My LEGO Nexus Organization

I was discussing the idea with Blade, and he said he liked the idea. So we're wondering; would you be interested in a News Team at MLNO?

The News Team would be on the look out for news on places like the LEGO Shop, LEGO Universe, perhaps even other fan sites like BZPower or The Brothers Brick. They would be able to post news in the LEGO News forum and could give rep to those members who find news which the team haven't spotted (the team would have to report all rep givings to GMods or Admins, to keep a track of rep). I'd say each News Team member would be given 1 rep for being part of the team, and perhaps rep for the news they post. There would be a limit of say 5 members to the team, so it doesn't get too big.

So... what do you think? If you want to make your views anonymous, just vote in the poll, well, vote anyway whether you want them private or not. :)

Just another note; if this idea happens, the reporters will have to have a certain 'position', like the shop owners. Please do not abuse that position. ;)

Ah, another point I missed out. ;) Thanks again Blade. :) And please don't report on tiny new things, for example, a new post on the Space Police blog storyline... thing. That's a weekly blog, so it's bound to have something new. ;)

Well, I'm not sure on that one; after all, look at all the Mata Nui Saga stuff on BZP. =P

But if need be, that could go in a topic in the space forum. ;)

I hope so too, I think it will make quite a good addition to the forum. :) Just as long as most of the votes/comments are Yes or  No Opinion, I think it will go ahead. :)

I'd disagree with them giving rep. Giving rep is a G-Mod and higher ability- Mods can't give rep, so why can reporters?

I think that was put in there before we started talking; we decided they'd just pass it onto us. Makes for a record that way too. =)

I see what you mean. Perhaps they could notify a GMod or admin to give a member rep?
EDIT: Oh yeah, that was what we said. Blade's better at this than I am. ;)

Or they could have access to the lower staff board/general staff board and suggest them for rep in the rep suggestions topic put up two days ago.

KZ: Or they could just PM a GM/Admin. But there may be a board for the reporters if this goes through; makes for easier recording and such. =P

May be lower. The admins don't need that much people-more like 7 or so.

I've approved that one; just so that we can have a relatively good percentage of the members voting. The only reason it's lower in the Staff board is because we have less staff. =P

I voted yes, cause the news system isn't quite organized, IMO.

I vote yes with conditions:

1. Spelling and grammar must be correct.

2. No access to staff board or GM abilities.

3. Any reporter may be replaced if they are not properly doing their job, or if they abuse the tools.

4. No power struggles allowed.

5. Minimum and maximum story lengths should be set.

6. If a story is copied from a source, the reporter must add either a synopsis, or their opinion as to a. whet this will mean to fans b.why this is relevant to us.  They may add all three as well.

I agree with you MsRR, they seem fair just about.

It seems as though we'll be making this happen! ;D I'm glad everyone likes the idea. :)

Now those I disagree with. 'Specially the first. We're not all people with the highest mark possible in the area of spelling. I don't care if spelling is correct or not, as long as I can tell what they mean. Same with grammar.

And I thought reporters would be staff... and in that case they're just members posting stuff in the news forums. Unless you want a  lower staff/reporter board and a higher staff board.

As KZ said, not everyone can spell every word perfectly in English; I don't know if that would be good or not.

GM abilities: No. Mod abilities: Yes; so they can post the stuff in the first place. Access: Why? Though there will be an even lower board for them.

Seems fair to me.

1) As KZ and Blade say, not everyone's perfect with language.

2) There would be a Reporter's Area within the staff board, but with no access to higher levels. Members who need rep awarding would be posted in a topic here.
