Title: Scythe
Post by: MÆLXTRØM on October 09, 2011, 02:19:15 pm
If I'm friends with you on facebook, you may have seen this earlier today, but if not... o hai it's been like a year and a half.  During which, aside from the 11 months I spent in Michigan for senior year of college and a graphic design job there over the summer, I have been conceptualizing and building this (click it):
(https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-GE2VunziLuY/TpHtMVRmIPI/AAAAAAAAAcU/O0vO3EuGnzI/s128/DSCN3377.JPG) (https://picasaweb.google.com/105155262514774629292/Scythe?authkey=Gv1sRgCN7rsZiw2e3pdA#)
It's extremely complicated and was quite challenging to build/design. There are around ten bricklink orders in there....  It is also very durable and can be held in any desired manner without breaking.

In the last picture the left minifig is a mechanic and the other two are the drivers.

Apologies for the slightly out of focus pictures; I was taking close-up shots from a 6-8 foot distance to avoid distorting the proportions.

*Eyes pop from head*

That is totally elegant design and execution, CRX

Lots of detail made into the bike.

I espicially like how you put the minifigs together. Facial expressions suit their actions.

Thank you guys.

@R8 - I know that's you haha.  Thanks for the comments!  The angles in the front were really hard to achieve with any sort of durability, but they ended up being so strong that despite the weight, you can hold the Scythe by the upper or lower prongs connecting the front wheel (if that makes any sense lol) and they support the rest of the motorcycle.

I haven't posted anything to other communities online.  S'pose I should, though I don't want to be in a lot of places.  Which one of those would you suggest?

Wow long time no see. This looks great man. The amount of detail you put into your creations is amazing and it really shows in this one.

Nice man, that's epic. The main focus idea for the style seems to be similar to Shiv; especially with the bright green. =P I really like the back, how'd you manage to get all the "boosters" on the back in that manner though, that looks confusing. Anyways, great job; and the sides, amazing. :)

That's awesome, dude.  Hey, you should submit that to LEGO Cuusoo, it'd be an EPIC set!  ;)

This model is simply amazing. I like the details and color scheme, especially with the side turrets jutting out and the green and black of the... motorcycle... thing. It also looks really streamlined, which is a good thing. And for some reason, I can't see any photos from your Google+ account, so I'm judging from the thumbnail.

On an unrelated note, you could try Flickr, but I dunno any LEGO communities out there...

@R8 - Thanks for the recommendation, sounds good.  I'll take a look when possible.

@Mahri - The Shiv and the Scythe came from the same inspiration actually.  Then they diverged wildly.  I had all the dark green and lime parts from the original Shiv after I reskinned it for that contest, so for the Scythe I decided to go the direction the Shiv didn't go.  Their relation is one of the reasons each is named for a cutting instrument which begins with the letter 'S'.

@B~T - The permissions are set to "everyone on the web" so I have no idea why you can't see it.  But it has been accepted at the LU Creation Lab (http://universe.lego.com/en-us/community/creationlab/displaycreation.aspx?id=26111e09-4b47-42d8-b4ac-a2c6208139d6) so if Google hates you for some reason, you can see a couple more pictures there.

Want to know what fellow bricker, Lego Rocks eh, when you enter a contest between two brickers and somehow out of all that comes something that helps the world in some small way in saving what we hold dearest,  :D :),  you are one of those people my friend, can't wait to see what you do with the real world when you finish school.

btw, this could be the model that makes Lego say  "Guess we should start listening"

Nevermind... I had NoScript on and I didn't notice it blocked a site needed to see the pictures...
