Considering that i've never talked to a person through ingress, and its difficult to do so, that's kinda silly to say. The only interaction with other players there is, is a faction "chat", which is basically a super-localized bulletin board.  And, of course, other players effects on portals.

I fail to see any sort of social media aspect to it at all.

The monitor I had hooked up to my Lubuntu machine died. Based on Google-fu it seems to be a blown capacitor. I might try to fix it; I don't have much to lose on it.

If not, I'll see if I can't scrounge up another VGA-compatible monitor for super cheap.

And if not I'll just extract the hard drive and save it for another computer. I'll just get rid of the rest; I don't really need it.

That should be framed and hung...somewhere.  Not sure where would be most appropriate or helpful, but...somewhere.   I'd offer Google headquarters or something, but they seem to be fairly aware of the issues in the tech world (not that they manage to fix them all, and not that their solutions are necessarily any better than any other company's, but at least it feels good knowing that they DO pay attention, instead of ignoring the problems like Microsoft and Apple love to do).

...for some reason, typing that mini-rant put ideas in my head for at least twenty inappropriate insults surrounding the name "Microsoft". >_<  Pass the brain bleach, please...

Also, to whomever at HP decided that mucking about with Windows and installing funky custom software that changes the way that Windows operates, thereby making Windows think it is no longer genuine and $#@%ing up the whole system over a SIMPLE AUTO-UPDATE...when the alien overlords come to conquer the world and devour humanity for a light snack, I'm pointing them to your house, buddy.

Disagreed. RTD was way worse, also I should probably mention that there are other writers such as Toby Whithouse and Chris Chibnall. But I will admit all of his Series 6 episodes were terrible, excluding the 2010 christmas special. Silence were so cliché and boring. He's better when he goes back to his roots and uses a common fear.  Then there's the 2011 christmas special, which was one of the worst DW episodes ever. Then I thought that Series 7A was okay. Some notable episodes in that small bunch. As for the 2012 christmas special, definitely better than the 2011 special. Better companion too, and I hope she lives up to expectations. Hopefully this won't end up involving Moffat's worst, most mary-sueish character of all that utterly ruined series 6... the dreaded 'River Song' that also ruined Amy and Rory. But they're gone now, fortunately. He's also wrong to get rid of multi-parters, considering that classic episodes of DW were multi-parters.

And if that DW revisited thing was aimed at me, which seems to be the case given only I and MTM replied in-between the comments, do the research: it's a BBCA[merica] thing only.

Moffat ruined something? What? That's hard to believe. Have you seen Sherlock? It's exceptionally well written, not to mention how it's amazing in every other regard as well. That's the only TV show I watch (all six episodes!)
