Episode 1 is at least slightly more memorable than episode 2...
but both are overly criticized all the time, most often because they aren't "Original Trilogy" stuff...

the worst thing about ep1 is that they made anakin young, and thus had to use a child actor, which rarely goes over well. Plus they made a lot of the plot be defined by "lucky events"... knock out jar jar, made anakin 16 or older and that movie is a lot less awkward. Darth Maul was and still is amazing.
