...You could always get rid of it, then install it again if you do need it for Portal. Now that I've been thinking about it though, it would make more sense that you don't need Steam to run the game.

58748 Portal has blood, Portal 2 does not. However, I know how to (And have) removed the blood from Portal. PM me for details. It took me two hours of research to find out how, but it takes less than 2 minutes to actually do (It's a seemingly obscure technique). -Canama 58751 It's quite simple, actually. Don't get shot by the turrets. I don't know why everyone has such trouble with that...  My way works even if you do get shot. @MsRR: You do need to keep it on your computer to play Portal.
