Not everyone is as gifted as you. People are different mentally. What may come to you in five seconds, may come to others in five hours. Days, even.

There are those who are less gifted than average. I had a friend like that. Capable, but needed some support quite often or he would seriously struggle. Abusing-himself level of struggling.

I'm a decently gifted mathematical thinker, but I've struggled plenty, and when I struggle I seek help. In college I couldn't grasp the process of derivation for an extremely long time. I asked classmates and teachers, spent extra time in the books, and figured it out. You can't just quit because you "naturally" didn't get something.

Mak is struggling with some of his HS classes. He doesn't want to ask for help because he doesn't want anyone to know he is struggling.

He should be asking for help, there's no shame in educating yourself. If he's afraid his friends will make fun of him for it, then he should find better friends TBH. Sad
