Again I will weep.
Today marks the 15th anniversary of the ground-shaking terrorist attacks led against the United States of America.
American Airlines Flight 11 - 87 passengers and crew, plus 5 hijackers.
Hit the North World Trade Center Tower at 8:46 AM EST.
United Airlines Flight 175 - 59 passengers and crew, plus 5 hijackers.
Hit the South World Trade Center Tower at 9:03 AM EST.
American Airlines Flight 77 - 59 passengers and crew, plus 5 hijackers.
Hit the west side of the Pentagon at 9:37 AM EST.
United Airlines Flight 93 - 40 passengers and crew, plus 4 hijackers.
Crash-landed in a field near Shanksfield, Pennsylvania at 10:03 AM, EST.
Of the above flights, nothing good happened. Except for one thing.
They brought out HEROES.
At the site of the Twin Towers, the New York City Fire Department climbed floor after floor, each man carrying 100 pounds of equipment with him, checking every floor for survivors till the last second and even beyond.
At the Pentagon, both firefighters and survivors searched for survivors until right before the roof collapsed in front of them.
On Flight 93, the passengers themselves revolted against the hijackers, forcing them to crash the plane before they could hit a larger target.
These acts of courage, bravery, selflessness, and sacrifice shall never be forgotten. I implore all who read this to post with only the utmost respect for the heroes, victims, and families affected.
I was born in NY, and grew up there. I had several friends working in the WTC.. and lost 3 of them on that day. One of them.. the boy who gave me my first real kiss.. had gotten out clear, and went back inside to help. Many good people were lost that day, and many became heroes in the days following. I ask you to remember this in all the days to come.
I WILL NEVER FORGET
