[The Truth]

"Not exactly." The girl began. "Why don't I start at the beginning?"
"When you hear the word Nightmare, you think of showing up at school with no clothes, or being chased, or something, right? But that's wrong. Bad dreams are a normal part of the human mind. A Nightmare, on the other hand, is a living, sentient parasite. It infects your brain and eats your thoughts, causing severe bad dreams as a side effect."

"Everyone is infected." The boy continued. "In general, the Nightmares are fairly harmless. We're able to keep them from causing any real damage. But sometimes...well, you know the Old Wive's Tale 'if you die in a dream, you die in real life'? It's partly true. If you die in the Dreamlands, you basically become a vegetable."

"And," the girl resumed, "according to the communications we've intercepted, that's what the Nightmares are aiming for. It's an exponential growth thing. If they take over your mind, they can force open the Gate of Deeper Slumber and enter the greater Dreamlands. From there, they can take over all the other patients at the hospital. Then the doctors. Then the friends and family of the doctors, and so on."

"We're not sure why they're getting so bold." The boy concluded. "They've never tried anything like this before in the history of humanity. But they apparently got tired of just infecting humans, now they want to take over humans and use you as livestock."
