I have found a dremel to be quite useful in sculpting pumpkins...

Haha it's a great little trick indeed  :D

I've never carved a pumpkin before, mainly because I was too young to use a knife of any kind when we did used to buy pumpkins. I'd like to get one this year and carve some designs in it. That Bionicle mask looks amazing carved. Did you draw it out on the pumpkin first?

i used these tools, along with a template i printed out from mask of destiny.

tape the template on the pumpkin, use the little spiked tool on the far right to make guidelines where you need to cut, and then cut/scrape as directed.

long, but easy. :)

We tried to make pumpkin pie out of pumpkins a few times. Failed pretty bad each time. First year it was like bland, watery, jello, faintly flavored like pumpkin.  Second year it was burnt, goopy stuff that made your eyes water there was so much spices.

We haven't tried since. :P

Were they freshly cut pumpkin, or carved and displayed?

Carved, on display for a couple hours, then pie'd.

I saw. And, as I said, we always buy fairly large carving pumpkins. So IDK how well it'd work.
