I hate that feeling.. here are some tips.

NO COFFEE. not even weak coffee..
No sugar 3 hours before sleep. Late evening snack of a slice of turkey if you can. ( Turkey has natural tryptophan, makes you drowsy) Warm milk also helps some people. NO chocolate.. chocolate has caffeine.

Before lying down:
Sit on the bed with your feet flat on the floor with hands relaxed on your lap. 
Close your eyes. Then do the following:
    * While slowly counting to 3 take a slow deep breath in through your nose.
    * Hold it for 3 slow counts.
    * Let the breath out through your mouth for 3 slow counts.
    * Hold it for 3 slow counts.
    * Repeat 3-6 times.
You will be amazed at the power of this simple exercise.  You'll feel more relaxed in a matter of minutes !!

AVOID STIMULANTS –[spoiler] Avoid all stimulants such as caffeine.  Caffeinated products include coffee, tea, sodas, and especially colas. Even some aspirin or other headache remedies often contain caffeine! "Energy drinks", Mountain Dew and a wide variety of other "energy bars" or supplements often contain a high amount of stimulating products. Check your vitamin and other supplements to make sure none of them are stimulating as well. (Look them up if you are unsure.) Check labels to see if products like aspirin are in any other product you take before bed.  Stay away from all these substances if you want a good night's sleep. [/spoiler]
