Yes, but who really goes out and buys a pro controller? Really the only people who do are people who are really into gaming (I wouldn't go as far as to say hardcore gamers) and really how many of those are left for Nintendo? Not a ton.

Can't really comment on local multi player from experience, but frankly I prefer network gaming. How often do you have a friend over to play videogames? But if you have your friends user accounts hooked up, you can play with then whenever you want, with the added benefit of not having to worry about splitscreen or anything like that.

OK, that's bull and you know it. The wii u has pretty good system specs. It could DEFINETLY pull off streaming video to 4 screens. This is a high end gaming device blade, not your laptop Tongue

No, I don't get why the haters hate the wiiU controller either. First time I saw it I thought "oh, it turns your TV into a DS" which is a good idea, IMHO. However, I don't see the need for the pro controller and the wiiU controller, seeing as they have the exact same button layout .

Nintendo is suffering from what I call TMCS (Too Many Controller Syndrome) they have the wii controller. The wii motionplus controller. The pro controller. The nuchuck. The wiiU controller. WHY.
Now, I don't know how motionplus works with the wiiU, but if I were Nintendo I would not let non-motionplus standard controllers work with the wiiu. I also fail to comprehend why the nuchuck has to be tethered. It is its own controller, why does it need a cord and dependency on the main controller? I've already stated my feelings on the pro controller. And then you have the wiiU controller. I get it, I really do. But don't you think 3 controllers is enough? Jeez.

I do not think its a bad idea to continue to use the motion controllers, seeing as the wii brand was built on motion control. However, as I stated above, please Nintendo, cut out the 1.0 controllers. The motion plus? Yes, keep em. But the 1.0 compatibility just drags down the user experience.

I also fail to see the "fun" aspect of one person, due to having a completely different setup, not really take part in the game at all. Since I have arguably better equipment I have to curl up on the couch and play a slightly different game that doesn't fully interact with my friends, while said friends are standing over in the center of the room waving their arms around having a great ol' time? What's with that?

The only place I've seen a setup where one wiiu controller and 3 wii controllers worked well together is here (linked instead of imbedded for language)

MTM: Plenty of people who want to play multiplayer; same with those who bought the Classic Controller/Pro for the Wii, and extra WiiMotes. =P

Exactly. So, the worry of extra Pads shouldn't really be a concern for that, since the guy you're playing with almost certainly has a Pad himself. And if he doesn't, then I question how he even started the game. =P

Maybe 4, but what about 5? =P You forget the TV, which is indeed probably used then anyway. There's no telling how many it can indeed handle. I wanna believe it can handle four, for if there's ever an update allowing more than two controllers per console.

So that they can allow multiple controllers per console, without having to stream video to each of them. Or to allow people who dislike the tablet to be able to play certain games. But yeah, that definitely doesn't make total sense... But really, there's nowhere to go, as the Pro and Pad have the same number of buttons as any controller. =/

Wii and Wii U controllers should be counted separately; it's like including the Gamecube Controllers when discussing how many controllers the Wii has. Officially, the Wii U has 2 controllers; the GamePad, and the Pro controller. The Wii is the bloated Controller-based system. =P
Also, the Remotes are allowed, because of the Motionplus addition, and since the old ones have been phased out by now.(Add into that argument that the Wii stuff is more or less simply for backwards compatibility; they just allow new games to utilize the system, like the Wii did for the Gamecube stuff)
The Nunchucks, however, are not a controller of their own. They have two buttons and a control stick, not even enough for an NES game. If you mean the Classic Controller, then yeah, I don't know why it needs to be tethered. Only possible reason I can think is to allow it to be wireless, since they hadn't thought to use bluetooth or something to sync the controllers back in '06.
Basically; the main ones supported are: The Wii Remote(Motionplus or not)+Nunchuck, The Classic Controller, The Wii U Pro controller, and the Wii U GamePad. Of those, two are from the Wii, and the other two were thought up for this, to offer two designs of pretty much the same thing for different people.

They can't do that, however... The new Motionplus controllers, like the ones included in the old Skyward Sword bundle(Which is awesome) are the old ones, just with the motionplus add-on integrated into the shell of the old remotes. Internally, from what I understand, it's the same device, just with the motionplus automatically toggled on and used without having to attach the add-on. It also allows the people who have the old '1.0' remotes, with the Motionplus add-on, to play with people who have the '2.0' Motionplus integrated remotes. Should they make the new games be motion-plus only? By all means, do that Nintendo, that'd be amazing. But, because of compatibility with the Wii games, they can't just sever ties with the 1.0 controllers, which is unfortunate. =/

I'll definitely back you up with that. I have no clue what Nintendo or Ubisoft were thinking when they decided to make Mario U and Rayman Legends have that type of set-up... But; that said, I'd say that the Nintendoland games, from what little I've been able to see of them from videos, does the BETTER way of handling it. Have you seen the Metroid battle minigame, or some of the other things in that? It gives the different control schemes a reason, without having to sacrifice gamer fun for it. That said, I'm kinda disappointed that Zelda U probably will sacrifice the motionplus controls for the GamePad from the looks of the tech demo... I kinda liked the precision of the sword controls. =/

That would be awesome. xD

Truth: Apparently too many new molds(I suspect there were some other issues too...). =( Which, well, it makes sense. I still want a true LEGO Master Sword. *Sighs* Anyone can probably see that it would sell out faster than you could say Triforce.

Skrief: Blade is a popular name, I believe. =P

Anyone here have Dungeon Defenders?  I.E. from the Humble Bundle?  Seeing as I'll be starting from scratch tonight/tomorrow, I'll likely need party support to be able to do ANYTHING reasonable. Oh wow I have 296 hours of DD played. Time to give people advice.

I suggest you do not attempt Nightmare Difficulty until you are certain you know what you are doing, you are Level 74 and above and have the best gear you can get at Level 74 or above. But since you all just started, gear doesn't matter much until it starts getting the 'Godly' prefix around Level 60. Around Level 74, dropped gear starts getting the 'Mythical' prefix, level 78 'Transcendent' prefix, level 83 'Supreme' prefix and level 90 'Ultimate' prefix. You want mythical gear or above for the Nightmare difficulty. The name is no joke. At least, not on the later levels. The DLC maps can be utterly insane with their difficulty and size.  And you will want to have multiple heroes. Earlier on you can get through by having only one hero, but as difficulty increases you will want more heroes for the wider variety of defences that are almost necessary. You will always want an Apprentice or a Squire for the actual towers, a Huntress for the traps, a Monk for the auras, and if available to you, the DLC hero 'Series EV' for the beams, most notably, the 'Tower Buff Beam', in addition to the DLC hero 'The Summoner', for the summoned minions who are not affected by the 'Defense Units', but instead the entirely separate 'Minion Units', giving quite a boost to defenses.

In addition to all that, always take into account the 'Defense Units' of this map. This effectively makes it so you cannot place defences all over the map. Each defence takes up a certain number of defence units, for example a magic barrier takes up one defence unit while a magic missile tower takes up  three defence units. So this means you have to be careful when placing defences. As stated earlier, minions are affected by Minion Units, instead of  defence units, so if you need extra defence, do not be afraid to use the minions of the summoner.

Flipz: I believe you can customize the notifications; lemme check my own profile quickly.

/EDIT: Odd, could've sworn I could. 0_o Either way, from my knowledge, adding friends doesn't send an email, and actually playing games doesn't. It should just be gift stuff, so as long as you aren't gifted anything, you should be fine. The 'normal' notifications are handled in the Steam Community, which shouldn't send out emails, since it doesn't seem to for me.

The forum is a girl? 0_o
I imagine new people coming to the forum expecting to see discussion about LEGO, only to see RPGs full of deranged characters and insane people talking about cheese and brains.
I'm beet. I don't think I'll do homework tonight.
So, you're a vegetable? Tongue
