My LEGO Nexus Organization

The Sensor Overload Challenge has come to a close, and the judges are judging. My guess is that the results will be posted tomorrow. The reasons for this "random" guess may not be so random. I thought I'd post my reasons here, even though they are mostly me being hopeful:

1. The Mindstorms site was partially down for a while earlier today. This may be insignificant, but it seems like they are always unavailable when they're updating something, or making some kind of change.
2. NXTLOGster left a comment yesterday:


I thought 2 days was a perfect warning time. Just enough time for everyone to see it

3. The last contest's results were posted 5 work days after the contest ended. NOT counting Independence Day as a holiday (I'm thinking a few, if not all, the judges are from Europe), it will be 5 work days after the contest ended tomorrow.
4. If I were them, I'd want to post it before the weekend. That means it would be either Thursday or Friday. I think Thursday would be the more likely choice because then they have time to post the new contest on Friday (just in time for kids to start working on their entries during the weekend)

Again, this is just hopeful thinking (with maybe a bit of truth in it 8)). The contest may take some extra time to judge because it has over 100 entries (which is over twice as much as the last contest's entries), and they might have to delay their result posting until Friday or Monday (I'm seriously doubting they would post it on the weekend). Either way, I will be posting the results here soon after they are posted on the Mindstorms website.

The results still haven't been posted, but I'd give it a few more minutes (or perhaps an hour  ;)).

EDIT: They're seriously delaying... and they still haven't posted the winners for the LEGO club caption contest either. :P

Indeed. I hate suspense.  :P Pretty much everyone I've told about my Ultimate LEGO Launcher is asking how I did in the contest... "Did you win?"
Me: "Uh... no"
Them: "What?"
Me: "The results still haven't been posted"
Them: "You mean people are still submitting entries?"
Me: "No, the judges are still judging"
Them: "When did the contest end?"
Me: "Over a week ago"
Them: "So who won?"

-Awkward silence-

My reason for them taking so long is that they need to pick 6 winners (one for each category) out of 109 entries, around 5 honorable mentions, and write a short paragraph of text for each of the winners. It could take a very long time to review all 109 entries, let alone pick 6 winners.

That's true. Though, 109 is a fairly low number compared to the Mascot contest for MML3... That was judged fairly quickly.

... Though, then again, that was the actual staff of the game, and they were likely working around the clock... >>;

Yeah, you're probably right. The last Mindstorms contest took 5 days to be judged, but had less than half as many entries. The last contest I entered (Robotic Pet Challenge, with 85 entries), it took them over a month to judge.  :P I can't see them doing that again, though.

There was a time when they would post contests on the first of every month no matter what. They're just not on top of it like that anymore.

Yeah... Well; hopefully the results get posted soon. =D

They posted two new things in the news section in the past two days. Neither of them are the results! Three's a charm though... so tomorrow?  8)

Hopefully. Now; when you say tomorrow, do you mean now, or Saturday? =P

I mean now, or within the next couple of hours. They just posted the new contest in the news section, which is something they usually don't do until they release the last contest's results. That can mean one of two things: Either they're posting them both today and accidentally posted the new contest first, or they know they won't be posting the results for a while so they went ahead and posted the new contest. Probably the latter, but I will still be checking the news every once in a while for the next two hours.  ;)

Well, let's hope that it's the former, then. =)

What's the new contest's theme, anyway?

To build a robot that explorers.  (http://www.mlno.org/index.php/topic,7104.0.html) I'm unsure that I'll be able to enter it.

EDIT: I think all others who entered the Sensor Overload competition can join me in saying...
