Contest Idea

I actually think that might be a good idea. Keep the wide amount of ways to enter; but at least test if the idea in general will work, with an obvious theme for February. What say you, MsRR? Would that be a good way to gauge if something like this would work, without the possibility of devolving into controlled chaos by way of 'but wait, what are we supposed to do? You say do anything, but really, what should I do?', even if I doubt that would happen because of this topic.

A Valentines day contest would be fun... but not what I had in mind at all.  And since Valentines day is my least favorite holiday, I would not be excited about judging it.  But I can see where it would be a successful contest.

And yes, ZLS... er Host, A broad contest with a theme allows many people to enter in a variety of ways (written, drawn, modeled etc) is exactly what I had in mind...

But I had not really thought of multiple judges... it was going to be either single judge or vote.
 
The whole idea was for people to express something that they had rolling around inside.. not for me/us to tell them what it should be.

IF I had to name it I guess I would have called it "Make something for Grandma"  lol..  or even better"Surprise Me"  Yes, that's it..

I have no interest in a contest where the idea is born in  me and someone else executes it.  Knowing what is inside the box can ruin the joy of opening the gift....

And yes, it could be an event of sorts rather than a contest, since no one who brings forth tangible fruit from a thought or idea ever truly looses.

Didn't even think of this really. However, when I said judge, I didn't really have a panel of judges in mind, but rather individuals voting would have a somewhat harder (and possibly biased) time 'judging' other's work based on how it is presented. However, the broad theme and broad spectrum of ways to present 'art' calls to many more people, so I'me excited to see how others will react to this sort of event/contest.

Although a broad contest/event is good, without some sort of guidelines entries will be all over the place (maybe this is what you want). Actually, now that I understand your point of view, having lots of entries just put forth their best work without a general theme in mind would be cool and interesting to look at.

This. I'm ready to enter some sort of contest. I have almost a week of nothing else to do, currently...

I am thinking new stuff..

A chapter of a larger work previously unpublished would be both new and finished.

Did you have something specific in mind?

1. That's what I thought. =P

2. So, if I, say, put up a chapter of one of my current stories, it'd be considered new, then?

3. Maybe, maybe not. I'm still deciding. If I need to, I can probably write up something just for this. =)

Major annoyance, though: I might have something good shortly; but I literally have no way to have it get uploaded. xD Unless... Maybe if I handle this slightly differently, but use this as a test... Hmm...

Because I have no way for what I just drew to be saved to an image: It's not on paper, nor a typical drawing program. =/

No; it's swapnote on my 3DS. Which is the reason I can't upload, as it has no option to save the images to the SD card. Have a really good title logo for DoaH, too, which I was gonna use. =P

Can you send it to someone who has SD capability?

That's the thing; I don't believe Swapnote does have the potential to save notes to an SD; otherwise I'd do it in a heartbeat, if not your suggestion than myself. I can continue to look, but that'll be tomorrow or so.

I don't think you can; but I can test that later. it's entirely possible it does; I haven't really been messing around with it much. xD Today's only the first time I actually started to experiment with it. >>'

The 3DS seriously needs a dedicated drawing app like Flipnote, though. =/
