Title: Cave Story Post by: Canama on July 20, 2011, 11:53:40 am Cave Story is a game that was made by named Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya over five years, all by himself. It was released in 2004, and can be downloaded free for any computer OS here. (http://www.cavestory.org/downloads_game.php) (Be sure to get the English patcher unless you can read Japanese.) You can also buy it on the Wii Shop Channel and DSi Shop Channel, and a graphically-enhanced remake will be released later this year for the 3DS as a retail game.
I recently started playing it, and I love it. It is pretty challenging but also very fun. -Canama Title: Re: Cave Story Post by: KnownandUnknown on July 20, 2011, 11:55:14 am This game... I really like this game, but I've never finished it. I'm quite bad at these types of games.
Title: Re: Cave Story Post by: Canama on July 20, 2011, 12:03:59 pm I'm stuck in the fight against The Core right now. He always kills me when I've depleted his health halfway.

Given how Capcom just failed and cancelled Legends 3, however, I suddenly have some spare money to get the 3DS game when it releases. =P Title: Re: Cave Story Post by: Canama on July 20, 2011, 12:51:58 pm The computer version of the game is freeware. You don't need money to play the game.
-Canama Title: Re: Cave Story Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 20, 2011, 12:56:19 pm Oh, I know. I just want something to actually put my 3DS to use that isn't named 'Ocarina of Time 3D'. =P
I might try it in the mean time; you don't need a gaming computer to run it, correct? Title: Re: Cave Story Post by: Canama on July 20, 2011, 03:20:41 pm Oh, I know. I just want something to actually put my 3DS to use that isn't named 'Ocarina of Time 3D'. =P I have some things called "PilotWings Resort," "The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening," and "Super Mario Land." :PI might try it in the mean time; you don't need a gaming computer to run it, correct? It's a sprite game that was released in 2004. What do you think? :P -Canama Title: Re: Cave Story Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 20, 2011, 03:27:38 pm 1. Yeah, Link's Awakening is on my 'to-get' list for sure. And I'm not certain on Pilotwings; is it good? I haven't played the prior games, so I'm not certain.
2. You've got a point there. =P I might check it out soon. Still getting the updated version once I can, though... I have a funny feeling it's replacing the Megaman series for a while, in terms of games I play a lot. =/ /EDIT: Oooh. Cave Story's releasing on November the 8th. Perfect. =D Title: Re: Cave Story Post by: Canama on July 20, 2011, 04:11:54 pm Okay I just (Spoilers!) beat The Core and saved Curly. Now I keep dying in the next area. ;\

If "that" is the best ending, yeah.-Canama Title: Re: Cave Story Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 20, 2011, 04:54:17 pm Yeah, that's what I was referring to, but I wasn't sure if acknowledging that could be considered spoilers as well. =P
Title: Re: Cave Story Post by: Canama on December 15, 2011, 07:51:28 pm Cave Story+ is available in the Humble Indie Bundle #4, along with many other games!
Pay what you want!* *Actually, Cave Story+, along with Gratuitous Space Battles, is only available to those who pay for more than the average. Sorry about the misinformation. -Canama Title: Re: Cave Story Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 23, 2012, 01:41:07 pm Has there been any news on the new 3DS version of Cave Story, rumoured to be based more on CS+?
