Mindstorm robots that solve Rubik's Cubes never fail to amaze me. I can only imagine how complex the programming is... and even building it to be that fast, efficient, and accurate must be a challenge. However, many people have done it. Recently I found a video of an amazingly fast robot created by Mike Dobson: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaRcWB3jwMo&feature=player_embedded

There's an android app I had that shows how to do this. Looked at the source code the Dec posted, and it was beyond me. Porting that into NXT code, and adding motors and other peripherals into that code is just incredible.

I'm a lost cause, not a hero, but I'll make it on my own. I've gotta prove them wrong - It's me against the world. It is, in the end, whatever the **** I want it to be. And when I'm through with it, it's gonna blow a hole this wide straight through the worlds own idea of itself. ... Come on, lets go break their arms.

Yep, I think just being able to solve a Rubik's cube or build an NXT robot is a feat in itself. Combined, it is AMAZING.
Speaking of which, does anyone here know how to solve a Rubik's cube?

I can solve the Cube, and I made a robot that could flip and twist it. But the programming is beyond me . . .

I can solve a Rubik's cube too. I never bothered to build an NXT that can manipulate a Rubik's cube because I knew the programming would be impossible. I doubt it's possible to program an NXT to solve without having it communicate with a computer, and I don't have a computer program that would allow me to do that anyway.

Here is an old post from 20092Mak07 built a mindstorms robot thing that solves it last week... so fun to watch. Even tho it never actually succeeds because he is missing one sensor
It was much like this one...

Yea, I was bored one day, so I made it. I was able to program it to solve a pre-set scramble.
