I think it must be a good thing in some ways to be a child when something like this happens, as I was when JFK was assasinated. THe full horror of what has happened is beyond your scope, and you have years to grow into it..
I was already a grandma when it happened. I woke up to the news.... and couldn't move for hours. Then I got the phone call, telling me of the loss of my friends. I do not think I ate all day.. I know I didn't get dressed or go to work... for days.
I do not use the TV as an alarm anymore... I used to wake up to the morning news every day, and linger in bed a few minutes while I watched it.

2nd grade Is when this happend for me. It was very confusing at the time but I remember the teaching looking horrified and that got the students terrified.
God bless the people who risk their lives for others that day. May they not be forgotten.
