This is long but worth the read. This is NOT a democrat or republican issue.

Obama gives himself control of all communication systems in America

US President Barack Obama quietly signed his name to an Executive Order on Friday, allowing the White House to control all private communications in the country in the name of national security.

President Obama released his latest Executive Order on Friday, July 6, a 2,205-word statement offered as the “Assignment of National Security and Emergency Preparedness Communications Functions.” And although the president chose not to commemorate the signing with much fanfare, the powers he provides to himself and the federal government under the latest order are among the most far-reaching yet of any of his executive decisions.

“The Federal Government must have the ability to communicate at all times and under all circumstances to carry out its most critical and time sensitive missions,” the president begins the order. “Survivable, resilient, enduring and effective communications, both domestic and international, are essential to enable the executive branch to communicate within itself and with: the legislative and judicial branches; State, local, territorial and tribal governments; private sector entities; and the public, allies and other nations.”

President Obama adds that it is necessary for the government to be able to reach anyone in the country during situations it considers critical, writing, “Such communications must be possible under all circumstances to ensure national security, effectively manage emergencies and improve national resilience.” Later the president explains that such could be done by establishing a “joint industry-Government center that is capable of assisting in the initiation, coordination, restoration and reconstitution of NS/EP [national security and emergency preparedness] communications services or facilities under all conditions of emerging threats, crisis or emergency.”

“The views of all levels of government, the private and nonprofit sectors, and the public must inform the development of NS/EP communications policies, programs and capabilities,” he adds.

On the government’s official website for the National Communications Systems, the government explains that that “infrastructure includes wireline, wireless, satellite, cable, and broadcasting, and provides the transport networks that support the Internet and other key information systems,” suggesting that the president has indeed effectively just allowed himself to control the country’s Internet access.

In order to allow the White House to reach anyone within the US, the president has put forth a plan to establish a high-level committee calling from agents with the Department of Homeland Security, Pentagon, Federal Communications Commission and other government divisions to ensure that his new executive order can be implemented.

In explaining the order, the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) writes that the president has authorized the DHS "the authority to seize private facilities when necessary, effectively shutting down or limiting civilian communications."

In Section 5 of his order, President Obama outlines the specific department and agency responsibilities that will see through his demands. In a few paragraphs, President Obama explains that Executive Committee that will oversee his order must be supplied with “the technical support necessary to develop and maintain plans adequate to provide for the security and protection of NS/EP communications,” and that that same body will be in tasked with dispatching that communiqué “to the Federal Government and State, local, territorial and trial governments,” by means of “commercial, Government and privately owned communications resources.”

Later, the president announces that the Department of Homeland Security will be tasked with drafting a plan during the next 60 days to explain how the DHS will command the government’s Emergency Telecommunications Service, as well as other telecom conduits. In order to be able to spread the White House’s message across the country, President Obama also asks for the purchasing of equipment and services that will enable such.

Wow. Started off rather useful, as keeping communications up in times that they otherwise wouldn't be can be good.

It... quickly derailed from that point on. =|

Obama Plans Executive Order To Force Cybersecurity Boondoggle On America
Sunday, September 9, 2012 8:20
Kurt Nimmo

Obama plans to violate the Constitution again and issue yet another executive order. The latest EO would create a government program protecting vital computer networks from cyber attacks, according to Bloomberg. The Department of Homeland Security would establish cybersecurity standards that companies could “voluntarily adopt to better protect banks, telecommunication networks and the U.S. power grid from electronic attacks.”

As we have pointed out on numerous occasions, cyber attacks do not threaten the power grid in the United States. Critical infrastructure in the U.S. is rarely connected directly to the public internet. “The fact of the matter is that it isn’t easy to do any of these things. Your average power grid or drinking-water system isn’t analogous to a PC or even to a corporate network,” writes Michael Tanji for Wired.

Despite this, the government has perpetuated propaganda designed to scare average Americans into backing cyber security legislation. In July, the Department of Homeland Security said companies controlling the country’s power grid, water filtration facilities and a nuclear facility have come under hacker attack.

Regardless of the sustained propaganda effort, the public has not demanded lawmakers pass legislation allowing government to impose cybersecurity measures on public and private infrastructure companies.

In August, despite the best efforts of “top military and national security officials,” a much-anticipated (by government) cybersecurity bill went down in the flames in the Senate. A Republican filibuster killed “years of bipartisan efforts to establish stricter security standards and, some experts say, could leave the nation vulnerable to widespread hacking or a serious cyberattack,” the Washington Post reported.

Obama’s latest EO was contrived after the failure to push through legislation in the Senate. “The administration is contemplating using an executive order because it isn’t clear Congress would pass a cybersecurity bill,” reports Bloomberg.

In other words, the imperial presidency controlled by Obama’s globalist handlers will once again violate the Constitution, specifically Article 1, Section 1, that states: “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.” The Constitution does not say that if Congress fails to pass legislation, the president can then implement it by executive fiat. Specific bills must originate in the House and Senate and then go to the president for signature in order to become law.

“An executive order is one of a number of measures we’re considering as we look to implement the president’s direction to do absolutely everything we can to better protect our nation against today’s cyberthreats,” said White House spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden. “We are not going to comment on ongoing internal deliberations.”

Jerry Brito and Tate Watkins noted last year that cybersecurity is a big and booming industry. “The U.S. government is expected to spend $10.5 billion a year on information security by 2015, and analysts have estimated the worldwide market to be as much as $140 billion a year. The Defense Department has said it is seeking more than $3.2 billion in cybersecurity funding for 2012,” they wrote in August/September issue of Reason magazine.

The military-industrial complex is the tip of the spear of the national security state. Cybersecurity supposedly protecting against exaggerated and phantom threats is a key element of the public-private partnership takeover of industry:

Traditional defense contractors, both to hedge against hardware cutbacks and get in on the ground floor of a booming new sector, have been emphasizing cybersecurity in their competition for government business. Lockheed Martin, Boeing, L-3 Communications, SAIC, and BAE Systems have all launched cybersecurity divisions in recent years. Other defense contractors, such as Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, and ManTech International, have also invested in information security products and services.

As James E. Miller and others have noted, it is also a key element of corporatist fascism. “Public-private partnerships are the embodiment of what Mussolini dubbed ‘corporatism;’ that is the ‘merger of state and corporate power.’ Under corporatism, the ruling class is able to expand unbeknownst to the Boobus Americanus and its equivalent in other countries,” Miller writes.

Umm... If I may point out, cyber security is extremely important. Imagine if the internet were to crash. The data lost would be irreparable. I'm not saying what's being done is completely right, but it is a step in the right direction. To be honest, I might be embarassed a bit to know that people are reading and listening to my every communication save for letters, but I'm not gonna go terrorist, so it's really not a concern for me.
Also, you can't blame Obama for what has come under attack despite security. Let me make this clear; there is no possible way to prevent all forms of attack. There are defenses against hacking, but no way to make sure you can't get hacked in the first place. So guess what? Those places (like the nuclear facility) that were attacked? It said nothing about them being taken, so obviously what he's doing has stopped something.
As for Obama following in Mussolini's footsteps of facism... Wow, just wow. I realize that not everyone is going to like Obama, but he is our president, and he does deserve a level of respect. To the Kurt Nimmo, the author of this... article: It's blatantly obvious that you hate our president, but you should try to fix up the parts of your paper that make this article rather silly to read. I could write better. It's really unprofessional when you leave out facts to make other ones look worse. If you're doing to quote, don't do it completely out of context, no one appreciates that but FOX news. And if you really hate Obama enough to write this, then good for you.

Where does it say "following in footsteps"?? I did a word search and could not find it anywhere.
I think you are over reacting.

Pretty much everyone on the internet has been against the cyber measures, Mahri.. even Google.
Started with SOPA...

This is just more of the same...with a new hairbow.

PS.. I did not write this , it is a FULL article, nothing out of context.. link provided above for verification.

1. At the very end, it says that Obama is doing what Mussolini did, only under a different name.

2. I am also against SOPA, however, I completely agree that we need more countermeasures to cyber defense. This is not the same. SOPA was going to put thousands of people in prison. This is something to help national security.

3. I know you didn't write it, but yes, the quotes that the author (Kurt Nimmo as I read it) used are taken out of context to make Obama look worse than he actually is.

4. I noted that you said it wasn't a democratic or republican issue. It shouldn't be, but you're wrong. Every time Obama has said yes, the republican party has said no. So pretty much everything that Obama tries to do becomes a political chaos house.

5. I'm not mad at you, just mad at the author. Some of what he said was pretty ignorant and he really stretched some things in there to make it look way worse than it is.

Well, that's where it's overplayed. This is complete control over the national security of cyberspace. Nothing to do with sites like this and youtube and reddit and stuff.

Perhaps, but it's still total control over something. I don't assume Obama to be a computer expert anyway, so how would this help?

Good point, Raks..

Mahri, you are misinterpreting this line
Quote
As James E. Miller and others have noted, it is also a key element of corporatist fascism. “Public-private partnerships are the embodiment of what Mussolini dubbed ‘corporatism;’ that is the ‘merger of state and corporate power.’ Under corporatism, the ruling class is able to expand unbeknownst to the Boobus Americanus and its equivalent in other countries,” Miller writes.

corporatism,
capitalism
socialism
communism

all forms of govt..

Author was just pointing that out, not saying Obama was like Mussolini.

Sounds like you are a huge Obama fan, and you have a right to be, tho I disagree.

I think Obama may have some good intentions, but he is in my opinion taking a bad road to try and achieve them.. Socialism is not what I want for my country

BTW I am NOT a republican, and I do not like Romney, tho I do like Ryan... I was for Ron Paul..

Sorry for nitpicking but capitalism and socialism are economic systems not forms of government...

Also what I think should be done about national security over the internet is something of a similar degree of what my high school has. At my high school we have cameras, but we are not under constant surveillance. They use the film to find where a student is if they are in the school and skipping class, or to find out who vandalized school property, etc. Like a couple years ago someone set the bathroom on fire, and with the camera records the school found and expelled the culprit. Obama's system isn't too far from that.

And I also don't quite understand how the protecting businesses from terrorists is similar to fascism.

More things that I don't quite understand is how both candidates are so similar on many issues, like the failed war on drugs and major cutting of military spending. Neither has even addressed prison overcrowding, the military industrial complex, income disparity, or the privatization of prisons. I am not claiming some conspiracy theory, or anything like that, but Romney and Obama are quite similar.

Also even fox news says Paul Ryan is misleading and deceiving.
