acted by I Don't Remember) and some just appear (Like Patrick Stewart in the first episode of DS9)

Nitpick: Data was built by Dr. Soong.  Khan's full name is Khan Noonien Singh. So no relation at all.  ;)

Khan, of course, was played by the great Ricardo Montalbain (I'm sure I misspelled that name :blush: ), and is well-known for single-handedly saving the Star Trek franchise from oblivion after the awful film Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Yeah, TMP, while a great classic, is pretty lame :P

And of the TOS movies, I think The Voyage home is the best, but Wrath of Khan was pretty good too.

I also liked The Undiscovered Country (the one with the Klingon conspiracy).  Basically, stick to even-numbered Original Series movies and you'll be OK. :P

Agreed.

I liked Insurrection, but First Contact was still better. Nemesis and Generations weren't that good.

As far as TNG movies go, first contact can't be beat. Of the remaining ones, I like Nemesis much more than insurrection or generations.

I liked the concept of Nemesis, but something was...off...about it.  I blame the cinematography (the camera angles just felt weird) and the battle coreography was strange as well.  The 2009 movie pulled off that style rather well, but for some reason I didn't like it in Nemesis.

I'm kind of sad that we never really got to see the possibilities of a Romulan-Federation alliance, that would have been interesting.  Though I also love the Star Trek Online storylines; if ever they decide to make a movieabout STO, sign me up. :P

Something was strange about Nemesis to me too, but I can't quite place my finger on it... It is possible that it was the angles, but I'm not sure. I guess it's just a matter of personal taste.
Also, we did get to see the possibility of the Federation-Romulan alliance, during the Dominion war, to some degree.

Tried to look for the Star Trek movies yesterday; they had all of them up to Generations... Except for the first. =P

The first isn't any good IMHO. For the TOS movies, stick to the even number ones.

The plot can be a bit dry at times, but it looks epic. I do hate the weapons of the Enterprise and how the warp drive looks like a conventional means of propulsion. I do hope the sequel lives up to its standard though, since it might, with sufficient success, even bring a new ST series.

personally, I like the enterprise E bridge more in every way, except for the ridiculous leather seats.

Sovereign class is epic, but the Galaxy class had a lot of style too.

It's not a warship...  It's a ship of exploration! It's unfortunate that we didn't get to see the E in exploring.
But true, leather is a bit too much.

Well, the Enterprise E was, IIRC, commissioned for the Borg War, so...

It was built during the Dominion war, but didn't participate in in it, and if it was built for the Borg war, why would Starfleet Command send to the Neutral zone on the day of the invasion?

DS9 was my favorite franchise.

It is very fun, yes.

TNG is neat and all, but its just... it has such a bright, over-peaceful, laid back feel to it, it almost has a pleasantville feel to it sometimes, if that makes any sense.

It fades as time goes on. :P

If you're looking for a "grittier" Star Trek, Voyager certainly has its moments.  I can't really speak for DS9, having watched very little of it. :P

DS9 is great. There's almost equal parts federation, cardassian, bajoran, and ferengi

There's a wide variety in the stories as well...

They have so much more storyline inter-connection as well. With TNG it was rare to see something in more than one episode, unless it was a major plot element/main character/important species, in which case you saw a disproportionate amount of it.

While this is still present in DS9, its to a much lesser degree, which really adds to the realism.

Still bummed that bashir's girlfriend didn't stick around though....

The best VOY episodes are  Dark Frontier and Year of Hell. Both are pretty dark.

DS9 has so many good episodes though. I really like how they developed the characters too.

DS9  had excellent actors as well as writers.
