I'd say something, but I was up until almost 1 myself(Minecraft y u be so addicting?), so I have no right to comment. =P

That said... I installed Portal the other day, right? Well, today, as my computer's loading(Aka, in the 2 seconds I have between pushing the Power button and getting into Firefox and Steam and such. =P), I noticed where it placed the Shortcut.

Right next to the Google Picasa 3 shortcut.

... Should I be scared now, or later?

Eh, it's mostly my fault, because I always waste time when I get back on my laptop, instead of working right on Minecraft from the start. If it wasn't for that, it wouldn't be as bad, especially last night with my rage quit due to about three or four spiders. =P

It really irks me when adults liken technology to drugs. Its BASIC HUMAN NATURE to go back to things you enjoy, time after time after time. Have you ever not been able to pull yourself away from a good book? If you say no you're a liar or don't read enough to be someone I'd associate with Tongue and its no different. The only difference between a book and a videogame? Replay value.

Books enrich the mind and soul, often educate, and usually enhance both vocabulary and thought process.

Games do some of these things, but miss some.

Nonetheless this does not make one superior to the other.
Balance is important.  Getting tied up in a game for a day or even a week is one thing, weeks on end is another.

It depends on the game.

Call of Duty = 'Mature' picture book, in terms of how much they truly help people in the long run, and how expansive they are.

Final Fantasy = Those huge long fantasy books, like Lord of the Rings, or other such stories.

The Legend of Zelda =  The books that aren't nearly as long as Lord of the Rings or Wheel of Time, but are pretty long still.

Minecraft = A never ending book that gets added on with educational 'for dummies'-style books as well, during the reading process.

i know someone who's grandfather once took out a month to read the entire rise and fall of the roman empire at the expense of most everything else. probably LESS healthy for him than if he had, say, gotten a Wii.

And have you SEEN some of the drivel written recently? Tell me how Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer, 50 shades of gray, or Twilight - some of the most popular books ever written - enrich your mind or soul in ANY way, do ANYTHING to educate you.

VS something like LU, minecraft, or portal.

books are not better. they're simply different.

and the argument is very easy to make that video games are created more effectively because they are more likely to keep you coming back for more.
