I know that Aero will be built into 4.0, but I'm not sure about the progress bar.

(if you want Aero now, just download AeroBuddy.)

EDIT: I found another addon I love. Firedownload. It speeds up downloads a lot. Crashes on occasion though. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10615#install-beta

Aero just means that it makes the toolbars and stuff transparent. it looks awesome.

Hmm. Does it show the background, and/or take up more memory/speed than a normal Firefox would? I don't really think that'd be all that good if so(I eventually stuck with normal Firefox even on 3.6, aka no Persona, because of that. =P)

I have been wondering about the memory/speed cost of Firefox add on's as well.

I bought my son a used computer because his wife is not letting go of his computer and yet when everything is final, he mey get it back.
Here are the specs
AMD Athlon XP 1.1 GHz, 256 MB RAM, ATI Radeon 9200 video card, 80 GB IDE HD (30 GB still free).
500 watt, quality power supply. IBM 19" LCD display. IBM optical mouse, MS Natural Keyboard.
Memorex 52X CD reader/writer, 3.5" disk drive, DVD reader.
Windows XP Pro SP3 with all updates. AVG Antivirus. Firefox. ITunes.

 
No super computer here..

So what is the scoop on adons?

@Blade: Aero does use up a lot of RAM, but Memory Fox (or AFOM, since Memory Fox is offline for updating) takes care of that.

MsRR: All but the actual memory seems similar to my old computer. I'd have to let someone else talk about the memory costs, but I don't think they're all that bad, but I think the graphic ones, like Personas(If used) and Aero would be big costers.

@Blade: Yeah, Memory Fox is safe. The maker took it down while they worked on Memory Fox 1.4 and Memory Fox Plus.  I'll tell you when it's back up.

Thanks Blade.. When I bought it, I went to 4 sites.. Here, team. IZ and mhoz, since he belongs to similar sites, but for Vintage Volvos.  I forgot to check MLN itself, but I don't think he goes on there much anymore.

So I am still looking for which addons use a lot of "juice"

Well, I don't know if it actually uses a lot of memory, but when it's updating with the little popup every so often, Forecaster Fox seems to slow down when using flash stuff, or other resource intensive programs. It can be handy, however.

Well...Aero addons use a lot of "juice", it sounds like Forecastfox does...Memory Fox, AFOM, and Memory Fox Plus reclaim RAM, which is useful...

Do all those give accumulative RAM bonuses, or is it just one or the other when choosing?

Like, do they all free more RAM when all installed, or is it just the better that frees the most type of deal?

AFOM is the older version of Memory Fox. Memory Fox Plus is just Memory Fox with more features. just use one.

1: It allows you to edit webpages using Javascript. (Be careful! Some websites forbid the use of Greasemonkey scripts!) For example, I have one called Secure Connections On Sites that forces all compatible sites to use HTTPS. (glitches on addons.mozilla.org though...)

2: It automatically checks for and downloads updated addons whenever you start Firefox.
