Title: Brickgame
Post by: Blade on April 17, 2010, 09:10:46 am
So, just how many people remember this game?

I loved Brickgame, it was a classic game... but it was always slow and I think it's been taken down now. Either that or no-one plays on it. But I'd love to see it come back, with better performance and a few more phrases perhaps.

Great topic, I'll tell you why, it was the I think one of the first online things Lego did to make things feel a little more interactive, yes Tom, it was slow but still fun and a descent game all in all.

I have an idea (I can read Blades mind) Let's make this an MLNO game, just for us, Brick game MLNO style.

Whatya think?

That would be cool, but how would it work?

Lots of options open here on this one. The game could be forum wide, in other words, a part of the forum, due to it's nostalgia, or it could be part of the arcade, I'd rather it had it's own board, along with perhaps a few other Lego games. We could also use it as a team compitition device. Awards could be afforded and dare I say, even a rep or 2, as champion for a month, afterall, this is MLNO and we do have some pretty creative people here

That is, if we can program such a game...

But I remember this game;

Although I only played ~10 games, I have never lost one. =P

It's still up here:

Meh, I find it boring.

Can't be part of arcade. THough a text version isn't out of the question...

Sounds good man, I'm not a pc wiz, but if there is anything I can do to help make this happen, let me know eh

Hmm... a text version.... Perhaps using the table function for games, and you challenge others via PM...? Just a thought.
And I'm with Legodac, I'd love to help out and try to make this possible.

Great post Tom, now we are three,...

The best part is playing the game, just like at Lego.com, but even better, we'll be able to talk to each other, and as I remember thinking, that was what the game lacked, it gave you the oppertunity to give limited respones, here we could make the game excell

Title: Re: Brickgame
Post by: Kritzelei on April 17, 2010, 11:13:21 am
Yeah, the speech part was basically "I like your minifig." "You play like my little sister" and "I am the Brickgame Champion!"... with about 10 other responses. :P If we wanted matches though... would we have to create individual topics for each match? And have them all in a Brickgame sub-forum? Or perhaps we could do teams v. teams, those who aren't in a team could perhaps be on a team together. Then multiple members could take part in one game of two teams. :)

Awesome, I like the way you think, very creative. So many options eh, now we we have to do is get a few more Brickgamers on bourd before Blade makes it happen

;D We should start advertising! :D It kind of looks like we've taken over this topic now. :) I can't wait to see if Blade makes it happen!

Maybe we could call it Brickgame Re-imagined?

Maybe from time to time, we could do team vs. team. And maybe sometimes Two teams vs. two teams, too.

Post by: Kritzelei on April 17, 2010, 11:34:45 am
That sounds like quite a good name. :) Are there any other groups of allied teams? Perhaps we could have Allied Teams v. Allied Teams.

Perhaps this could be another way to get limit teams into normal teams?

(like Have your team win at least 10 Brickgames together and have all your more active/posting members win  a brickgame once?)

Title: Re: Brickgame

Now that's a good idea. Heck; we could have this replace the team comps in a way...

Best way to advertise?

Stepped on Blade, sorry pal

I happen to love the idea of having a Brickgame competition. Seeing as how the Brickgame is like Connect Four... maybe there's a way to embed a version of Connect Four on the website?

@Blade:

Yeah, and they'd be more frequent, too, at this rate with the competitions we won't have any normal teams by this time next year.

That wouldn't happen if I had more ideas on how to actually do them. >_>

I remembered it, blue and red bricks, they just go well together.

Does this still game still exist? If so, I'd like to play it with someone.

They took the official game off the website.... =/

Title: Re: Brickgame

It's disappointing, yes,  but there's nothing much that can be done, since it's in the same predicament that DRC was in, with the reliance on the server... =/

That's too bad, I had a lot of fun in it...

Yeah, same here. =/

We could always attempt to make our own version of it, with members of this site playing it. Hopefully. It's a possibility, but who would recreate it?

Title: Re: Brickgame

I am sure we have some members with the skill.

I may be learning to code in the near future, however, a game would be too complex for a potential code newb like me. I doubt I would have the patience, either.

*Pauses* Hmm... That might just be an idea. The biggest problem would be hosting it, and it being an online game; but I think it could be possible.

Title: Re: Brickgame
Post by: Jade on January 14, 2013, 03:12:13 am
I.... Might be able to help with it, I'm in an app programming course right now. After I get the basics down, I could possibly re-create the game.

I could definitely help with the 3D Models that'd likely be needed, since sprites nowadays might not look that great, if it's a variable resolution game. Fixed resolution might work, but I'm sure we can have something that all the members can use, while still being relatively modern. =)

I could definitely make a single player (vs. the computer) version, but I have absolutely no experience with multi player game creation. In any case, I can help with models or artwork or anything else.

Brickgame was indeed awesome. I do wish we could revive it ourselves, as I've said a couple times now. =P Maybe in the future, though likely not NEAR future. =P I'd likely need a way to host it, after all, for one.
