Title: The Water Tower Post by: Legodac on May 01, 2010, 07:57:09 pm I asked the girls which one was their fave, they chose this. The choices I gave were the pony truss and the train shed, and of course this. Since I designed and built them, I would have chosen the pony truss, difficult to create in LDD and hard to build as well, but in my opinion, my finest hours...the build was a real challenge.
The same kind of applied to the water tower, because I confused LDD so much that building it from the design was impossible, I had to reduce the circumferance. When I recieved the bricks and started to build I soon found out that LDD was wrong and I kept on building. My Water Tower is a creation I am truly proud of, I made square bricks look round, although I wish a beige outside, this is my entry... Thanks for the glowing remarks, all of you, you made my day. @ Lionytai, I kind of gave myself a pat on the back when I did this in LDD. I really wanted a water tower on my train set, but the problem was how to take a square Lego brick, and make the finished product look round. I came up with the idea to use those hingable light grey bricks to complete a circle, and then went from there. I said in an earlier post LDD got it wrong, they put more hinge points in, that actually existed in the real brick. The Ldd model complete, I ordered 2, then when I sat down to build I discovered the anomoly. So I had to reduce the overall circumferance, changing the roof, changing the water container size and even reducing the legs from 5 to 4. So take a good look on my page, at the original LDD design, you'll see what I'm talking about when you compare the LDD photoshot to the pics I've posted here... Here's the link to my page, I'll keep it there till June.... http://mln.lego.com/en-us/PublicView/legodac.aspx Title: Re: The Water Tower Post by: Shadowking2000 on April 10, 2011, 06:20:24 pm This is truly the one of the greatest masterpieces I've ever seen.

Title: Re: The Water Tower Post by: Intrepid on May 16, 2011, 01:59:23 am Wow. Simply wow. Amazing detail right down to the water level indicator. I used to think I had a few brick skills, but now I think I just enrolled in school with the masters. Thanks for posting this.
I've got a lot of catching up to do on these boards. |
