Lewa got Air Katanas instead of his Axe. Gali got Water Axes instead of her hooks, and her Kaukau didn't really resemble the old one. Kopaka and Tahu were really one of the only ones who somewhat stayed the same, plus Pohatu if you count the feet accessories.
Colour is the thing that made them recognizable.
