ZLS: Sweet, you'll have to tell me if you like it. Another book that I would recommend is The Great Yellow Doom Bird; it's an interesting one. Takes place in WWII I believe, (it could be WWI) though it's definitely fiction. It's also limited to about 400 pages at the max. =P

Do pages really matter? If you read more books, it's still more pages than ONE book.

Well, it depends what you like. Sometimes its fun to read a short book because you can read the entire thing at once. But If I buy a book I like to get long ones, so its more worth my money. It also depends on font size and the style of the book.
There are some books that are 400-500 pages, but written in a poetic style, with the words forming images on the pages. These books can be read quickly because of how the words are printed. The books could be condensed to 200 page books if they removed the poetry from them, but the books wouldn't make as much sense.

I guess pages don't really matter, but it's nice to know what you're getting yourself into, and what size of book you are looking for. And the grandeur of the story...

I read the first 4 (Angel Experiment, School's Out-Forever, Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports and whatever the other is) and then when I began to read the next ones (Angel, Max and Fang) I got mad at James Patterson for being a lazy and sloppy writer and stopped reading anything by him.
The first MR books were great- unique plot, cool characters and such- but after that everything seemed lacking and the plot didn't seem to be going anywhere but sideways and getting more and more odd with each new book.

I think I might've seen the Pendragon series at the library, but with that being said, I haven't read any of the books. =P

They're pretty good. Parts of them even take place in a mostly normal world that you know quite well. =P (Earth, in case anyone was wondering. =P)

Know of and seen both series at bookstores and libraries. Never picked up or read either one. However, this comment:

Doesn't make me want to read the series, if the ending is bad...

Anyone read Ender's Game (and the accompanying series). I would really recommend them. The original book splits off into two other series- one that continues directly and one that continues some 3000 years later.

Great books. I personally thought it had one of the better endings I've read. It seemed very... deserved I guess.

And yeah, I have heard of Ender's game, and it's sequels. I just haven't read them, never seemed to have gotten round to it.

Well the first book ends, and then the book after that follows one character 3000 years later.
The other series of books begins with a parallel book to Ender's game, but focuses on different characters. Then the following books in that storyline continue in the present.

Ender's Game is the main book, and I guess it's almost like a side series, except that both tie into each other in many ways. They're really good books, though, so I'd recommend them.

Please forgive what I might consider a double post, I posted this in TOWLER first, but it really belongs here.

Feast your brick hungry eyes on this eh....

We don't seem to have a topic yet where we discuss books, (MsRR set me straight) you guys remember don't you, they are information sharing devices made from trees.

So I came across this book by accident and let me tell you, it's the best book I ever read.

It's called "The LEGO Ideas Book UNLOCK YOUR IMAGINATION". It's a DK publication and can be bought at most book stores and found in some libraries as well.

I am currently scanning the pages to put them on my pc for easy access (I actually took an x-acto knife to the book so it would fit in my printer).

This book is filled with all kinds of cool stuff and a lot great tips and building ideas.

You can get the book on-line as well, www.dk.com

I'll show you the front cover, but I won't show any more, out of respect to the builders and fear of going to jail

I haven't had time to read as of late, but I am slowly working on New Spring, a novel, by Robert Jordan. It's a prequel to the WoT series.
