Title: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on May 12, 2011, 01:17:23 pm In this topic, you can discuss the brand new Nintendo 3DS; the revolutionary 3d Handheld console, where you can view 3D gaming... Without wearing glasses.
Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: The Truth on May 13, 2011, 06:42:54 pm I am addicted to the AR Games. :P
Cheats for AR Free Fishing: Place the card on a blue surface to catch sardines, place it on green for a swarm of Koopa Shells, on red for a swarm of Cheep Cheeps, and on yellow to catch Mr. AR, the AR mascot! Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Wantija$$$ on May 13, 2011, 08:13:58 pm It's a good system, although (right now) it suffers form a not-so-good launch line up. Oh, and the 3D effect hurts my eyes :(
Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on May 14, 2011, 09:31:13 am It sounds pretty cool, but it's a little too expensive for me right now; though... I am saving up for it! =D Partly because of Legends 3, but still. =P
The launch lineup problems happen to most, if not all systems, so I wouldn't worry. =P Did expect a few more games at launch, however. But OOT 3D! That'll be pretty cool hopefully. Plus Master Quest'll be included, so I'm definitely gonna pick it up when I get a 3DS. Oh, and the Slide Pad works on DS games apparently. Can anyone let out a collective sigh of relief, as all the old N64 games that didn't wait for the 3DS to port can now be played as they were meant to be played? =P(SM64DS is a big one for that. Though... I'm wondering if it'll require Y still to run... Hope not. =/) Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on June 29, 2011, 02:10:36 pm Bumping, since it's been nearly two months. =P
That, and because I got the 3DS yesterday. I'm with Truth. =P Though, Face Raiders has been eating through my play time as well; that is one awesome game. And I hope they release a sequel... That's longer. But oh was that final stage boss a pain. ;_; Aaaand I can also comment on my question above(=P). SM64DS... does require Y still. Not a big deal; but it is annoying when you're idling and then suddenly take off when you nudge the Circle Pad to move forward a little bit. =P(... Aka; I failed at Rainbow Ride before; and I still fail at it now. xD) Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Canama on July 03, 2011, 12:16:32 pm Also, it just acts like the D-Pad in that you can only move in the same eight directions. Sorry.
-Canama Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 03, 2011, 12:38:18 pm Well, even in new games, wouldn't it simply move in 8 directions? =P Unless you mean you can nudge it to move forward like typical analog sticks in new games, then that makes sense.
But yeah; I should know. Works wonders even still for the DS games though... Especially any ports. =P ... Not so much on side scrollers, though... Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Canama on July 03, 2011, 01:59:56 pm Well, even in new games, wouldn't it simply move in 8 directions? =P Unless you mean you can nudge it to move forward like typical analog sticks in new games, then that makes sense. No, it can move in more than 8 directions in the new games that are designed to be sensitive to it. In DS games the directions you can move in are spaced apart by increments of 45 degrees. With 3DS games using the circle pad, it's possible to detect more angles than those 8.But yeah; I should know. Works wonders even still for the DS games though... Especially any ports. =P ... Not so much on side scrollers, though... -Canama Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 03, 2011, 02:04:37 pm Ah... That makes sense. It explains why the games' controls aren't as accurate(Since they keep every aspect of the old system) as I had initially expected them to be.
I'd hate to be a sprite game developer now, though. =P Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Canama on July 03, 2011, 02:24:23 pm Ah... That makes sense. It explains why the games' controls aren't as accurate(Since they keep every aspect of the old system) as I had initially expected them to be. There are still viable markets.I'd hate to be a sprite game developer now, though. =P Though Nintendo has moved on, the DS isn't dead. -Canama Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 03, 2011, 02:39:59 pm Oh yeah, I realize that. There's still games coming out for both DSiWare and the actual DS.
Of course, if you want to make use of all the upgrades the 3DS brought, you'd have to develop on that(Like if you want to make use of it's more internal features that aren't graphics related, like the processor); but otherwise, you could make games for the DS, or even DSiWare. But my point was for the 3DS devs; now they'd have to either have 3D models, or figure out a way to have sprites be flexible, yet fit in with more points of movement. =P Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Canama on July 28, 2011, 01:53:46 pm On August 12, the price of the 3DS will be reduced all the way to $169.99.
Anyone who purchased the $250 3DS need not fret, though. We get TWENTY. FREE. DOWNLOADABLE. GAMES. As stated by Nintendo: Quote Starting Sept. 1, Nintendo 3DS Ambassadors will be able to download 10 NES™ Virtual Console™ games at no charge and before they are available in the Nintendo eShop to the general public. These games, including Super Mario Bros.™, Donkey Kong Jr.™, Balloon Fight™, Ice Climber™ and The Legend of Zelda™, are slated to become paid downloadable games, but Ambassadors get them early for free. Once the paid versions of the games are posted to the Nintendo eShop later in the year, the updated versions will be available to Ambassadors for download at no cost. By the end of 2011, Nintendo will provide Ambassadors with 10 Game Boy Advance Virtual Console games. These include games like Yoshi's Island™: Super Mario™ Advance 3, Mario Kart™: Super Circuit, Metroid™ Fusion, WarioWare™, Inc.: Mega Microgame$ and Mario vs. Donkey Kong™. These games will be available exclusively to Ambassadors, and Nintendo currently has no plans to make these 10 games available to the general public on the Nintendo 3DS in the future. I'm pretty excited. Source. Some people are like "CURSE YOU NINTENDO YOU TOOK MY 80 DOLLARS AND ONLY GAVE ME THESE 20 REHASHED GAMES," but I personally am pretty psyched. 169 is the perfect price for the 3DS in my opinion, and if this is what it takes to kickstart the system, so be it.

Since that's about $130 of games I think we get the better deal.-Canama Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 31, 2011, 11:31:30 am We definitely get the better deal.
The 10 NES games are roughly 5 to 6 dollars(Going off the VCs); and the GBA would be even more, either 8 dollars(Going off the SNES VC), or 10 dollars(Since theoretically, the GBC would have the cheaper price range)... And even so, the games that are available... Are amazing. Metroid Fusion? MK Super Circuit? WarioWare? Yoshi's Island? And of course the NES games are pretty much the all stars of the console(</hoping for Metroid NES, though Fusion likely has it built in still, if I remember the games correctly>)... So nothing is truly wasted, since you get so many games.(I bet my connection will be tested that day. =P) I, for one, am highly anticipating the release of all these VC games. =)</hopes for a Megaman game in those NES ones as well> The question is... These NES games... Are they 3D classics? Or just normal VC? Logic suggests they'd be 3D classics, but... Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Canama on August 01, 2011, 02:11:33 pm We definitely get the better deal. Fusion didn't have the original Metroid built in. Prime did, though, and it was unlockable only by connecting the GC with Prime to a GBA with Fusion. That's what you're thinking of (Either that or Zero Mission, which did have Metroid built-in).The 10 NES games are roughly 5 to 6 dollars(Going off the VCs); and the GBA would be even more, either 8 dollars(Going off the SNES VC), or 10 dollars(Since theoretically, the GBC would have the cheaper price range)... I doubt that Megaman will be available, as the five revealed titles so far have been first-party and the other half almost certainly will be as well. The NES games will not be 3D classics, but will have other enhancements. (http://ds.ign.com/articles/118/1184729p1.html) Also, two more GBA games have reportedly been revealed! Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 and Kirby & the Amazing Mirror (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/27322?)! -Canama Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 01, 2011, 03:25:40 pm 1. Ah; okay, that's what I was thinking of. I had pretty much skipped the Gamecube, and given that I got my GBA like 2 years before the DS, I mostly skipped that generation of gaming. ^^;
2. Yeah; I had that feeling myself; but it's always nice to hope. =/ But, given Megaman's treatment in general recently, I doubt any games would be on there regardless... 3. Interesting... Well; only a little more 'til we find out... Hopefully. They never did say when those upgraded versions would be available... 4. Apparently those are just rumours; but if Super Mario Advance 4 is correct... WOOT! I was hoping that Super Mario 3 would get represented somehow. =D Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Jade on August 01, 2011, 05:19:30 pm :DDDDDDDDDD
Animal Crossing is coming to the 3DS!!! :DDDDDDDDDDDDD Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Ddude The Insane on August 01, 2011, 05:29:28 pm :DDDDDDDDDD We've known this since the system was unveiled. =PAnimal Crossing is coming to the 3DS!!! :DDDDDDDDDDDDD Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 01, 2011, 05:31:20 pm Ddude: We have? I thought it was only revealed for sure at this E3...
But yeah; this looks awesome too, adds a ton more features. And in one screen shot(Not sure if it's Wii or 3DS, but it looked like the 3DS), I saw the Master Sword and the outfit you can get on City Folk(With Link's hat and so), so I'm definitely anticipating it. =) Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Jade on August 01, 2011, 05:36:07 pm Ok, some of us knew :P I had no idea until I went on Amazon to see when the new Professor Layton game was coming out.
Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 01, 2011, 05:57:28 pm Which new game? The Layton vs. Ace Attorney game, or another I don't know of yet?
But yeah; the date's not known yet, but an AC game is coming. And with the new price drop... Oh! And Mario Kart 7 is coming out for the 3DS as well, sometime near the end of the year. Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Wantija$$$ on August 01, 2011, 06:01:10 pm I'm supprised that you guys haven't mentioned any thing about KI:U or SF643D, they look awesome!
And Blade, what's your reaction to Legends 3 being canceled? Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 01, 2011, 06:09:32 pm 1. Hasn't popped up. =P And I'd be more excited about SF643D... If Nintendo had been smart enough to add in Wi-Fi support... =/ Kid Icarus looks amazing, however! I hope they get the online Multiplayer added in, though... But even if not, I'd happily get it just for Single Player. =P
2. To summarize: http://www.mlno.org/index.php/topic,7130.0.html http://www.mlno.org/index.php/topic,4388.msg279498.html#msg279498 (From this post onwards) In further explanation: "NO THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING! I'VE GOT NO REASON TO GO ON! WHAT, WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOR!?!?!?!?!" Detailed explanation: I am heavily disappointed in Capcom... And that's holding back. =P First topic shows just how angry I was on the first day of announcement. Capcom pulled their biggest fail of their year of fail; and they just don't get it. They don't understand that they just betrayed their fanbase by cancelling not one, but both of the new Megaman games this year. This is not being stood for by the fan base; and while Capcom is trying to simply brush it off; I highly doubt any of the fanbase will just give up. Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Ddude The Insane on August 02, 2011, 05:22:04 pm @Blade: We got pictures of it at E3 2010, then it was quiet for a while, and some people thought it was canned. Then, at E3 2011, it got confirmed.
Also, it's the Last Specter. It was confirmed at E3 it was being localized for the DS. There is a poll on Level-5's Facebook asking which major games that aren't confirmed for America the fans are interested in, and Layton vs. Wright is leading, so... BTW, has anyone seen Level-5's new American office? It's like the seediest game dev studio I've ever seen. :P I'm looking forward to those games, they just haven't come up, like Blade said. =P I'm slightly concerned about the apparent horrible dialogue of KI:U, but the gameplay and graphics look awesome. SF64 3D looks awesome, too. Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 02, 2011, 05:28:25 pm 1. Ooh. Makes sense now. =P
2. Well yeah, so hopefully that works; but I wouldn't expect any help from Capcom. >_> 3. Not me. =P And maybe Capcom should trade. =P 4. Eh, we lived through The Legend Reborn; and from what I've heard, the only problem is slight cheese. Not that that's a bad thing. =P Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: The Host on November 26, 2011, 04:08:43 pm I finally ended my long time relationship with the slowly growing amount of cash in my wallet and got a 3DS. i'm currently not connected through wi-fi (i should have this fixed soon- maybe). I anticipate getting MarioKart7 at Christmas, and currently my only game is the Super Mario 3D land game.
and all my previous DS games. Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 26, 2011, 06:41:37 pm Cool; you get it just in time for the huge update, then. =D
Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: The Host on November 26, 2011, 08:07:52 pm which update? i'll probably need internet to update, won't i?
Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 26, 2011, 08:34:31 pm Yeah, but you have approximately 3-4 days, depending on what day it's actually happening on... Wikipedia keeps changing the date, but I guess that's to be expected. =P Sometime next week, for sure, though.
Awesome update includes... Demos(Free for at the very least first party games) eShop update Mii Plaza update 3D Video Recording(Not sure about playback, but you'd think that'd be possible too...) And a few other things I can't think of. Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Ddude The Insane on November 27, 2011, 08:56:13 am Seriously, when IS that update? Only a few more days in November...
Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: The Host on November 28, 2011, 09:13:09 pm well i got internet working, but only for the 3ds, and not for ds games(specifically pokemon white). but that means i can get updates, so thats good.
i also downloaded pokedex 3d and LOZ4swords for free, so i have more stuff to do on the 3ds now. btw, can you get more pokemon in the pokedex by trading online, or only in person? Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: The Truth on November 28, 2011, 09:36:10 pm I think the update adds a sequel to Find Mii, too...
Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 29, 2011, 09:16:45 am Ddude: Before December 8th now. >_> I wonder if this applies to anything else... ::)
ZLS: You need to configure that in a separate spot in the Wi-Fi setup place. =P Truth: Probably; I was including that in the Mii Plaza update thing. =P Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: The Host on November 29, 2011, 11:34:38 am now i need to set up a new network or something because the ds games don't support WPA, or whatever i'm using...
setting up wi-fi is such as hastle... when the next pokemon game comes out it better support whatever wi-fi i have now and just immediately work properly... Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 29, 2011, 11:36:49 am Well, Black and White support WPA; but it stands to reason that anything built off the old DS original models will be restricted to only WEP or no protection. Anything built on the DSi models, and backported(Like Black/White), they will have access to the new WPA stuff.
And any 3DS games will just plain work. =P Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: The Host on November 29, 2011, 12:02:09 pm the only way i could get my 3ds to connect to a network was to set up WPS security for it, which I don't think BW supports...
is it possible to have 2 networks (one WPA, one WEP) running out of the same router? because I want to get my 3ds to be connected and allow DS games to work as well, but I don't want to/don't know how to change WPA to WEP. Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 29, 2011, 12:19:40 pm Black and White supports WPA. =P Any games that are 'Dsi Enhanced'(Aka, backported from the DSi), will work with WPA security.
I don't know if there's a way to have two connections running, though... Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: mtmerrick on November 29, 2011, 02:48:54 pm http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/29/3ds-system-update-pushed-back-to-december-8th-nintendo-confirms/
sorry guys :P Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 29, 2011, 03:18:01 pm Yeah, I already saw that one. =P However, Nintendo was enigmatic about that: They said that it would be released sometime before December 8th. For all we know, the update could be released tomorrow, though it's doubtful.
But hey, on the flipside, they never did give a definite date aside from 'late November' before... Any other stuff was simply Wikipedia guessing. =P Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: The Truth on December 07, 2011, 12:04:26 pm Apparently, the new 3DS update is now available.
Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 07, 2011, 12:07:44 pm It is, but apparently the eShop didn't get the memo. =P
Spotpass is included for Mii Plaza now, huh? I wonder what that'll allow, aside from me getting a new puzzle piece for a new puzzle that I can't finish without IRL friends. Video recording could be intriguing, however. =D Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: mtmerrick on December 11, 2011, 10:41:34 am http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/11/nintendos-3ds-slide-pad-gets-unboxed-in-japan-reveals-massive/
Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 11, 2011, 10:59:17 am I heard about that. Makes me jealous, because MHTriG is still up in the air on whether it'll be released here or not. Which is not something Capcom wants, given their track of fail this year.
However, at least now I can safely know that I just need to charge my 3DS every few hours when I get Tri G, instead of changing batteries too. =) Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: The Host on December 11, 2011, 03:18:21 pm For a second I thought the add on gave the 3ds an external battery that gave it 480 hours of play time...
Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 11, 2011, 06:32:25 pm Hah, that would take more than a couple triple a batteries. =P

And I just renewed my subscription. Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 21, 2012, 10:27:16 pm Hey, Truth, mind buying the Half Life games? We might have a chance of Half Life 3 sometime this century, with your luck of things happening just as you get or do something. =P ... That, or Half Life Series: Source 2. ::)
Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: The Truth on August 22, 2012, 10:44:42 am Remember, my luck with this is BAD. If I buy Half-Live, Valve is likely to go bankrupt. :P
Title: Re: Official Nintendo 3DS topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 22, 2012, 11:25:11 am ... Touche. =P You have a very good point about that. xD
In fact, your luck's just as bad as mine, with my track record. =P |
