Title: Sensor Overload Winners
Post by: CheshireCat150 on July 18, 2011, 09:08:05 pm

I.... DIDN'T WIN. Here is the link to the winners (http://us.mindstorms.lego.com/en-us/News/ReadMore/Default.aspx?id=336463).

I don't understand it. I didn't even get honorable mention. My project was rated in the top 3 creations in the challenge almost continuously, so what did the judges see wrong with my project that they wouldn't even give me honorable mention?

Want a hug?? {-}

 I'm sorry you didn't win... I experienced this sometimes with lego contests in there magazines; I also think that my creation should be in there, but, there's not to much to do about it. =/

Thanks for the hug, MsRR. I need it.

I still don't understand though. Could it possible be that I didn't win because I used a non-LEGO element (rubber band)? I attempted to use a LEGO rubber band, but it was so weak and flimsy that it broke instantly. Still, though, one of the honorable mentions used a non-LEGO element.

 It could be that they randomly selected from their top twenty favorites or something. =/

Ugh... that would hurt sooo bad to think that we spend so much time on this contest, only for them to randomly select a winner.  :P

 I know, but unfortunately, that's how they do it sometimes. =/

 And irritating, but then again, I don't think that we could do much about it. =/

I have received a huge amount of praise from family and friends for this achievement (including one from my grandfather who usually isn't very open. He simply said, "You're a genius"). I am going to accept it as it is: I didn't win, but my family is proud, my friends are supportive, NXTLOGers rated it to be the 3rd best creation in the contest, MLNO considered it awesome, and it was another one of my unforgettable accomplishments.

Thanks everyone for being supportive.  :)

You had a much much better creation CC! When I first saw it, I freaked out. I showed my NXT Loving friend, and he freaked out. You have truly inspired many people, and in the end, no award can replace that!

Sorry I was unable to respond sooner. I am having issues with my main computers Backlight on the LCD...

Thank you for your kind words, Jayko. Encouragement really means a lot to me, and it inspires me to keep going. Your comment significantly improved my feelings on this issue.  :)

I hope you solve your computer problem.

Thank you, remarkably, it started working again! (Must be a loose transistor cable that goes on and off . . .)

I'm going to look at your creation more in a bit, but it's really a shame. =/
