I'll take that as a very good compliment, then, KF, for many reasons. =)

I also agree with MsRR. We've been around 5 years now, to just give up and walk away would be dishonouring the community in general. We may stumble, but we cannot allow ourselves to fall, and we won't. We may have inactive spells, but we've always had times where we are inactive. It's where we head from there, that makes us who we are. =)

Truth: You keep talking about it, and I keep getting distracted, PM me about it, so I can give it a try sometime in the hopefully near future. Is it online, or a download, out of simple curiosity?

I don't know that Rand Paul is a crackpot, but I disagree with the idea of filibustering. It's literally, "Let's waste everyone's time until they give in because we have more important things to talk about."

KF, he and his colleagues actually gave a tutorial on the constitution. And the point was to protest the idea that ANY president could use drones against an American citizen on American soil without due process of the law ( a trial).

I wrote this the night of.. just after he stopped
"Filibusters, in the old sense, were often used just to waste time to force issues. Huey Long, in 1930, once filibustered using pot-likker recipes and Shakepeare quotes. There was little substance to his 15-hour rant. When I heard today that Rand Paul was filibustering, I was initially taken back that he would use such an off-handed trick. I knew his cause was just, but surely there are better ways of getting the message across.

I was wrong.

What Rand Paul did in this twelve hours and fifty-four minutes is history-making and demonstrates the utmost integrity. Rather than babble on about whatever he may choose, Senator Paul used every minute of his time to discuss the issue at hand. Paul enlightened all listening about the Obama administration's drone policies and his issues with these policies. As the hours passed, thousands tuned in to C-SPAN to hear him speak.

#StandWithRand became the number one trend on Twitter. Senator Ted Cruz from Texas stood with Senator Paul almost the entire time. He became the first to read from Twitter on the Senate floor.

What we have all seen tonight is not really about politics. What we have seen tonight is an honest man with backbone taking leadership and the American people following him. Senator Paul stood up and did not waver. Thanks largely to the internet, everyone watched. Everyone will know what Senator Rand Paul did today. Everyone knows about what the current administration is doing with their drones and that their very lives are at stake.

Senator Rand Paul proved tonight that he is worth listening to, like him or not. What he did took courage and endurance. I suspect we will be hearing about this for a long time to come."

Have you looked up this guy's beliefs? Even a lot of his fellow party members think he's crazy.

That said, I do agree with his belief that drone strikes on unarmed citizens is bad. Either way, a lot of what he was ranting on was a hypothetical situation that will never happen. Under what circumstances are we just having drone strikes on political dissenters or whatever else he was droning (heheh) on about?

Yes, I know he spoke about the issue the entire time, but it was still a massive waste of time. Taxpayer money supports the government, and I'd rather they were concise and efficient. I'm disagreeing with filibusters in general, not with what Paul said.

Let's be honest, no govt ever worked for the people. It's not in human nature. People work for themselves, their family, and their friends.
