Yesterday I completed my Disney's Tower of Terror. If you haven't been on the ride before, you should know that the ride takes place on a maintenance service elevator, which you board because the actual elevators are out of order. Before you board, you are travel through a hotel lobby displayed below, and watch a short video in the library.

My version of the lobby:

Text from the short video in the library:
"You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension. A dimension of sound. A dimension of sight. A dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into...The Twilight Zone. Hollywood, 1939. Amid the glitz and the glitter of a bustling, young movie town at the height of its golden age, The Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in its own right; a beacon for the show business elite. Now, something is about to happen that will change all that. The time is now on an evening very much like the one we have just witnessed. Tonight's story on The Twilight Zone is somewhat unique and calls for a different kind of introduction. This, as you may recognize, is a maintenance service elevator still in operation, waiting for you. We invite you, if you dare, to step aboard because in tonight's episode, you are the star. And this elevator travels directly to...The Twilight Zone."

You then board the ride, travel to the second floor, and watch another short clip:

"You are the passengers on a most uncommon elevator about to ascend into your very own episode of...The Twilight Zone. One stormy night long ago, five people stepped through the door of an elevator and into a nightmare. That door is opening once again, and this time it's opening for you. "

I'm getting an adrenal rush just reading the words... you then get dropped, thrown back up, dropped again... oh wait, I forgot to mention- you don't "drop" you are pushed. Therefore you are falling at speeds faster than gravity. The ride is EPIC.

Well, here is my version of it. Extremely simplified because I built it out of LEGO bricks and Mindstorms (over 500 LEGO bricks, in case you're wondering). I wish I had more pics and a video for you, but I am still uploading it to the NXTLOG. I'm afraid it might not be approved because I added some twilight zone music to the video... I'm debating whether to remove the music. It does add an awesome touch to the video, but the Mindstorms website requires that all contest entries don't have music. This is NOT an entry for a contest, but I am still worried because I am not sure if is allowed in other videos. Advice?

Hope you enjoyed the project.  Smiley

Good luck CC, it's not what you build, it's what you feel when you build that counts.  Smiley

I just watched the video, I thought it was great, at first I thought the passengers were screaming, then I realized the sound was from the motors. You should do stop motion, I think you would be great there too!

I agree, I want to do it too, the only thing holding me back is the fear of the tech part, I know I have the patience and the Lego to pull it off, perhaps the world's first full length feature stop motion movie, I wonder, could anyone even sit that long to watch?

I would watch it, as long as it is as entertaining as a full length... and you use a quality tripod (I can't watch shaky stop motion vids). I say go for it... any dream is worth a good attempt.  Wink

There is much more to be said about this creation. When i first glanced I said to myself (this was built by a kidd) I looked at the colors of the model and in an instant decided.

Then I looked again and saw something I hadn't seen since I was a boy. One more look told me that this was LEGO in its purest form.

You have captured the LEGO spirit by the tail CC.
I really am having a hard time turning away, so CC has captured Lego and thrown in a little mindstorms too, with a Disney theme to capture what you may have missed, as I did.

If I had a trophy to give, if only...Thanks for sharing CC!
