Title: Set #8976-1: Metus, Set #8975-1: Berix, Set #8987-1: Kiina Post by: Ddude The Insane on October 16, 2009, 08:43:32 pm Today is a momentous occasion. For I am doing a Bionicle
BIONICLE TRIPLE FEATURE REVIEW!! Let's start with a... Metus Review! Metus Review The Build *grunt* Standard Avtoran/Agori build. Nothing to see here but a few recolors, new helmet (duh) and the introduction of the Iconox shield. He even uses Solek's sword...interesting, since they're both Ice-themed. 3/5 Playability Again, not much of a breakout from the standard AvGori build. His legs kind of restrict his movements and poseability. Nice shield, although perhaps a bit big on him. Sword is a bit lame, same as the Zesk/Vorox stinger tail and Solek swords. 3.2/5 Price $6 after a price cut occured. A little iffy, but still not bad. Lower it to $5 and it'd be nice. $4 would even be cool. 3.5/5 Overall Meh. Not the greates Agori IMO. Berix is definately better, and Raanu, Zesk and Tarduk all look like they could be better. 3.2/5 Now it's time for... Berix! Berix Review The Build Well, it's not like you expect a lot from an AvGori build. But as far as AvGori go, he ain't that bad. Nice colors, parts, pretty good helmet (although it was recycled by Ackar -_-); nice all around set. I mat be mistaken, but his sword is a recolor of Tahu Mata's sword. In fact, most of his pieces are recolors. 3.8/5 Playability WOW. This exceeded expectations. Good shield, but not a lot of defensive coverage. Sword is good, tube is a bit...questionable. Overlookable though. Nice poseability, he can strike a good battle pose too. Almost everything about him works out. It would be nie if his sword was a bit longer, but that's about the only problem. 4.2/5 Price Same as Metus. Price cut improves the set, but a few dollars lower would be nice. You're getting more for your money than Metus though. 3.8/5 Overall EXCELLENT AvGori set. Good value for money, nice pieces, etc. 3.9/5 And last but not least.... Kiina! Kiina Review!! The Build Good build. Nice change from the standard Inika clone. Good pieces, some new stuff. I mean, not that wonderful, but still a nice change of pace. A few more pieces would be appreciated. 8.2/10 Playability NIIIIIIIICE. Good spear, OK armor, nice helmet, everything works out except the arm and leg armor. It prevents some movements...but nothing horrible. Good coloration as well. It's easy to pose; The movie role kinda seals the deal. This is a GREAT set you can play with. 9.2/10 Price It used to be $13. Thankfully, it was lowered to $10. PERFECT price right there. $10 works out well. 10/10 Overall Kiina has been, in my opinion, the breakout set of 2009. It's a good set to play with, probably the best Glatorian of the year. Perhaps a bit of a lightweight, maybe a bit more bulk would be nice. But other than that, it would be probably one of the best sets in the past few years. 9.1/10 Whew. I'm tired. No more reviews for a while from me. :P |
