Just to clarify, there are more then 2 views. I believe in old earth and evolution, but am still Christian. I'm not sure about Adam and Eve. There's no proof (that I know of) either way.

i believe in Adam and eve. (Jews and Muslims also believe in Adam and eve, that i learned from studying Pandora's box, fyi) i believe that time flows differently in the garden of eden, and dinosaurs roamed the earth while the 2 humans were in the garden, and then god sent down a meteor to kill the dinosaurs (that did kill them, there is proof of a meteor) and let the humans out, because of the apple.

I believe in evolution, and is not christian.

EDIT: I believe in the evolution because... It is nearly impossible that God made the world in 6 days. The evolution follows the nature rules.

Well, I'm christian all the way. I believe in creationism.
As for the issue of the dinosaurs, perhaps they were killed in the flood? No-one knows for sure, but that's my theory.

I believe in evolution in the idea that changes over time brought us to where we are. I don't know about apes or monkeys or anything, but we had to come from somewhere.

However, despite this, I like to think that God set the whole process in motion.

Yeah, because God can do anything (according to Christians like me).
I still agree with mwarvik that it wasn't a literal 6 days. There's too much evidence against it.

If you take a literal translation of the Bible, Noah took ALL types of animals on the ark, actually.

I'm a Christian, and I believe in Adam and Eve. I believe that the earth is around 5770 years old and dinos were around when all other animals were around. (here's some proof) After the Flood, the weather wasn't so great, and the dinos slowly died out. That's what I think. Wink

In the Bible, it says that God is a supernatural God.

Despite the idea of "When in doubt, go to Wikipedia," Wikipedia's not exactly the best source in a debate. Wink

I believe in God, and Created evolution. That being that God indeed made the heavens and the earth, which has evolved since then.
When I lived in Connecticut, I had some friends who attended a different church, and I attended theirs with them some times. I remember once when the minister was discussing creation vs evolution. He said one way to reconcile the two was to consider that the biblical meaning of the word "day" might be being construed too literally as 24 hours, because OUR day is 24 hours.  What if we are discussing dimensional time??
Before you toss the idea out, consider the length of a day on Jupiter...Neptune.. Pluto. ( The " Heavens" in those days)  God has infinate reach and infinate power, so  perhaps his " day" has an expanded reach as well.

I believe that God's creation of the Earth and of us took 6 "days" and on the seventh day he rested.

Do you any reason to suppose the wheather wasn't that great? And can whether changes wipe out several species?
You don't need to prove that God is supernatural to Christians. I think MsRR pretty much explained my view.

If the earth is that young, then how can we see stars? We can see the Andromeda Galaxy (and others farther that I haven't looked up) 2.5 million light-years away away. It took 2.5 million years for that light to start reaching us.

I see your point. I guess I don't know how the dinosaurs were killed, then. Perhaps they became extinct by hunting? I wouldn't want to hunt down a T-rex, but maybe they did.

The earth was covered with water for 1 year, after it went down, I think there must have been some extreme weather.

You don't need to prove that God is supernatural to Christians.

So you believe God is supernatural, right? We can see stars because God made them visible to earth on the day He created them. There is no science in that, Tongue but, hey, you and I believe he's supernatural.

That's what I believe.

Remember though? don't we have proof that men where bigger back in the older times? for all we know adam could have been 25 feet tall!

I am a christian i believe in the bible and what it says, don't we know that is the most accurate history book in the world? all other books when the are found point and confirm what the bible says.

knightsfan: how do we know that Gods days(when he created the earth) where the  same as our days? It could be that they where 25.5 million years long! The point is the bible never said how long Adam and Eve lived in the garden!.

And how could you not believe we all came from Adam when every man IN the world! Has one gene that is the same?

I must say that i am very interested in all of everyones ideas.

Adam was 130 years old when Seth was born, and that was several years after they left the garden.
