easy answer - no. most prebuilt desktops have the chip built into the motherboard, and a lot of them have the motherboard soldered to the chassis. You'd need to get a really expensive custom computer to get that capability.

and its downright impossible with a laptop.

liony: Laptops are awesome. You just need to buy one that's gonna be worth the impossibility of upgrading.

Blade: And you have to buy and assemble everything if you want it cheap and get good parts. You might want to wait for the next GPUs too, but processors have onboard graphics cards which should be enough if you buy a computer now and wait for later to buy a GPU.

i have no problem with linux, i just persoanly don't like the gui - it looks like eith i'm suing something between 2000 and XP, or like i'm using symbian or something. neither are screaming "use me" Tongue

i haven't used it in a while - last used it a couple years ago at my aunt's, and that was a year-old version then Tongue  And I've seen (but not used) the newer builds. IMHO, they look like half-baked mobile OSes.
Also, Symbian = Nokia's OS

Hmm... I'll have to look again soon for sure; because unless there's been huge revisions to the GUI recently; it didn't look like a Mobile OS the last time I used it...

/EDIT: Oh would you look at that. Microsoft's apparently scared... Seems they've got a way to make Linux unbootable, providing you've certified Windows 8. Likely a way around it, and most major distributions won't be affected, but still.

i happen to know that's not true - the "windows store" is the ONLY way to obtain a metro app. you have to do it through the windows store app, just like itunes.
