I'll go first, I would like to be able to put a link in my signature that says just "here" or "TOWER Magazine".
Can anyone explain to the Dumb Dumb how this is done?

If you mean your avatar, that's just simply putting the URL. If the signature image, you simply wrap the image URL in the tags.

However, you have to 'deeplink' it. Basically, going into the image far enough that all you see is the actual file.(Aka, when it shows blahblahblah.jpg or .png or so; and it's not the embedded variant)

Yes you lose the Asterisks... You replace that with the URL.
