Title: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: The Truth on September 08, 2011, 04:23:10 pm One evening, over a scrumptious dinner of Dirt Sandwiches and Rock Fruit, the Faction Leaders had a friendly banter over which Faction reigned supreme:
"The Sentinels are obviously the best – they've got heart, courage and bravery!" Duke Exeter proclaimed! "When my Sentinels charge through, not a single Maelstrom is left standing!" "Blimey, Duke! Ye must've bit that Rock Fruit too hard, yer head is swimmin' with de fish!" Hael Storm chortled. "It be no secret: 'tis the Venture League that knows the face of true courage! Fearlessly, they adventure into the unknown – that takes guts!" With a smirk on her face, Vanda Darkflame shook her head knowingly. "Now, now. You can beat your chests as hard as you please, but when the sun sets, we all know that the Paradox are paramount to the success of the Nexus Force. Without the intel that we collect by studying the Maelstrom, we would all be lost. Indeed, Paradox is the foundation that the Nexus Force is built upon!" "Friends, we all believe that our Factions are the best. Each Faction offers their own unique skills and strengths to the Nexus Force. This debate could go on till the end of time! There is only one way to settle this," Doctor Overbuild reasoned. "A show of healthy competition: A grand Championship to determine, once and for all, who is the Nexus Force Champion!" With that, the 2011 Nexus Force Championships was born! Starting in October, not only will you compete to show which Faction is the best, but to prove that you are the one and only Nexus Force Grand Champion! For 12 weeks, minifigures from all corners of the Nexus will compete in a triathlon of events – Battling, Racing and Building. Each week will have individual winners (just like our weekly contests now). In addition to weekly prizes and glory, minifigures will also win Championship Points based on their placement in the weekly events! At the end of the 2011 Nexus Force Championships, the minifigure with the most Championship Points will be crowned as the 2011 Nexus Force Grand Champion. This Grand Champion will win fame, glory, over $5,000 in LEGO sets, a new computer and more! Think that is all? We are just getting started! In addition to the 2011 Nexus Force Grand Champion, 12 other minifigures will be able to claim titles such as Overall Champion of their Server, Battle Champion of their Server, Race Champion of their Server and Build Champion of their Server. Compete in the Nexus Force Champions not only for yourself, but for your Faction! Each event that you participate in will win Championship Points for your Faction! The Faction with the most points at the end of the Championship season will win a special prize in a 2012 update! There's still even more, a special limited-time Mission chain will be available for all members of the Nexus Force ending with a special commemorative wand to help celebrate the 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Brush up those Battling, Racing and Building skills now and show that you are the Nexus Force Champion! Does that mean what I think it means? =D
Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Jade on September 08, 2011, 06:05:45 pm I'm going to have to renew my sub for this!
Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on September 08, 2011, 06:09:27 pm Quote , a new computer Gotta get LU. GOTTA GET IT! Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Jayko on September 08, 2011, 07:24:07 pm Yes to that! This is going to be so much better than any weekly competition! (mainly because I suck at survival and shooting galleries, but do rather well at racing and building)
Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on September 08, 2011, 07:44:06 pm Rahkshi: If I get the computer, with my current one, that'd be crazy of me to sell it. =P
However... I'm not likely to have that happen, because that'd require constant access to a better computer that's not mine and a very long subscription so I have access to the full game. So technically to me, it's just another of those contests that have epically awesome prizes... but that I can't enter. =P Ah well. Likely wouldn't have won anyway. *Shrugs* There's always someone who does more than me it seems, like when Plotkin consistently ruled the Weekly Top Ten for LRC. Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Mahri828 on September 08, 2011, 09:41:20 pm I'm going to have to renew my sub for this! And I may have to second that... Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on September 08, 2011, 10:31:47 pm I'll be cheering you guys on.. too bad they don't have a prize for slowest granny... =P
Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Flipz on September 09, 2011, 12:21:35 am I'm going to have to renew my sub for this! And I may have to second that... Thirded. IF college doesn't get in the way. Which it will. <_< <_< Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on September 09, 2011, 09:21:41 am On a side note; I might be able to start playing the free version today! =D I have no clue if the computer I'm using is good enough, but I have hope. It's the best I have access to, so I have to hope so...
So, if it works, there's a possibility this might go my way... For once. =P /EDIT: asdf. asdf. ASDF. Why is it that no matter what computer I use, I get a 'Graphics card not supported' message? >_< I swear this is just not wanting me to play. >_< Best computer in the house... Nvidia graphics card... And I still can't play. >_< I'm just glad it was the free version I tried and I didn't waste upwards of 10 dollars... =/ Have fun winning that computer though. Once again; just another contest I'll never be able to participate in or win. Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Trijhak on September 09, 2011, 11:38:06 am I do not know why people are so excited for something that will only bring chaos to the game. What the brick happened to LEGO's 'all factions are equal and don't compete with each-other' stance?
Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on September 09, 2011, 11:40:08 am If you don't care about something that's a friendly competition likely against a common enemy, or to do for fun to break away from the normal game... Don't do it. It's likely optional.
And given the prizes, there might be other reasons people are excited for this. Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! What the brick happened to LEGO's 'all factions are equal and don't compete with each-other' stance? This surprises me somewhat to, although I do not foresee Chaos.. Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Trijhak on September 10, 2011, 08:40:57 am @Blade: You're not playing the game. The Factions are NOT enemies, they are allies. LEGO seems to think it's a competition. Also, the winning 'faction' gets a special update in 2012 just for themselves.
Kids (the majority of the game) will take any opportunity to insult anyone who isn't their faction. This isn't going to help, it's as if LEGO wants to destroy their own game. Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on September 10, 2011, 08:46:26 am Question; where does it say in that, that the winning faction will get an update? Simple, it doesn't.
And thank you for pointing out the obvious that I'm not playing the game, because I can't. However; doesn't it get tedious to just constantly fight and fight your enemies? Wouldn't your skills get rusty? Think of this as sparring or training. You might spar with your friend to help keep your skills up; but that mean your friend's automatically now an enemy? No. Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Jayko on September 10, 2011, 01:31:11 pm As I said on another forum:
"Immature people fight over their faction, get big in the head, and think they are the best. Immature people also don't win contests." Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! No. From the article: Quote The Faction with the most points at the end of the Championship season will win a special prize in a 2012 update! Please read the article before you say things like that. A special prize is NOT an update. Stop bickering and trolling. MsRR Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! From my month on LU, I did find a couple of complete jerks that I had to report. And there is already some factional segregation, which could indeed get worse from this. Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Mahri828 on September 11, 2011, 02:10:54 pm Leet speak? I didn't know that you could use that on the server... Can you give me an example? I may have a different understanding of leet speak is. And no, I don't believe that chat is enabled on the free servers :/
Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on September 11, 2011, 02:21:36 pm Chat isn't enabled for use, but i thought that i heard you can view it. Could be wrong, though.
Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Jayko on September 15, 2011, 07:51:24 am Quote from: Elementron Hi everyone, There will be an article detailing more information about the Championships in the coming weeks. However, I did want to give you an update on the Faction part of the Championships. We've run into some technical difficulties with tracking the factions in conjunction with how we will track individual process. With this complication and a lot of the feedback we've received, I've made the decision to exclude the faction impact of the Championships. That doesn't mean that your factions won't impact the game through future contests - I can almost guarantee they will. However, the Championships will be about individual glory only. In addition, for those of you who don't think you have a chance - don't count yourself out just yet. The Nexus Force Champion will be the most rounded player not the best in any one part of the game Elementron Looks like no faction wars after all! :D Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on September 16, 2011, 03:15:03 pm That's interesting. Looks like those who didn't want faction competitions got their wish. ::)
I still don't get the reason why there can't be friendly competition, however... I mean; does it really matter if one faction had've gotten that thing mentioned in the original article? People get things like that all the time in Real Life... Sure, maybe people have complained about even that, but the general consensus is that no matter what, there are complaints about everything. I mean, who knows; it might not've been anything important... It might very well have been a 0-0-0 weapon just to fool you. =P Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Mahri828 on September 16, 2011, 03:31:21 pm A 0-0-0 weapon? That's be interesting. =P You know, reading this, I do have to say that I've seen a lot of people ask for one on one fights with other minifigures. I don't think it would work out to well though. Especially if you had the above weapon. =P
Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on September 16, 2011, 03:58:41 pm Anyone who'd use the above weapon in actual combat aside from attempting to make things purposely hard, should be owned in said combat instance. =P That is just not a good idea. =P
Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Jayko on September 16, 2011, 04:22:41 pm That's interesting. Looks like those who didn't want faction competitions got their wish. ::) Unfortunately, I think what happened is they got so many complaints, that instead of ignoring them, and continuing on with their plan, they decided to give up. It almost makes the complainers more like whiners, just like the crux prime issues. First people whined that it was too easy, then they complain its to hard, now we are back to it being too easy =P.Title: Re: 2011 Nexus Force Championships! Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on September 16, 2011, 04:26:12 pm ::) They've gotta have a line that can't be crossed... While listening to whiners/complainers can be good at times, there's gotta be times where it's necessary to keep something one way, or people will just take advantage of the system... Such as with the Crux Prime stuff.
